Shoez Fixt

So my friend got me to drive her here after she read Unilocaler Kris’s review while searching for a good cobbler.
It took a while for us to find Block 186 since both of us were not familiar with Toa Payoh. It is located within the Toa Payoh Mall stretch, with many foot reflexology and beauty salons around that area.
Lloyd is really a gem. I have never met a cobbler who is passionate about what he does and honest to boot. Granted my dealings with cobblers are always with the big chains (Mister Minit and the likes inside the malls) and they are often very impersonal or matter of fact in what can be done.
Lloyd is different. He took one look at my friend’s shoes (the man made leather on the wedge heel were chipped and peeling) and told her it could not be fixed. The only way would be to put leather on it and it would cost $ 60. He told her not to do it as it was not worth the $ 60 (unless the shoes were really comfortable and she really really wanted it) and to save the money. He suggested scraping away the man made leather to reveal the cloth (or whatever material it is) instead and he would just change the sole for her. Throughout the whole exchange, Lloyd was amusing and very personable. You could tell he really knows his craft.
Lloyd was also very kind. Initially he said he cannot do it then as he has other shoes to repair till after Chinese New Year but subsequently he said to come back in an hour (my friend had 2 pairs of shoes to fix). We spoke more when collecting the shoes and discovered his shop has been in business for only a year.
Besides shoes repair, he can also duplicate keys.
His shop is an open concept where he allows customers to enter to see how the process is done.
I will definitely come here if I need to have my shoes fixed and to support local small business.

If you have serious shoe issues, this is the place to go. Lloyd knows how to treat shoes with care. He has a vast knowledge of how to repair the shoes. I have a pair of Cole Haan dress shoes and the leather of the heels are worn out but the rest of the shoes are still great and it’s the most comfortable pair of shoes.
I went to two cobblers before Lloyd and they couldn’t repair for me. Lloyd says he can and he explained to me how he’s going to repair it. Very friendly cobbler and such a treasure to know someone out there can fix my shoes!
