Nostalgically, this is one of my favorite carrot cakes. While the old man that used to helm the stall isn’t cooking anymore, it’s still a decent plate of carrot cake albeit not as fragrant as I remembered. One of the key selling points is the texture which is nice and soft which makes it good for kids and older folk. Personally I like the white carrot cake here although they do both versions as well. Also like lots of chai po and fish sauce that makes it extra yummy. I remembered it tasting even better when you take it home and eating it with some fresh soybean milk. The sign board says it all — Fried Carrot Cake. It’s simple, humble, and unadulterated but what you do get is a decently satisfying plate of carrot cake to start your day on the right note.

Fried carrot cake specialist! I hope when I have family of my own, I remember to give the kids the kind of childhood I had. A fun, memorable one, filled with good Singaporean breakfast food. Saturday mornings, I grew up getting stuffed with roti prata and carrot cake. Carrot cake from this stall, passed over from father to son. The carrot cake here is something else. Take it the way I like it, black, an extra egg with lotsa chilli. Best eaten on the spot. If you’re in clementi for breakfast or tea, you gotta have a plate of this. Writing this makes me feel like having some right now/ The stall owner is always friendly to boot. Respect.
