Friends and I met here for a late breakfast on Saturday. The staff were great — the food was sensational! Portions were large, flavoursome and as a table of six, everyone’s came out at the same time! The coffee was beautiful. Definitely going back!!!

Small little place with gigantic portions. We had a potato hash stack with bacon and the corn fritters. Both portions are very generous. The corn fritters had 3 patties and generous tomato salsa with slices of haloumi. The Hash stack had large hash(cooked to look like a tempura battered potato strips) with poached egg and generous bacon. It was suppose to come with smoked ham but we asked for bacon. We saw someone ordering the big breakfast and it can easily be enough for 2 people. The lattes were very smooth and easy to drink. A good experience for both of us for sure. And friendly staff is the cherry on top. we’ll be back to this one.

Waited 10 mins sitting outside then went inside to order, was looked at strangely because I went in to order, sneered at when I asked about chips. Non existent service, average food. We’re sure the burger patty was a frozen pre-made one.

I was looking for a big breakfast in Sydney but most offered the standard with too much bread. Then I came across Baffi & Mo big brekky & not only was it big, it was delicious! I’m very much a Bacon & egg kinda guy but the frittata blew my mind! Without a doubt, this is Sydney’s best big brekky!

I started coming here after being referred by a friend. The food is amazing and the service is always consistent. Big fan of the pancakes! #amazing!

Quick service, decent portions and nice coffee. You can’t go wrong with an all day breakfast menu either :)

Been coming here on and off since I user to live in Surry Hills a few years ago. I went again today, and it’s still very good. The coffee is great(can’t recall the beans they use), and the food is even better. The big breakfast is the most expensive I’ve had($ 25!) but it could easily be shared between two(or three) people, so the value for money is there; It came with a big pile of bacon, a whole(fried) tomato, a couple of(delicious) breakfast sausages, a(huge) hash brown, toast, bread, and some eggs. I’ll be getting it again. I couldn’t eat anything else after all that, but cakes they had on display had me sorely tempted(cue restaurant scene from Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life).

I used to love this place. Today we came in at around 11:30, after waiting 15 minutes to be seated. Our meals took an hour to come out(simple fritters), and when they did come out my partners meal had ham on it(she is vegetarian), upon telling the server she barely acknowledged us, just silently took the plate over to the kitchen where they took the ham off the plate and brought it back. Both meals were overdone, the fritters were fried to a dry mess and the poached eggs were clear inside instead of white. Even the vegetables tasted reheated and soggy. Such a shame as this was one of my favourite places for breakfast in Sydney. I’d say this could be a one-off, but others around us were also complaining of long waits and poor quality food.

I loved Baffi & Mo from the very start of my first sip from their lattes, and that was three years ago. I went back again a couple of weeks ago and was happy to see that even though there seems to be a lot more new trendy and busy cafes in Redfern, the tasty lattes and breakfast options are still as good as they were at Baffi & Mo. I was a bit sad not to see my favourite on their menu anymore(lemon-ricotta hotcakes with passionfruit sauce), but the new pancakes with caramel sauce and ice cream(ice cream for breakfast?!? oh yeah!) is a sure winner. I split that plate along with the corn and pen fritters with my boyfriend and that was definitely enough food for breakfast, lunch and a snack all rolled into one. I love the décor and relax vibe this café, and its super-friendly staff give off. I wish it was in Montréal and it’s one of the places I miss the most from not being in Sydney anymore.

Ordered the hash and a barramundi lunch special, food was good but let down by 1. Us and everyone else having to wait 30+ min(at a café?) 2. There was an insect between the ham and the hash — some kind of large mosquito and 3. The waitress/owner was brusque with us after we tried to change tables.

A HAPPYSURPRISE picked up a friend at the airport who had travelled from America and was heading to surry hills to find a café when we were lucky enough to find this café. It looked comfortably crowded and being 10.30 on a Monday morning, that was a great sign. The quirky décor that has become so popular in café land was done just right here and made you feel right at home. after a stressful flight, my friend was happy to relax and loved their first experience in Sydney. There were great options for vegetarians, something I am always looking out for. My only disappointment was that they didn’t make their own fresh juice. I’ll be happy to pop by again when in the area.

Has Baffi & Mo changed hands in recent years? I’m not sure, but once upon a time it was the BESTTHING since super crunchy peanut butter … but now it just seems like a decent café on Redfern Street — nothing more, nothing less. This café is good for vego meals — a great brunch solution for those not hunting for sausage. It can get packed on weekends, so it’s best to get in early. The coffee isn’t as good as its neighbour opposite — Coffee Tea & Me – but Baffi & Mo definitely shines in terms of food. You can also get macarons and a delightful variety of sweet things. One afternoon they gave me 3 free muffins to take home, must have just been trying to get rid of them, but they were super muffins, fruit filled and rich.

What a brilliant little café. Vintage steal chairs on the outside, vintage green chairs on the in. Old brown leather couch(the type you’d find in a cigar smoking, whiskey drinking boys club), long communal bench, Asian tattooed owner… who lovingly gave me a couple of stamps on their coffee voucher card… stamp the mustache is memorable. Menu is pretty good to. Loads of gluten free options including GF bread for the breaky’s which is a bonus in my book. Some menu highlights: Corn, pea and grilled haloumi fritters with oven roasted tomato sauce($ 14) Potato Hash stack with smoked ham on a bed of mixed salad with avocado, tomato, asparagus and a poached egg($ 16) Muesli with organic yoghurt, fruit and honey($ 9.50) They use single origin roasted coffee beans. Have organic ginger beer and Preshafruit juices(and freshly squeezed if that’s your preference. Cute, gentle male staff. Funky tunes. I’ll be back for sure.

