Café Sacher

Eines der bekanntesten Kaffeehäuser der Stadt, dadurch leider ziemlich überlaufen. Personal und Speisen/​Getränke sind jedoch der Hammer, wenn man sich von den Preisen nicht abschrecken lässt. Der Eiskaffee im Sommer ist mein Highlight!

Original Sacher torte is dry and uninspiring, they should have let Demel keep the «original» in their name.
Staff was pleasant enough and café was nice, no problem there.
Apple strudel was fresh and good, however I would of liked to have the crust be a little stronger and have more flavor, especially since the apple filling wasn’t as sweet as most.
Probably not worth coming back too, definitely not worth seeking out.

Closer to a 4.5. It’s fun to enjoy a piece of history by trying the original Sacher torte. The service was friendly, the legend was enjoyable to read, and the cake tasted great. It was a bit dry for my tastes (perhaps a little old? But I only tried one slice, so I cannot say), but the surprisingly sour and sweet flavor was very interesting and was complimented well by their whipped cream and original tea. Their tea and fresh fruit juice were delicious. Even though parts of the hotel are under construction, the café still looks great and has a pretty view of the river if you eat outside. Overall, a fun tradition to join in on.

The original Sacher-​Torte is a world famous chocolate cake with a well kept recipe since 1832. The hotel and café are located in Salzburg at Schwarzstrasse 5 – 7, just steps from Mozart’s residence.
The hotel has hosted dignitaries and celebrities from New York mayor Koch, the Dali Lama, Julie Andrews, Tom Hanks, Liza Minnelli to classical music conductors, none of whom I could tell you who they are.
Upon walking in, you’re transformed inside a quaint, picturesque café with the son of Salzburg, Mozart, playing on the speakers.
Unlike in America, where you are quickly seated and served, you almost feel invisible as servers walk past you. Just find a table, the menu is on the table, when you are ready, wave your hand to place your order, and your food also appears in minutes.
We decided on sharing the famous Sacher-​Torte chocolate cake, as I’m not a huge fan of chocolate cake. Stephen had a pot of coffee while I chose a green tea with a tropical flavor, perfect to taking the chill out of a rainy day. He thought the cake was a bit dry, not like what he expected.
The presentation is very classy, as are the signature dishes they use to serve your drinks.
The staff won’t rush you, but will eventually hand you the check. However unlike the initial service, the girl returned quickly to collect the cash.
During nicer weather, it’s supposedly nice to dine al fresco by the river. Inside was just fine, and I’m happy to say i can take it off my list of places to visit.

Had the Sachertorte and it was divine! Certainly worth stopping in.

Came to try the famous Sacher torte after a day in Salzburg. The ambience was beautiful, old school décor of glamour and decadence. Very sweet waiter and good service.
I paired the torte with cappuccino while my friend tried their tea. The external layer of the Sacher torte was creamy and chocolatey but the inside was a little dry for my liking. Not too sweet. Definitely a been there done that item to check off the list.

We came here twice on different days during our stay in Salzburg. They have a patio facing the river in the back and a cozy seating area inside. The inside is very cute. You may sit wherever you want (as is the custom here) and the waitress will come say hello and take your order. I would recommend one of the tables inside next to the windows.
Both times we each ordered a Sachertorte and coffee in a pot to share. The cake itself is not too sweet, but the apricot jam layer between the cake and the outer chocolate coating adds the perfect touch.
The first day the cake was very moist and delicious, and it was nicely paired with the coffee. The second day the cake was slightly dry but we figured this was due to us coming in around 5pm, as opposed to 10am on the first day. No regrets either time, we even dropped by the Café Sacher in Vienna for more…

Top. Hier fühlt man sich wie ein Kaiser bzw eine Kaiserin. So gehört es sich. Das ist zweifelsohne österr. Topqualität in jeder Hinsicht (Ambiente, Service, Essen usw): Einmalig!

Wir waren gestern im Café Sacher und wollten bei unserem Salzburgbesuch natürlich auch in den Genuss der bekannten Sachertorte und einer Mélange kommen.
Was das gediegene Ambiente im Café Sacher mit seiner typischen Wiener Kaffeehaus Atmosphäre und die ausgezeichnete Sachertorte angeht waren wir begeistert, demgegenüber versetzte uns das Personal einen regelrechten Schock.
Die Bedienungen stritten sich zweimal mitten im Gästebereich, was an für sich ja schon ein absolutes No-​Go ist, allerdings geschah dies so laut und in derart polemischer Art und Weise, dass es die Aufmerksamkeit aller Gäste auf sich zog.
Darüber hinaus mussten wir –neben weiteren Gästen– trotz dreimaliger Aufforderung 20 Minuten auf die Rechnung warten.
Der Service hat den Besuch im Café Sacher damit wirklich gefloppt.

