Café Viskan

A café located beautifully next to the river in the heart of Borås.
To my great surprise this place offered a huge selection of food and pastry that were GF and it did not end there — they had pastry alternatives that were adjusted for people wanting or needing: lactose free, fodmap, sugar free, GI and much much more!
The food offered was a wide variety from sandwiches and soup to bigger cooked, warm meals.
I ended up having a very nice lunch at this café and buying a pastry to enjoy on the train back to Stockholm. And yes, the pastry was fantastic.
The atmosphere of the place inside was cosy and a bit romantic, shabby chic.
They also have a big outdoors serving close by the water.
One of the very best cafés I have ever encountered — location and selection was a hit. Would love to go here again and warmly recommend it.

Wo man gutes findet darf man auch loben, und wenn man besonders gutes findet dann auch besonders loben. Zwar war ich mit meiner Begleitung nur auf einen doppelten Espresso und einen Cappuccino hier, beides war jedoch von überragender Qualität. Der Espresso leicht bitter mit einer besonders feinen Crema, der Cappuccino mit bestem Milchschaum. Hier macht die «Fika» (Schwedisch für Kaffee mit kleinem Imbiss) richtig Spaß. Interessierte sollten gerne auch mal das Lunch-​Angebot wahrnehmen. Die Auswahl an kleinen Gerichten war empfehlenswert, wenn auch nicht selbst verkostet.

Viskan Cafè Bistro Bar has the best location of all restaurants and cafés in Borås.
Their large outdoor terrace in the summer season is perfect for people spotting, right next to the pedestrian-​only street and with the beautiful view of the Viskan Creek and the City Park across it. Viskan Café offers quite a good selection of typical café food and drinks, and on Friday and Saturday evenings they also offer bistro menu. Viskan is one of the few cafés in Borås that is allowed to serve alcohol. Sometimes there’s also live music in the weekends.
It’s also one of the most popular cafés resulting in long lines and the risk of all tables being busy. That’s the only setback.
