While the physical restaurant is quite nice and I enjoyed the breakfast platter that we ordered, the experience I had with the restaurant’s rude and unpleasant manager ruined my experience at Mado. In the menu, the platter we ordered was shown to cost 40 Turkish lira. However, when we received the bill, I noticed that we had been charged 50 Lira. Naturally, I enquired as to the price difference and was told that 50 Lira was the actual price and a waiter brought over a menu, which had a label with ‘50’ overtop of where the 40 Lira had been on the menu we had been given initially. I told the waiter that the menu we had must have not been updated with the price change, but that 40 was the price we should pay. He agreed and called for the manager. The manager arrived in a puff, accused us of lying about the price, and told us that if we paid 40 he would take the 10 Lira difference from the salary of the waiter who had served us – an obvious ploy to guilt us into paying. Undeterred, we put down money for the original price and went to walk out. The manager approached us in a huff, blocking the exit, and again reminded us that he would take the money from the waiter and asked if we were ‘ready to accept the consequences’ — when we said ‘yes’ and went to leave, he demanded that we pay the 10. We acquiesced unhappily. This absolute lack of professionalism made dining here extremely unpleasant and I would caution others restaurant goers in Maltepe to look elsewhere so as to not reward this lack of customer service. I am not one to write overly negative reviews, but this experience left an extremely sour taste in my mouth.

If you are looking for an amazing ambiance for chatting and hanging out with your friends which you can grab some ice cream with your conversations. 3 floors mado will serve you with warm waiters. Love it ;)
