If you’re looking for a nice, relaxing pub for a bit of nosh then this is one of the better places in the area. Wine selection is good, a few ales and it’s got a nice rustic feel. It’s just a comfortable pub to while away a nice evening. Not bad at all eh?
Agree with the comments about seating though. Book ahead if you want to guarantee a table!

We had an evening meal here for 4 people, the food was great and has steadily gone uphill in the past 12 months (I think there is a new manager). I opted for steak which was spot on, I love the chips which are thin/​crunchy and for pudding I had Sticky Toffee and date pudding which was great. If your after somewhere that is not too expensive with a friendly atmosphere the Vine is a great pub. It is part of a chain so I f you like to have a bespoke menu and homecooked food then Its not for you, but as pub food goes it’s very good.
The only negative thing I will say is you may struggle to find a table on the weekends unless you book.

The Vine is one of a large chain of restaurants, and has changed hands a number of times. However, we have usually managed to find a seat (a problem quite often, as it is extremely popular). Normally, I have found the service to be ok, but occasionally, when they are very busy, it can be a bit ‘off’. I wouldn’t go there for a special meal, but it is quite acceptable.

I found this restaurant to be very uninviting from the moment I stepped
in the door. Although the setting is very nice and the actual building is
very rustic and lovely, I felt that the atmosphere was very tense and
was not welcoming at all. The staff were not very competent and kept
taking the wrong drinks orders to many tables, but did not seem to be
scolded by the managers or bar manager.
The actual food was nice enough, but did not warrant such high prices. i
had the mushroom lasagne which was fairly nice, but did not warrant £8.50
for no salad or any condiments whatsoever.
