I came here because of a groupon deal so make sure to check if they have deals going on!
I ordered the moridakusan hakata ramen. The first bite sent me to heaven. Maybe because I was super hungry that time. But after a while, it became super hearty and salty for me that I needed to gulp down glasses of water. It is decent ramen with a price of $ 12.60 USD (at the time).
I would have given this place 3 stars just because of the ramen, but I gave it 4 because of the delicious salmon bowl. It was cooked to perfection and had a delicious sauce. I enjoyed this more than the ramen itself.

Came here for dinner at 730pm with a friend on a Tuesday night. The place was moderately filled, but we had no problems getting a space for us. There was no room to put my handbag anywhere, so I was prepared to eat with my handbag on my lap, and a server came with a basket to place underneath my seat, so I could eat comfortably. That was nice!
Now, for the ramen. I got the all-in ramen, with all the toppings. I wouldn’t advise putting the pickled veggies (kiam chye) inside the ramen simply because I didn’t like them, but to each his own. The broth was a milky, porky one, which was rather mild, and the noodles were your typical Hakata style. Nothing to shout about, but a quick ramen fix that is soso.
Would I come back again? If I was in the HV area with nothing to eat, maybe.

They are good ramen for their prices. I’ll recommend Traditional Hakata Ramen and mini burgers. Never dared to try the Ramen Challenge lol.

I have been here at least on 3 separate occasions. It is right smack in Holland village, a real convenient location for NUS students to hang out. I love ramen, and this is one of the best I have ever tasted. Also, their staff are super helpful and kind. I left my phone there once, and they actually called my mom to inform me abt it. Good food, good location, good service! Can’t ask for more!

Food
I only tried item 3. My friends had the others, no complains. Overall the food was pretty average. «Ok» is the perfect adjective to sum up my meal.
1. Garlic ramen — $ 13
2. Pork Shabu ramen (set) — $ 18
3. Yuzu spicy ramen — $ 18
— The noodles was pretty starchy and they stuck together in a ball. It was pretty average definitely not al dente style.
— The soup base was ok but not spicy at all which was surprising.
— Pork slices was ok.
— The set came with a choice of side dish and a drink, I chose the gyoza which was ok.
Service
— The staff was super nice! They told us to like their page on facebook to get a choice of free soft drink or extra noodles. We chose the latter and the extra serving portion was very generous! It took 3 people to finish 2 bowls of the extra noodles.
— They were also very considerate/flexible even though my friend did not bring her physical student card, they allowed her to verify her student ID via other means and granted her the 10% student discount.
— Service was very efficient and fast.
— Even though we were the last to leave the restaurant, the staff did not chase us out or attempt to hasten us in any way.
— Definitely a 5 star for service :)

Yoshimaru is a very decent ramen joint. With so many ramen shops opening in Singapore in the last few years, I think that Yoshimaru serves up good ramen — a tasty (but not too salty) broth and thin and springy ramen noodles. My usual order is the all in ramen that has soft boiled eggs (yolk is nice and runny), seaweed, char siu, mentaiko, mushroom and some other ingredients.
My favourite thing about this restaurant is that they would give you a pestle and mortar to grind sesame seeds that you can add to your ramen. It gives you something fun to do while you are waiting for your food. Although this sounds vaguely juvenile but it is actually quite nice to know that you are doing something to add to your meal! =)

What else should I say about Holland Village? It’s such a chill hang-out. And Yoshimaru is definitely a great addition. Japanese food +outdoor seating = win! I wasn’t to hungry at that time, so I had a bowl of char siu rice which was really good. I scored a free glass of macha for liking their page on facebook, and a 10% discount by flashing my student card =)

This is a neat little ramen bar tucked away in Holland Village that serves a bowl of ramen for an average of around $ 15, which, in my honest opinion, is the standard in Singapore for any good bowl of ramen. Pleasantly enough, their ramen was really tasty. Being a sucker for all things chilli and spice, I naturally went for the spiciest thing on the menu. However, I have to admit, that it was not as spicy as I expected so I had to add some more chilli oil to it. But then again, I’m a fussy customer when it comes to chilli and spice. Nothing is ever too spicy or too hot for me. To me, it is better than any of those pretentious upmarket ramen places that people love to be «scene» at any day. To top it off, this cute little ramen place also lets you grind your own sesame seeds in the traditional japanese style. They provide you with a small, special bowl with ridges on the inside of it, and wooden grinder. Being a heavy smoker who quit recently, this was a good way to keep my hands from reaching for a ciggy and well occupied.

Yoshimaru is the ramen fix at Holland Village. My boss recommended the place and since then, I’ve been there about 3 times weekdays after work.
The booth seats are quite narrow but they’re okay once you’re settled in. When I’m there, it usually means my ramen cravings have hit a peak, which is why I always order the moridakusan ramen — the ‘all-in’ ramen, where all the toppings are in and you get a bit of everything. The ramen is not the typical ramen noodle, it’s thinner and firmer.
Before the actual ramen is served, they give you a tiny mortar and pestle to play with the sesame seeds. You’re supposed to grind the seeds by stirring the thing round and round until it becomes tiny flakes. By doing this it releases the flavour and you can pour it into your ramen. (I sound like I know what I’m saying, but if I’m mistaken please correct me.)
Overall, the ramen is not ‘wow’ and the environment’s too tight for comfort, but if you need a fix, here’s one at Holland V.
