On our usual journey from The South to The North on a Friday night, Mr. Snarky said that he didn’t really want to eat at services, so I pulled out the phone and started looking for restaurants along the way. Problem is trying to figure out at about what time you will arrive at these locations because of traffic. It also makes it difficult to make reservations! I figured our best bet would be in Worcester, although the traffic on Friday night, getting into the city centre nearly made us abort the mission. We had originally planned on a different restaurant, but when they said it would be two hours, we decided to go elsewhere. We saw the Swan With Two Nicks and thought we’ll give it a try. I loved the interior! If I were just going for a drink, this would be a place I would want to go to. I love pubs with character and this one certainly has it. After being welcomed by they lovely bartender, we found some seats and browsed the menu. It is a bit of a maze when you come in as you just see this long corridor. There are three areas that seem to make up the main part of the pub. We sat in the third area next to what seems to be a dance area/stage for live music in the next room. There was also one of those retro video game tables in the area we were sitting in and we were tempted to sit there and play until our food came. The menu is fairly straightforward… burgers, pie, you know, pub grub. I went with the steak and ale pie because I think pubs do the best pies and Mr. Snarky went with the Hickory Burger. We ordered at the bar, but there are no numbers on the table, so I’m not sure how that works, although I think we were the only ones having food at that time. Next to the bar is a juke box so if you have some spare change, you can choose the tunes, although what was playing was pretty good… some classic rock n’ roll! As we were waiting, we watch a band bringing their equipment in and setting up in the room next to us. Unfortunately we had to get back on the road before they played. The chef/cook(never sure what they like to be called) brought us our food and there was a lot of it! The steak and ale pie wasn’t some fancy deconstructed thing with a bit of puff pastry on top of stew, it was a proper pie… and a large one at that. In fact, I think this dish could have fed two people easily. It comes with a side of mash(you can choose regular, garlic, Stilton, or mustard mash), peas, and a huge jug of gravy. Mr. Snarky’s burger was huge as well and we were not able to finish all of the food. I made it just to half way through the pie. All of this food and our soft drinks came to about £20. Besides being a lot of food, it was good, hearty food as well. When the chef/cook cleared the table, he asked if everything was alright and we told him that it was really good food, just too much of it and he laughed and agreed. Before we left, I found the loo… upstairs. Upstairs there is, yet, another bar/club area. I believe it is call Luna. This place is huge and clearly catering to a variety of customers! I think we’d be happy to come back… if the traffic into Worcester on a Friday night wasn’t that bad!

The staff are lovely and this is the best place to get a cocktail in Worcester I recommend the blackberry Collins even though I’m not a gin drinker it’s gorgeous just mind the seeds at the bottom! The music here is also great especially on a Friday night. Get here early cause it’s small and fills up fast! PS This review is for the luna bar upstairs. The girl who made the great cocktails has left and they aren’t as good anymore. :(

Fantastic old pub. Has great music playing — rock/indie/classic. Serves great real ale and boddingtons cask was just £1.40 a pint! Very freindly staff and a really good atmosphere. Only drawback was very small toilet facilities and low beam that my other half kept banging his head on! Recommed it for any one who likes there rock music.
