Pure Living Bakery

Ihr könnt ihr es nicht vorstellen, wie ich mich auf das Pure Living Bakery gefreut habe. Ich habe so viele Fotos gesehen, eure guten Berichte gelesen und meine Erwartungen waren dem entsprechend. Warum also 3 Sterne? Eigentlich sind es 3,5 Sterne, aber mehr gibts nicht. Ich habe nämlich ungefähr 15 Minuten auf meinen Kaffee gewartet, obwohl das Café halb leer war. Und weil ich für einen Kaffee und Kuchen 10 Euro mit Trinkgeld bezahlt habe. Ist kein Schnäppchen, oder? Der Karottenkuchen (der hier eigentlich Waikiki Kuchen heißt) hat gut geschmeckt, aber für 4,90 € musste er das auch.
An sich sieht das Café sehr sehr schön aus, die Deko macht schon ´né tolle Atmosphäre und man wünscht sich so was zu Hause zu haben, aber auch wenn ich eigentlich voll auf das Design achte, hat es für meinen erster Besuch nicht gereicht. Dazu gab es kein WLAN, was mich sehr überrascht hat. So was erwarte ich bei so einem gemütlichen Café in Neubau, das nach dem schreit, damit die Leute hier ihre Zeit verbringen. Sonst wäre auch es super geeignet zum Arbeiten.

«Damals», nach der Gründung und Eröffnung der beiden Filialen war ich oft hier und hätte in meinen besten Zeiten wohl 4, wenn nicht sogar 5 Sterne, vergeben. Diese Bewertung bezieht sich nun auf die Filiale in der Burggasse.
In den letzten Monaten /​Jahren gings mit der Pure Living Bakery in meinen Augen jedoch ständig bergab. Warum? Das Personal ist unglaublich langsam — es herrscht ohnehin schon mal Selbstbedienung, was für mich in einem eigentlich gemütlichen Café ohnehin ein No-​Go ist. Die Menschen hinter dem Tresen sind meist unglaublich langsam und es bilden sich ewige Schlangen. (Ich frage mich ja schon immer wie lange die Angestellten hier bleiben — anscheinend müssen ständig neue Leute eingeschult werden.) Hat man dann mal bestellt dauert es eine weitere gefühlte Ewigkeit bis man seine Leckerein mitnehmen darf.
Aber halt, Leckereien? Ja, die Kuchen und Kaffees sind immer noch ganz nett, aber das Alleinstellungsmerkmal ist in den letzten Jahren verloren gegangen. Hier kommt auch mein nächster Punkt, der Preis ins Spiel — für diese Portionsgröße und Qualität ist mir die Pure Living Bakery inzwischen eindeutig zu teuer.
Was ich immer noch toll finde: Ja, die Möbel und das Design sind toll! Aber jetzt werde ich trotzdem mal anderen Cafes den Vorzug geben. Vielleicht schau’ ich ja in ein paar Monaten wieder mal vorbei.

After a few attempts to enjoy this place as it would seem possible at first glance, I must update my review slightly. First i thought my glass of water from the first review was an exception, but no, let me tell you — I do not think anyone has ever smiled at me there. In one word, the service needs all kinds of improvement. In addition to not being overly charming, it is extremely slow. First I thought, OK it is real busy on most days, and you need to mix all those milkshakes and all. No, it is rather as if they went to milk the cow first. Even when there were about ten people in the whole café in total, it took forever to just get a cup of tea. No wonder they do not take orders already around half an hour before closing time. I mean they definitely wouldn’t make it. And by that I mean, you can’t even obtain a piece of cake from the vitrine then. You are standing at the counter since it is half-​self-​service anyway, asking nicely to buy that one ready-​made piece of cake, that you would then inhale quickly and they are like, nope — we are closing (in half an hour!). A bagel or shake I would understand, but not a cake or cookie… It would generally make much more sense to wait and collect your order once you place it, instead of going back to your table with a number that they then look for once they are ready — I only hope they have their reasons — which are once again beyond me. Also, check the opening times carefully cause the hours seem to vary on different sites. I must point out that the only person who is always really nice and friendly is the owner herself — I just wonder how come she doesn’t pass it on to the staff, since that is what normally happens. Because if they believe the whole place will come across hipper if the staff is not smiling excessively, I wish somebody tells them that is not the way to go. After waiting for that milkshake last time to the point of almost leaving some weeks ago, and then finally receiving a mediocre sugary drink with no special twist in the taste to make it worth the wait, I decided it is time to give chance to other numerous cafes in the area.

