nice modern décor, its not a big restaurant and some of the tables are in bad areas, especially the one by the kitchen/toilet entrance! nicely furnished, clean basic roomy ladies toilet. the first time we went earlier this year, it was a £2.00 a pint! £2.00 a pint in the center of york! they gain a star just for that! but they had put the prices up to £2.80 on the last visit! the meanies! but still cheaper then pub prices inside york! and its a decent pint!(lager that is not tried the bitter) staff are super efficient and friendly we’ve only been on a saturday night and though we dont book, we can get a table. but its always busy and the atmosphere is always buzzing. with the table layout you can’t help but hear the next tables conversations. so there’s some pretty interesting people that eat there! its mainly a couples kind of place, couples and couples with couples etc, though its not very romantic set up, but its £2.80 per pint! the food falls into good to very good, but with saying that its non the less very tasty and the portion sizes are good. price wise for the center of york, it’s excellent! oh the stuffed aubergine dish is excellent,(but i really like aubergines) sag paneer so so but still good. its hard to place the food as we’ve never had a bad dish nor have we had a very memorable one, but we have always enjoyied our visits there and will continue to go back! so i think that says it all!

Nah! A promising Indian restaurant, clean and tidy looking with nice, comfy looking chairs and space to move around the tables(I hate being in cramped seating). The waiting staff were quite attentive apart from forgetting a couple of drinks we ordered — forgive and forget. We were in a group of eight which was well catered for but an unfortunate theme of the food was one of flavourlessness. My own and a few others I sampled were genuinely bland, particularly my own. I don’t complain when my food isn’t spicy(a common misconception that a curry is bland if it’s not spicy — simply not true) but when I specifically order a «fairly hot dish» and it appears to have the same Scoville level as the Korma next to me, that’s not right. In fact, no dish I tried had a stand out flavour, a real shame. Next time I’d definitely try somewhere else. Not the worst but quite a disappointment. Ian
