Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal

This terminal isn’t as snazzy as the one in Harbourfront. There’s no mall here, but I actually find that refreshing. (Finally… a place in Singapore that isn’t defined by a mall!)
Since there’s no mall, there’s really not much to do here while waiting for your ferry. They have a small café, a few convenience stores, and golf store. Once you’re past security there’s another café, a souvenir shop, and Duty Free.
I recommend taking a taxi here as it appears there’s only one bus that comes by here, bus 35. Looking at the route, the only MRTs it stops by are Bedok Station and Tanah Merah Station, so plan accordingly!
It’s also best to do an advance booking for taxi when you come back, as no taxi drivers would drive past this terminal by chance.

Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal Review from a Golfer’s Perspective:
If you’re a typical local golfer like me who dreads paying the absurd green fees in Singapore, Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal is probably your second home.
Every Saturday and Sunday morning, hundreds make the weekly pilgrimage to Batam and Bintan’s beautiful golf courses. If you are planning to play golf at one of these golf courses, its best to book with the golf course directly (i.e. their website or via) or a a local website :
. The last website in particular gets you reduced rates!
For any golf course booking, I would recommend request the following services: (i) club handling, (ii) express immigration clearance into Batam, (iii) land transfers from the batam ferry terminal to the golf course and (iv) a round-​trip ferry trip. Typically, these are all inclusive in the green fees package. Make sure, as it will make your whole Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal experience a lot easier!
A typical Batam/Bintan’s golfer’s experience.
1.) Pick up your ticket from the counter or club desk at the Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal (your experience will be different depending how you book)
2) Check-​in your golf bag.
3.) Immigration
4.) Ferry Trip
5) Give up your passport to a local border control agent. For non-​ASEAN nationals, be sure to have US$ 15 for the agent. Let me repeat this again, you will be giving up your passport to the Indonesian border control for the entire day! I’ve done this many times, and I’ve always had my passport returned to me following the round. Yes — you have to have a little faith that the Indonesian border control will take care of your passport. Trust me, the alternative (i.e keeping your passport) is a pain in the behind…
6) Bus ride to golf course
7) Head to the Locker room to prepare for the long golf round ahead
9) Head out to your golf cart where you will be greeted by your caddy and your golf clubs miraculously in the golf cart.
10) Complete your round
11) Tell your caddy your ferry departure time. Clubs are cleaned and transferred to the ferry terminal
12) Take a shower, drink a Bintang, have some food
13) Passport is given to you at the golf club or at the Ferry Terminal depending on your arrangement
14) Take the bus back to the Ferry Terminal
15) Ride Ferry
16) Golf Bags will miraculously appear on the baggage belt.
Now That’s Service!!!
Two key pieces of advice: (i) Be sure to use a golf travel bag — your bags are going to be thrown around and crushed among a sea of other bags… If you love your clubs and don’t want them to get damaged, do the prudent thing and buy yourself a nice travel golf bag (ii) taxis are very limited — do yourself a favor and book a taxi before you arrive back in Singapore, or else it could take an hour or two or more to get home!!!

Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal is located on the outskirts of Changi, close to Changi airport but obviously by the water.
it is used largely for Ferry trips to Bintan, Indonesia or Penang, Malaysia. Its really nothing fancy, it has a few «mama shops» that sell your basic local snacks, a 711 for your last minute travel needs, and a few tours /​travel agency stalls.
I recently came here for a weekend trip to Bintan. We booked through a travel agency so we were lucky enough to cut the que and pick up our boarding passes and immigration cards from another counter (that were already prepared for us). Getting through immigration was quite smooth and the staff were very helpful and attentive.
There are only about 7 gates and the seating area is quite limited but we’ve never had to wait more than 30 minutes so its do-​able. There is also a small duty free shop inside so you can pick up something for your trip (however each passenger is limited to 1 liter of any substance only). They have a selection of wine as well.
The taxis are extremely limited and once you get out of the terminal there is always a huge line and calling a cab is extremely tough. I highly suggest booking one in advance or calling ahead before you leave the ferry.
It’s nothing like our Airport terminals but overall it is clean and easy to navigate for a weekend trip away.
