Once heard that there is a new pay-as-you-wish restaurant, I had to immideately go to check it out! Within the last couple of months I have been there already a few times and this has become one of the main options for those situations when I just want to have a peaceful lunch on my own between my classes. It is actually a pity, that most of the potential visitors have probably been in Wiener Deewan already, so unfortunately it is quite unavoidable to compare both places. But these two places are soooo different! In contrast to Deewan, Shahi Dera is very peaceful and quiet(to some it may even seem a bit boring), which I think is because not that many people have discovered the place yet. But they should! Because the food in the all-you-can-eat-buffet is good and fresh, but they also have a menu of other dishes, which I haven’t tried though. You always get as much water for free as you like and the waiters are actually all very nice and friendly — they make each guest feel very welcome(which is something Deewan has lost already, due to all those crowds there) and in combination to the nice interior I always get the feeling that I am visiting friends and eating in their living room. :) But they also have quite a lot of place(in other rooms) for big groups, which is nice! And they also offer take-away. Don’t expect too much fun and the student-hipster atmosphere which you get in Deewan, but rather think of it as a quiet and peaceful restaurant where you can have your peace! The only reason I don’t give 5 stars is because I think the owners could do a bit more advertisement for this place! :)