We stopped in for a quick coffee and dessert. Cappuccino was good but no better than surrounding cafes. Had the cheese strudel, so hot it burnt my tongue, otherwise good. Wait staff pretty much left us be, which was nice. Enjoyed the ambiance with so many old celebrities on the wall.

My travel buddy read about their famous chocolate torte so while were in Salzburg, we decided to try it.
We entered the restaurant from the back patio area and we didn’t see the host/waitress…just lots of customers already eating but with basically «no server».weird… We walked inside the restaurant and again, there were customers already eating but there was no host/​server to be found. A couple minutes later, we saw a waitress dressed in «maid attire» showed up… She wasn’t to friendly but she sat us and gave us the menu.
We ordered their famous chocolate torte to share and also a drink for each. The server didn’t say anything rude, but she wasn’t friendly. I noticed that she was the ONLY one working in the dining room that had at least 6 to 7 tables full of customers (most are in groups more than 2)…so maybe that was why she was pissed off!!! and lost her friendliness.
I think it was a shame that the restaurant chose not to hire more waitress to run the restaurant.
As soon as the waitress took our order, she VANISHED… basically, she was nowhere to be found. making me wonder if she also runs the back patio area!!!
The cake and drinks came out fairly fast, within 5+ minutes, but it was hard to flag the waitress to give us our check because… she was nowhere to be found! o boy! We did pay… we patiently waited until she showed up!!! and the cake cost around 4.90 euro… not cheap for the small piece of chocolate cake. The torte was definitely over rated, not sure what people are raving about as the cake portion is super dry and the raspberry jam was not layered evenly so «if you’re lucky» you would get the raspberry flavor… The dark chocolate layer on the outside of the cake was very hard and hard to cut with the fork, maybe because they refrigerate the cake… I definitely have had better chocolate cake (And cheaper too).

I think the Sachertorte was over-​hyped to me… I went here specifically for it after dinner, and it was tasty but I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to have it again. I couldn’t order tap water, it had to be a bottle of mineral water that cost as much as the cake (but I encountered this several times in Salzburg, them taking advantage of thirsty people). The playing of one famous part of a Mozart piece repeatedly was a bit irritating as well. But the interior décor was lovely, the service was attentive, and the cake was good enough, it definitely could have been worse. Didn’t hurt to try this famous cake!

Great service, aloof but there when you need them. Great coffee and great tomato soup. Who knew soup was good with all that chocolate flowing. Cozy but great people watching.
Wife had thick hot chocolate. Liked it.

Cool place to have piece of cake and a coffee or a tea, but you ha e to pay €€€€€ for that

Die Mélange ist ein Traum. Ich komme gerne im Frühjahr und sonnigen Herbsttagen um bei einer Tasse Mélange die Atmosphäre in mich aufzunehmen.

Das Ambiente ist stilgetreu und passt perfekt zu der köstlichen Torte und dem vorzüglichem Kaffee. Uns hat es sehr gut gefallen. Der Service war sehr freundlich, schnell und aufmerksam. Der Name hat seinen Preis, aber wir werden auf alle Fälle sehr gerne bei der nächsten Gelegenheit wieder kommen.

Heute Nachmittag waren wir seit längerer Zeit mal wieder im Café Sacher, bei dem guten Wetter haben wir sogar draußen noch einen Platz bekommen. Service wie immer, super. Wir hatten 2 Mélange lecker wie immer und 1 Einspänner, hat auch gut geschmeckt. Dazu 2 Stück Sachertorte und ein Punschdessert schmeckt in Wien trotzdem ein bissl besser, vermutlich weil sie dort keinen Transportweg haben. Gehört einfach zum Salzburg-​Besuch dazu und die Aussicht auf die Altstadt und Salzach ist einfach toll.

Das Sacher haelt was es verspricht. Wunderbares Ambiente, freundlicher Service, tolle Qualitaet und wunderbares Geschirr. Ich komme hier immer wieder gerne hierher. Hier findet man echte Oesterreichische Kultur!

Ich weiß nicht, aber uns hat es im Sacher gut geschmeckt. Wir haben Kartoffelsuppe, Wiener Schnitzel und Kaiserschmarrn gegessen und waren sehr zufrieden. Stimmt, der Service ist etwas langsam, aber sehr freundlich. Und für mich, wie schon woanders geschrieben, ist es ein riesen Pluspunkt, wenn es Sojamilch in einem Café gibt. Hier in Israel schon fast eine Selbstverständlichkeit, da viele an einer Milchzuckerunverträglichkeit leiden und sonst keine Cafes, außer Espresso trinken können. Ich bin mir sicher, daß es in Europa genau so ist.

Ich war mit einem spanischen Gast im Café Sacher. Der dort angebotene kross gebratene Zander war alles andere als kross gebraten und auch weit über den Punkt.
Das Gemüse zu meinem Lamm war extrem fettig und auch optisch nicht unbedingt sehr schön anzusehen.
Die Nachspeise versüßte allerdings den Lunch doch noch und führte zu zwei Sternen die man vergeben kann.
Mit der von mir gelobten und als «ausgezeichnet» dargestellten österreichischen Küche machte mich allerdings lächerlich.

