GFTED by name and nature!
Wow– this is the coolest, bravest most creative and trend setting shop in Perth.. . BIG call– you bet! All of my vital organs are on the line here– this shop is f*ckn unreal! Everything about this space is inspiring– it is edgey, street wear that promotes independet artists with a unique style.
Just across from Captain of the ship (another fashionable hot spot!) is GFTED– a shop that I can only describe a a visual representation of the Grimm fairy tales meeting GI joe after he hits the streets and they both punch Ken in the face. A bit random perhaps, but this store has blown my mind! Walking in from the arcade there is a HUGE mural on the wall that is completely spellbinding. It is a massive tree that covers the roof and flows right down to the roots strewn across the floor. Thereare a couple of masked figures, one in the tree and the other leaning against the trunk with a gun in one hand and his head in the other– think bubbling «This is what happens when an insomniac dreams.» This dark sense of humour is reflected in the clothes and accessories up for grabs!
This shop is 12 weeks in and I’m wondering how I missed the launch? Reload! Thats what I say! This trend setting– personality plus clothing store is run by Adam, who has a sick sense of style. As well as the accessories he also provides a wearable canvas for his brother to showcase his work. (This is a shop front extension of his freelancing «Gfted art solutions» service.) Few shops are ballsy enough to sell balaclavas but Adam has got game. His sale Tees kick off from $ 30 and while the range is predominately male orientated– holsters are a unisex fashion must for 2012!!! (for $ 60 a pair, issued with a sick take away box with a banana gun fight sticker, no balaclava required) The change room is a continuum of he creative space outside– cans of paint making an easy upsell for me once the hosters are in the bag!