I’d long been hearing about the food at this popular Redfern café, famous for their all day breakfasts and Single Origin coffee. I stopped by late morning — being in the no man’sland between breakfast and lunch, I went for a meal that felt suitably brunch-worthy. My pea and corn fritters were topped with a rich homemade roast tomato sauce and a few strips of grilled haloumi, the saltiness of the cheese offsetting the sweetness of the veg nicely. As expected, the coffee was also very good. The staff were very attentive, but on this super hot day sitting inside was a bit unpleasant — all the hot air was kind of getting stuck inside the room, even though the massive bi-fold doors had been opened. I’ll be headed for one of their outdoor tables under the massive awning on my next visit.

Baffi and Mo is now included in my list of Top 5 Brunches in Sydney. I went in with no expectations and left with a belly full of amazing goodness. The gentrification of the Redfern area is good news if it means that more places like Baffi and Mo will pop up. Everything in this little restaurant seems haphazardly put together, from the mismatched furniture to the intense wallpaper. An open kitchen adds to the cozy neighborhood feel of the restaurant, which attracts a variety of clientel. The fresh cut flowers are also a nice touch. On the menu, you’ll see a decent selection of brunch plates. You have your muesli, yogurt, and eggs, but what you should really get are the heartier selections below. The potato hash with ham, avocado, tomato and asparagus topped with a poached egg is purportedly the most famous on the menu. Feeling like having more of a lunchy brunch, I opted for the Wagyu beef and bean stew, topped with a poached egg and accompanied by loads of buttery bread. I cannot even begin to tell you how tender the beef was, which contrasted beautifully with the thick bite of the beans. As I sliced the egg, I could see that it was faultlessly poached. Overall, brunch at Baffi and Mo was fantastic, and my meal, including a cappuccino, set me back a mere $ 18.

It was just by chance that I ate here a few Saturdays back, as the place was full when I arrived with my 2 companions but it was hammering it down outside, so for one of the first times every, I decided we should be patient and wait rather than walk through the rain to find somewhere less popular. And thank god we did! We ended up only waiting a couple of minutes before a lovely couple must’ve noticed we were waiting and finished their meal as quickly as possible and made way so we could take their seats(or maybe they’d already finished when we arrived), and we took our seats/bench at the large shared table. The menu bore many tempting choice which made me thankful for the rain and my non-waterproof shoes, with my eyes finally coming to rest on the baked eggs with sobrasada(a Mallorcan sausage which is usually spread on bread and often drizzled with a bit of honey). My girlfriend and her friend both ordered the big breakfast(a good judge of any cafés breakfast abilities) and were both rewarded with a huge breakfast! I was rewarded with XXX food porn. So much so, that I thought my girlfriend was going to tell me off for looking at it and not her. The rich tomato sauce combined with the perfectly baked eggs and pieces of melt-in-the-mouth sobrasada, topped with unhealthy lumps of mozzarella, all served in the pan it was cooked in(turns out that’s quite hot) with a side of toasted bread(ciabatta I think, but not certain). It’s making my mouth water just typing about it! Not sure what the other food is like there, but the hash brown certainly looked impressive on the big breakfast, but I wasn’t really paying too much attention to the others’ food! I’m giving it 5 stars purely on the basis of that dish, so if you go there and something else isn’t as good, don’t blame me!

I have not been to Redfern for years and boy has it changed. Still felt a little dubious closer to the station, but as I headed further in the mood and the shops seemed to change. On the recommendations of some twitter friends I found my way down to Baffi & Mo for a coffee and a bite to eat. This trendy little café near Redfern park, with its combination of long benches and a gorgeous brown leather couch was inviting. I noticed just above the checkout was a sign from Single Origin stating that they use Baffi’s blend, and so I started to get excited. Ordering my dbl mac I wished on a hope and prayer that I would not get yet another milky coffee. Atheists don’t have much pull it seems. The coffee itself was fine… for a piccolo latte, and I am sure any latte drinker would be happy… but dbl mac it was not. :-( Moving on, being that it was lunch time, I also needed some food. Using my normal rule, when in doubt, order the burger with the lot I started to wonder if the egg would be nice a runny. What arrived was pure awesomeness on a plate. A burger with bacon, egg, beetroot, caramelized onion and cheese, with an awesome aioli sauce on the side, towered in front of me. One issue was that the cutting board the burger was served on was too small, but that was not going to stop me. Ignoring the knife and fork, I tamed this massive beast one bite at a time. The egg, perfectly runny, continued to cover the meat after each bite. Yum!!! And then… all too soon it was gone. Now normally I would shy away from paying $ 16 for a burger, but this thing was worth it. Finger licking good. Energized by the food I wanted to give the coffee one more chance. Only option was to remove the milk and go for a straight espresso. *Thumbs up* I had made theright move. The coffee was so velvety and rich. So much deliciousness in such a small cup. If only the dbl had had less milk… :-( If you are in Redfern I suggest you try these guys out. Having seen another table order the steak sandwich, I know the burger was no fluke.