Kann mich weitestgehend anschließen. Das Café ist teuer, die Qualität ist gut (nicht sehr gut). Das Ambiente hat mir nicht gefallen, irgendwie groß und offen, nicht gemütlich. Das Personal wirkte etwas grantig ;)

Der große Name weckt natürlich Erwartungen.
Leider werden diese nicht erfüllt.
Service: Langsam und wenig motiviert
Speisen: Sachertorte für ein «Original» nicht wirklich gut und sehr trocken…
Getränke: Das übliche aber sehr teuer
Ambiente: Der Erwartung ensprechend, etwas puffig und in die Jahre gekommen
Preise: Absolut überzogen
FAZIT: Kann man sich antun muss man aber nciht.

Man kommt voller Vorfreude und Erwartung ins Café Sacher und wird in Sekunden aufs bedauerlichste ernüchtert. Der sprichwörtliche Charme österreichischer Servicekräfte ist wohl ein abgelegter Mythos aus 60er-​Jahre Schmonzetten.
Ich hoffe das ich und die eben erwähnten einfach einen schlechten Tag hatten, gehe aber sicher nicht mehr, wenn überhaupt, ohne Vorbehalte ins Café.
Schade eigentlich.

Verzopfter pseudo k.u.k.-Charme für die Zielgruppe Touris ab 50.

Leider kann ich das Sacher nicht bewerten, da wir trotz nur drei besetzter Tischen leider nicht reindurften, weil wir frecherweise nicht reserviert hatten. Ein schneller Kaffee vor dem Mozarteum war uns somit leider nicht vergönnt. Hoffentlich ist so ein Benehmen nicht die Regel.

Zum Ambiente hat queerbet schon die passenden Worte gefunden. Deshalb noch ein paar Worte zur Sachertorte :-)
Wie der Name schon sagt, kommt die original Sachertorte vom Hotel Sacher in Wien. Sowohl das Hotel Sacher in Wien als auch in Salzburg gehören der Familie Gürtler.
Somit bekommt Ihr hier natürlich die original Sachertorte, die man einfach probiert haben muss. Meiner Meinung nach ist die original Torte auch ganz klar die Beste.

Die Sachertorte kommt zwar eigentlich aus Wien, aber bei einem Ausflug nach Österreich ist man ja immerhin schon im Heimatland der Sachertorte, daher bietet es sich geradezu an, solch ein gehaltvolles Stückchen zu vernaschen. Noch dazu liegt das Café Sacher praktischerweise auf dem Weg vom Bahnhof zur Altstadt, also nichts wie hinein in die gute Stube!
Das Café Sacher bietet Kaffeehaus-​Charme. Das Interieur erinnert an frühere Zeiten, es überwiegt ein rötlicher Stoff, das sowohl die langen Bänke an den Wänden und die Stühle als auch die Wände selbst ziert. An den Fenstern sind traditionell große weiße Gardienen angebracht und von der Decke her sorgen große Kronleuchter für Licht. Die Serviererinnen sind in schwarz-​weiß gekleidet und tragen ein weißes Häubchen auf dem Kopf.
Die Kaffee-​Auswahl ist ebenfalls traditionell und reicht vom kleinen Schwarzen über die Mélange bis zum Kaffee Verkehrt (Milchkaffee). All dies wird auf einem Silbertablett mit einem Glas Wasser, auf dem der Löffel liegt, serviert.
Und dazu die Sachertorte!
Im Café Sacher bekommt man die «Original Sacher-​Torte», die im Gegensatz zu «Demel’s Sachertorte» (die auch «Echte Sacher-​Torte» genannt wird) zwei Marmeladenschichten enthält. Einen direkten Vergleich habe ich nicht und vor meinem Besuch im Café Sacher wusste ich auch wenig über die Streitigkeiten, welche Variante nun echt oder original sei. Jedenfalls war die zweischichtige Torte äußerst saftig und einfach ein Genuss.
Das Café Sacher ist ein guter Anlaufpunkt für Touristen und sicher auch, um Besuchern ein wenig Tradition zu demonstrieren. Würde ich in Salzburg leben, wäre ich aber sicherlich auch nicht häufiger als ein paar Mal im Jahr dort. Warum eigentlich? Ich denke, es liegt an dem Ambiente, das durch die distanzierten, eher gestresst wirkenden Serviererinnen herüberkommt und auch das Publikum erschien mir als eine Mischung aus Touristen und gehobener Klasse. Eine Kombination, in der ich mich nicht regelmäßig wohl fühlen würde, sondern höchstens dann, wenn ich — wie vor Kurzem — selbst zu den Touristen gehöre ;-)
