Movies always $ 9, great value with many cinemas getting near $ 20 a ticket.
Snacks are fairly priced too!

As a big fan of the Brighton Windsor cinema, I was looking forward a similar experience closer to home… My final verdict: just pay the extra cash and be comfortable. We weren’t the only ones who tried several seats in the cinema until we found ones that we were happy with… I’ve also never seen such a restless crowd at a cinema, everyone seemed to be shifting constantly to get comfy through the 2.5hr movie.
Yes it’s cheap, so I suggest that you just go for short movies to enjoy it more. (Also, the candy bar seemed overpriced like a Hoyts — boo!)

It’s only $ 8 to come see a film here, that alone should win you over. The seats aren’t great and it doesn’t feature the quality picture and audio of the flashy megaplex things popping up in the recycled air filled shopping malls but this place has charm and character and, did i mention…$ 8 movies!!! Enjoy the gorgeous sea side town (with fresh sea side air) and take in a flick… a perfect day to be had!
Side note: an advantage that the megaplex places have is that their chair arms fold up– better for dates than the chair situation here…

Great value for money where the whole family can go and still have some cash left in their pocket. No organ player here, just excellent value for money. It’s here to stay and in no danger of being sold by any money hungry Council as it’s family owned… YES…power to the people.
With a dash of good old fashioned service in this quaint renovated cinema with cheap tickets all year, at $ 8 a ticket there is no equivalent. Whilst the seats may not be very comfortable, I can manage to sit through a movie but I can’t manage without tissues for the tear jerkers.
And if I may recommend one item to be sold and that’s TISSUES. I forgot to grab a handful from the car, so last minute thinking before entering the cinema was a few serviettes from the drinks area.
And Psst… after a late evening movie on a Friday or Saturday night there’s a new cupcakery opened a stones throw away :-)

Wonder cinema with a long history. It’s gone under many changes in its near century standing.
Fantastic for families that want to see those popcorn flicks. Eight dollar standard as a flat rate and the candy bar is actually reasonably priced.

This is going to be a short review Unilocalians, and there is good reason. There is one thing, and one thing only that you need to know about this Cinema…$ 8. That is how much it costs to see a movie EIGHT BUCKS!

This cinema is an old favourite of mine, everything about it screams vintage. To be honest, it’s how a cinema should feel.
You’re probably thinking why I’m giving it three stars? Well now that you’ve asked I’ll tell you. It unfortunately shows movies a little too late, they don’t have many movies opening the same week they do everywhere else. I like to think of myself as a movie geek and I enjoy going to see movies the week (sometimes the day) they come out. When I check the times and listings for Odeon Star it’s rare that they will be showing what I want to see.
That being said, the great thing about Odeon Star is the incredibly cheap prices, only $ 8 all year round! It’s definitely a bargain, especially for families. They also show a lot of kids movies which again makes Odeon Star a very family friendly cinema. It’s worth checking out.

Walking into the Odeon Star on Semaphore Road is a little bit like taking a trip back in time — in a good way. The cinema itself is of the old school variety, with one small, intimate screen and a huge one with original theatre details: just add quiffs and poodle skirts.
This is no mega-​plex with OTT fluro lights, cavernous spaces and gold-​class seats: the Odeon’s 2 screens are comfy, chilled and cheap, with all tickets to all sessions $ 8 all year round. Movies are new releases and blockbusters, with lots of family friendly flicks — if ONLY they showed cult or art house or Godard midnight screenings… I would bump them up a star in a flash.
The snack bar is well stocked with movie going favourites. Boysenberry choc tops! Buttery popcorn! It’s reasonably priced too: $ 7 for medium drink and popcorn (which is huge!).
In short: a local, family owned cinema with a heart of gold.