Pure living bakery ist ein Café mit Kuchen und Bagels im californischen Stil im Angebot, hat mich irgendwie an ein «Hollister Café» erinnert. Das Interieur war bunt zusammen gewürfelt, aber eher auf gebraucht und Landhausstil. Ich habe ein New York Flexitarian Bagel und ein Lemon-​Ginger Tee bestellt. Generell fand ich das ganze Café sehr überteuert. Ein Café americano hat 4,10 €, mein Tee 3,80 €, der Bagel 8,20 € gekostet. Der Bagel war mit sehr viel Salat und Gemüse belegt, aber mit verhältnismäßig wenig Lachs. Die Kellner waren freundlich, aber eher schüchtern. Im Allgmeinen ein nettes Café, aber für mich persönlich bisschen zu teuer.

Hier gibt es nicht nur köstlichen Kaffee, leckere Bagels und zuckersüßen Kuchen!
Die Bakery besticht durch charmantes Shabby Interieur, tolle entspannt/​lockere Musik und besten Service!
Hipster aus aller Welt treffen sich hier zum gemütlichen Gespräch und wohltuendem Smoothie!
Am Sonntag: Um 10:30 war das Café noch ganz ruhig und freue Sitzplatzwahl möglich. Ab 12:00 füllt es sich!

This wonderful cozy café in 7^th feels like home. I could spend hours here, spending a lot of money on those amazing drinks and cakes.
The interior makes me feel like I am sitting in someone’s living room and makes me want to stay here forever — that is very smart because the prices are actually quite high but because of the atmosphere people simply don’t want to leave.
Also their cakes and cookies are amazing. I have to say though, that after my last experience I am not sure how much of their food comes from a freezer and what is fresh. At least I know for sure that the bagels are frozen, because when my friend ordered one, the barista answered that they have to first unfreeze them (and she really came back with a huge plastic bag full of frozen bagels).
But I don’t care, because I am here for cakes and coffee, therefore I am giving this place all 5 stars. Don’t forget to try their dirty chai!!!

The place has a fantastic array of desserts — cake, ice cream, cookies, waffles — you name it. I tried the double cheesecake along with a cappuccino, both of which were very good. It has a laid-​back, beach vibe to it with tables quite close to each other giving it a cozy, almost communal atmosphere. The service is fairly quick, however the staff could work on being more friendly — this isn’t absolutely necessary but going over the history of the bakery on the first page of their menu, you’d assume that hospitality is a big part of who they are/​want to be. Nevertheless, I’d definitely recommend it.

Cute little place! Delicious shakes! Although I would not recommend bringing your strollers here. Totally inaccessible and small for strollers! A no no for wheelchairs too. There is an outdoor seating area.

The ice cream business is very competitive in the 7^th these days. I did like the ice cream here, and would come back for coffee and cake. However, it did not blow me away, and the portions were very inconsistent. My 2 scoops were much larger than my husband’s 3. :\ In general I find the scoops too small, but flavours are quite nice.
The interior and outside seating area look very nice and they do create a welcoming atmosphere.

Nice place but they aren’t very friendly. The Unilocal site should say not child friendly as it isn’t.

Relaxed, cozy, really home-​like atmosphere with chilling music and smiley and polite staff members! The Pure Living Bakery offers a genuine experience with delicious desserts, hot bagels and homemade icecream… I’m not even going into coffee variety and smoothies ;-) you’ll try it out for yourself, right?! ;-)

we had breakfast there — a delicious bagel with mozzarella, tomatoes and pesto and monster cinnamon rolls; coffee is really great!
furniture is also super cozy, so I really recommend this place!

Die Pure Living Bakery inklusive der Ice Dream Factory sind einfach ein Traum! Die Eiscreme ist komplett selbst gemacht und es gibt unfassbar gute Variationen.
Die Bakery habe ich noch gar nicht getestet muss ich gestehen, da ich mich in die Waffeln verliebt habe. Die mit diesen unfassbar guten Eissorten verfeinert — ich schmelze schon, nur bei dem Gedanken daran. Ein guter Kaffee dazu, ach was will man denn mehr?! Leider ist es wirklich nicht ganz billig, aber so oft schaut man auch nicht hin! Die Kellner sind auch alle super freundlich — ein Besuch wert! :-)

Geschmacklich einfach top, Cafes, Kuchen, Bagels mir schmeckt einfach alles dort.
Wie die Bakery erst relativ neu war, hat man mehr für sein Geld bekommen die Kuchengröße ist leider um die Hälfte geschrumpft, hält mich aber nicht ab ein zwei mal im Monat dort zu schlemmen.
Die Atmosphäre ist gut gemütlich, und die Bedienung ist auch immer nett.

If you have a sweet tooth, you shouldn’t miss this amazing and welcoming place. Right from the entrance, you’ll be appealed by the wonderful smell and the view of all those appetizing cakes!
They have so many yummy drinks too, with or without coffee & chocolate, with milk or soy milk (+0,50 €), cold or warm, and all sort of smoothies too!
A paradise for any of us. With the fall being back, I really enjoyed my chai soy latte :)
As for the décor, it is very cute and seems lost in the 50es-​60es, with disparate tables, chairs and comfy sofas, and nice pictures on the wall.

Ich war das erste mal in diesem Lokal. Es wird aber dabei bleiben. Die Einrichtung ist recht zusammengewürfelt aber nicht ungemütlich. Die Bedienung sehr unfreundlich, wollte nur ein Foto vom Kuchen machen, habe sofort fotografier Verbot bekommen. Aber in einem Ton, den man einem Gast gegenüber nicht haben sollte. Wenn ich nicht in Begleitung gewesen wäre, ich hätte das Lokal sofort verlassen .
Bin mir vorgekommen als ob ich Ford Knox fotografieren wollte …

Really good sandwiches. Good hot drinks. Good pastries. Friendly staff. Comfortable seating.

Wunderbare Location, die schwer mit einem Wort zu beschreiben ist. Ich versuch’s mal mit Backstube/​Coffeeshop/​Eisladen/​Hangout aber am ehesten fällt mir dazu ein: kalifornisches Wohnzimmer. Hier würden also die Surferdudes und –dudinen abhängen — sowie ich.
Die Deko innen ist herzallerliebst, echt kreativ und macht Spaß. Das Ambiente vermittelt dir gleich sonniges Wohlgefühl und die Kuchenkreationen, Milchshakes und Cheesecakes ein sonniges Gefühl in der Magengegend. Naschkatzen wissen jetzt wovon ich spreche.
Aber auch für die nicht so Süssen unter uns gibt’s herzhafte Bagels. Und für die Königinnen unter den Süssen gibt’s hausgemachte Waffeln mit sündhaften Toppings — ein Hochgenuss!
Alles ist hier ein bisserl langsamer, aber eben auch selbst gemacht und in der netten Atmosphäre warte ich gerne auch mal ein bisserl länger auf meinen an der Theke bestellten Kaffee. Der Ohrensessel ist so gemütlich, dass man hier die Zeit einfach so verstreichen lässt. Ein Ort zum Seelebaumeln lassen und im Sommer gibt’s einen schattigen Schanigarten, den es sich lohnt auch mal auf zu suchen vor allem, wenn man auf der Flucht vor der Hitze ist. Da gibt’s dann noch ein Empfehlung: die Iced-​Kaffeekreationen.
Also mir fällt kein Grund ein warum ich die Pure Living Bakery nicht uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen könnte.

Simply put, Pure Living Bakery is one of Vienna’s top bakeries/​konditorei/​cafés/​coffeehouses/​tea houses/​ice cream parlors … however you choose to label it. Charming atmosphere, friendly staff, tasty products — how can you not like it? There is the original location of Pure Living in Hietzing that is also pleasant, but the convenient popular branch in Neubau is the go-​to place. Now go!

Die Pure Living Bakery würd ich spontan mal mit einem Wort beschreiben: Entzückend. Und zwar nicht auf süße, kitchige weise sondern man merkt dass alles durchdacht und mit Liebe eingerichtet und gestaltet ist. Die Inneneinrichtung find ich einfach super schön — passt genau hier in den 7.Bezirk. Ein weiteres Riesenplus ist die Riesenauswahl. Sooo viele Kuchen, Shakes und Co — da braucht man eine kleine Ewigkeit um die Karte zu studieren :)
Samstag Morgen ist hier aber überraschend viel los und demnach dauert es etwas länger bis alles am Tisch angelangt ist, die Bedienung ist aber sehr bemüht und freundlich. Bei dem schönen Wetter gibt es jetzt auch Tische draußen. Bestellt und bezahlt wird vorab an der Theke drinnen, dann wird das Bestellte an den Tisch gebracht.
Die Speisen und Getränke sind was ganz besonderes. Der Milchshake mit weißer Schokolade und Erdbeer ist absolut traumhaft.
Ein super liebes Lokal dass ich allen wärmstens empfehle :)

I would give this place 6 stars if I could!!! :-D The atmosphere is extremely relaxing thanks to the décor and the lovely music in the background and the choice they have… WOW! Coming here feels like being on vacation!
Perfect to hang out with friends and to concentrate and relax on your own.

Over priced mediocre coffee and the décor mimics an abandon Cape Cod rental cottage from the early 50’s

Love the concept, love the décor, don’t love the prices.
For me the concept of an American style bakery in Vienna is awesome and people are obviously willing to pay the prices but I don’t know… I’m just not hooked. I suppose it is similar to Starbucks prices.
There is a good variety of cakes, hot drinks and milkshakes though. And I can vouch for the milkshakes. They are amazing.
But, prepare yourself for «lukewarm chocolate» if you order a «hot chocolate»…you literally have to drink the whole thing in 5 minutes before it turns cold (this appears to be common all over Vienna for some unknown reason).
I have been here a few times but there are other places in Vienna that I prefer.

Pure Living Bakery is an amazing American-​style bakery in Vienna.
When you step inside, you’re step into a little wonderland with rustic and mismatched chairs and tables, and cute décor on the walls. The inside feels very cozy and you could easily spend hours there chatting with a friend.
The food and drink options are also excellent. They have an array or homemade cakes and other sweets to eat and a full coffee bar. There’s a boutique ice cream shop in there with them and you can taste the perfect blend of these two shops by getting one of their amazing and thick milkshakes.

The pure living bakery is a place you feel instantely comfortable. it reminded me a lot of my trip to Cape Code. Thousands of pictures on the wall, maritime elements everywhere and a light and comfortable interior. the seats are covered with coffee bean jute sacks what makes it cozy to sit on the mostly wood furniture. the cakes are really good (with the crumble you are supposed to eat vanilla ice cream!) and they serve the whole portfolio to please coffee– and teadrinkers. the service is nice and forthcoming, but you have to go to the bar to order, later they bring you the things to the table. Overall this place is a unique spot in Vienna’s coffee house scene and I will be happy to go there more often in the future!

Zum Eis kann ich (noch) nichts sagen, aus der Pure Living Bakery habe ich einen Kirsch-​Marzipan Crumble und eine Zimtschnecke mit nachhause genommen: letztere war sogar nach dem Transport innen noch gefroren, der Crumble war nicht ganz durchgebacken, zog Teigfäden und schmeckte mäßig. Leider kein guter Ersteindruck, obwohl das wunderhübsche Ambiente des Lokals viele Ahhhs und Ohhhs verursacht hatte. Auch die Bedienung an der Theke war sehr nett. Hoffentlich bekomme ich beim nächsten Besuch die Qualität, die den Preisen angemessen ist???

Die Ice Dream Factory und die Pure Living Bakery teilen sich ein Geschäftslokal und man weiß gar nicht, für was man sich entscheiden soll: super-​leckeres Eis oder super-​leckere Kuchen! Ich empfehle sich gleich beides zu bestellen, oder wiederzukommen!

Erinnert an einen der alten, heimeligen Coffeshops, wie man sie zB in Großbritannien an fast jeder Ecke findet. Möbel im Vintage-​Stil, hausgemachte Torten, Brownies, Waffeln und Cookies und ein breites Sortiment an Zeitschriften. Tee– und Kaffeespezialiäten von A bis Z. Ein Ort zum Wohlfühlen!

Oh was bin ich für ein Fan von der Pure Living Bakery! So ein Café hab ich mir schon ewig gewünscht, und da ich den Ursprungsstandort in Hietzing noch nicht aufgesucht hab find ichs toll dass es jetzt in der Burggasse eine Filiale gibt.
Zum Café: man spaziert rein und fühlt sich wie in einem internationalen Coffeeshop, aber einem der sehr, sehr gemütlichen Art. Sehr viel Holz und eine derart bunt zusammengewürfelte Einrichtung wie ich sie noch nie gesehen habe, angeblich hat die Besitzerin auf ihren Flugreisen durch die Welt das alles mitgenommen und nach Wien getragen… so sieht es jedenfalls aus.
Das Speiseangebot reicht von diversen Kuchen über Sandwiches bis zu Smoothies und diversen Kaffeevariationen. Hier der einzige Wermutstropfen: es ist eigentlich alles sauteuer. Ein Stück Kuchen für 3,80 Euro wär sogar für den ersten Bezirk gewagt, die Smoothies bewegen sich so um 6 Euro pro Glas. Das ist ganz schön gewagt, aber mir gefällt der Laden so gut, dass ich mich von den Preisen nicht abschrecken lassen werde. Ein Wort auch zur Bedienung: sicher unter den Top 3 freundlichsten in Wien, zumindest bei meinem Erstbesuch, bitte weiter so!
