As a kid, my parents were pretty frugal, and I recall many instances of staring longingly at the fragrant fresh dipped waffle cones on display as I tucked into my kiddy wafer cones(note that when I was a kid, kiddy cones were 99¢ inclusive of a big olé scoop of ice cream). My parents would always tell me that the fancy cones smelled better than they looked… And yet, it was so hard to believe it breathing in the sugary buttery air. I finally got to live the dream at marble slab armed with an entertainer app. We each got the kiddy creation(6.50) and upgraded to the fancy chocolate dipped cones(mine with sprinkles, his with nuts) all topped with heaping scoops of ice cream and fudge sauce. We ate them outside by the river in the sunshine. PARTINGTHOUGHT: Wouldn’t you know it that my parents were right after all… The cones really do smell better than they taste! That being said, they are still very visually appealing, and the red velvet ice cream was delicious.

Marble Slab Creamery is originated from Houston, Texas since 1980s. It sells fresh gourmet ice cream. Other than the many creative flavored ice creams that they have, you can also choose what to add into it, like cookie dough, brownie, M&M, etc., to make it more chunky or chocolatey as you desire. It is quite a popular hangout for many. The ice cream is really rich and is what you pay for, rich and creamy. The service at the stall is good too. Even when there is only one person at managing the whole store, he puts the effort to serve you water when you request for it. Commendable and cozy place to hang out at!

Marble Slab Creamery is located opposite Starbucks, on the first floor of The Central Mall. With both indoor and outdoor seating, it has proven to be a popular place among locals and expats looking for a sweet dessert to end off a good meal. Its appeal lies in the ability of the customer to choose as many flavours of ice cream as he/she wants, and adding as many mix ins as possible. Ice cream flavours range from mint to blood orange sorbet to dark chocolate to red velvet cupcake. My personal favourite is the blood orange sorbet — it’s refreshingly cold and tart — just the thing you want after pigging out on an especially heavy dinner. Also rather delicious are its milkshakes — they’re thick and creamy, and ridiculously satisfying. Maybe not the exact thing you want after a heavy meal, but hey, you only live once right? One drawback about Marble Slab though would be its pricing. At $ 6.50 for an original sized cup of ice cream, that puts it among the ice cream heavyweights of the world like Haagen Dazs. Call me old fashion, but I still reminisce about the days when ice creams used to cost me $ 1 at the local neighbourhood shop!(:
