Insieme Café Pizzeria is a strangely located pizza place in Ultimo, but it is clean, open and very uncluttered. I only happened to go there because of an in prompt lunch business meeting. The place presents very well. It tables are clean and set up with brown paper and cutlery ready to go. The menu if very good, especially for a lunch menu. But for an average $ 15 a pizza, they are fanatics. The pizza are big and there toppings were plenty. The serve was attentive, but the place was a little noisy, both naturally and with music just a little too loud. I am definitely going to go back of a night time and try this place with the other half — who considered himself to be a pizza expert.

I’m a regular at Insieme and they never disappoint. The service is attentive without being intrusive, the menu has a good selection of Italian standards as well as several suprise choices and, most importantly, the food is always very tasty. I usually order a pizza as Insieme’s are amongst the best in Sydney. A thin and well cooked base complements fresh herbs and other toppings, all of which are used sparingly to achieve a balanced and delicate taste. This part of Broadway /Ultimo is absolutely full of good food but take the time to wander off the main strip, down Wattle Street, as it’s definitely worth it.

Usually I’m sceptical about coffee shops that advertise their wares by placing a large cardboard sign by the road with a large red arrow pointing coffeewards. You’re embarrassing yourself coffee house, you’re coming off as desperate. I’m equally sceptical when the coffee shop is advertising their ninety nine cent coffee on this tacky display sign. Cheap and desperate? Not a great mix. But today I thought I’d check Insieme out and try this 99c coffee.($ 1.30 for this Soy Cap lover!) Insieme is both a new café and an equally new Wood-Fire Pizza restaurant. The large terracotta oven and wall loaded with lumps of lumber located behind the counter adds an air of excitement as you enter and order your drinks. The deal is valid until the end of December and applies solely to take away coffee. You can see that they’re going for a ‘Cool’ vibe with the famous crooners screen printed onto the walls and the pizzas named after people like Sophia Loren, James Dean and Frank Sinatra. The coffee was quite good and well worth my dollar thirty. I may have even paid two for it.
