I visited here on Saturday afternoon I had wanted to go here and had been put of by reviews but am really glad I went had a lovely meal. We both had burgers and chips food tasted great and good portion sizes I ordered kids chicken and chips for my son which he didn’t really eat but that wasn’t due to taste more as he was so in to the play area which is fab and the kids meal deal 6.50 for dinner drink dessert and play area is brilliant value for money our waiter was helpful and attentive and when we ordered dessert he even helped us get a cheaper version of our dessert which was ferrero rocher ice cream which is amazing definitely will be going back

Would not come here again. Arrived at the restaurant and despite being empty we were ignored by staff, so asked a member if we should just sit down, we were told ‘no, wait over there and someone will seat you’ i think we were meant to guess though as the staff just stared at us. We Ordered 2 jacket potatos with regular tuna mayo although we were then given spicy tuna the chef and waiter assured us it was not spicy(i have never had tuna that burnt my mouth before but oh well perhaps it was off instead) the potato was also rock hard, bone dry and didnt come with any garnish, we made it clear we did not like the food and were not asked if we would like to change it, so it was left. The ribs and steak etc are not available until the evening. So during the day it is a café(albeit not a very good one) not a bbq steakhouse and there is a much nicer café down the road, where you are even given a little side salad with your jacket potato. We asked for the bill which was £28 for 2 jacket potatos, skinny fries and 4 drinks, but were then again ignored so i took the bill up to the till to pay. I was ignored for a few minutes while 2 members of staff played with the till and then i was asked ‘do you want something?’, i said ‘yes, my change please’, i was blanked again while she put my change onto the counter without another word. So my advice would be to go to the café or just anywhere else for a light snack. And as for the ‘evening’ food, just stick to el desperados, which is nice, always busy and yet you still recieve good service and lovely food, where you can get steak, ribs etc from the moment it opens.

We arrived at midday and there was only 3 tables in the front of the restaurant that were being used, otherwise it was empty. For this reason I cannot understand why it took 2 waiters and the lady at the till(assuming a manager) about 10 minutes to seat us. Disappointingly we were told the grill only runs in the evening(Maybe they should call it the partly sandwich and partly ribshack??). We then waited 25 minutes for one of the waitress to come over to us even trying to get their attention. 4 tables and 2 waiters, you would expect better service. To be fair the restaurant started getting fuller as we waited. We ordered kiddies pesto pasta, pannini, chicken/avo bap and chips. The pannini was excellent, the pesto pasta was really poor, the pasta was cold(and tasted re-heated), the pesto was tasteless and looked like it had been watered down with olive oil. My children love pasta, they both didnt like it an refused to finish it. The chicken/avo bap was tiny, came as white bread instead of the brown once I asked for(and was toasted, which I didnt ask for). There was about 3 small pieces of chicken bathed in the cheapest bulk order mayo. To be fair the avo was quite nice. The tuna melt pannini was lovely, and fairly sized. Unfortunately the fries didnt arrive. Coffee was good. The children facilities looked excellent and we spent about 15 minutes in there. In short, great location, good décor, great kids facilities and great opportunity. The bad is really poor service by unhappy and slightly rude waitresses, small portions and most importantly unpleasant food. As an aside I looked into the kitchen and couldnt see a smoker insight(maybe I missed it??) which is what I would expect if someone uses the word Bar-B-Q and ribshack in their title(Assume the pork and ribs to be oven cooked). I may be unfair here, but I dont know if I can bring myself to go in the evening for this. I had seriously high hopes for this restaurant as the Park is crying out for exactly this, but as it stands unless things improve drastically I would be surprised to see this restaurant see out 2015.

I too want this restaurant to survive and prosper as it is different and offers local mums a soft play facility. I read the previous review and others on other sites and all seem to moan about the food. I wish I had got that far. Despite checking the website before we left home, I was confused when I walked into the restaurant as there was a long queue but almost noone sitting at any tables. I dutifully waited in line for about ten minutes before asking the owner for the childrens’ menu. The normal menus were available by the queue. The owner told me that there was no restaurant food until after 5pm and that the queue was for the softplay only. I asked her how I, as a customer, would know this as there were no signs or anything to stop you queuing needlessly. She replied«Its on the website». Well, firstly, I wasn’t on my computer I was standing in her restaurant where you might reasonably expect some information — especially if its going to operate differently to the normal model of come in and be seated. Secondly, I had been on the website and told her that I didn’t see any indication of the normal menu only being available post 5pm. If you go there, you will see a few pages filled with text, like an essay. I challenge any customer to find the opening times for example. So, I took my family elsewhere, not having tried the food. I did ask the owner if she had read the online reviews and she replied that she had but they had only been running a few months — I guess that is true but I’m not sure how many people would give the place a second chance. Overall, I was surprised that the owner herself would want a load of customers queuing with only one person taking the orders and that she didn’t pitch in to help reduce the queue. Also, why she chose the inefficient method of taking food orders and payment for the soft play at the same time and place. Surely, let the parents pay for the soft play separately from ordering food. Fingers crossed that the customer communications and logistics for ordering get sorted before the customers dry up.

I hate to leave a 3-star review because I REALLY want this restaurant to succeed. They’ve got a lot going for them and they’re a huge breath of fresh air on an otherwise ho hum high street. We were 9 people for Sunday lunch. 3 adults, 6 kids and we booked a table in advance. There is a lot to like: the décor is fun, the kids play area is great(and it has tables and parents can sit and eat there while the little ones play!). The menu has good variety. Being heretical Americans, 5 of the 9 of us were vegetarian. So my review won’t really cover the meat. It claims to have pulled pork barbecue in the Tennessee style, which I’d heartily recommend to my meat eating friends. The service was haphazard and unpredictable – definitely not American style service. It was hard to find a server, no one checked in with us proactively, nobody«prebussed» the table when we were done. I think the wait staff and kitchen are still finding their rhythm and haven’t quite got it down to a well-oiled machine. We obviously fell through the cracks somewhere. We got our own cutlery when the food was served without it, and we got our own napkins when we needed them. The bean veggie burger was an amorphous blob. Tasty, but it didn’t have any form. Fries and onion rings were predictable and adequate. Nachos were lovely in true American style: guac, salsa, cheese, and sour cream, and a generous potion. It’s early days still. They’ve just opened and they deserve the benefit of a second go. We need a restaurant like this to succeed. I’ll be back, and I hope to update this review with a more positive experience.
