Zina’s

This place is a gem! The food was truly delicious. I had the beet appetizer and the lamb rolls for the main course and both were very flavorful and tasty. The service was great as well. The waiters were super friendly and attentive. I cannot wait to go back.

Zina has an interesting twist to it. The menu is short but sweet but the prize is in their daily weekday meals. The meals are a bargain itself but focused on bringing its oriental cuisine to the customer.
The staff are polite, helpful and can be seen trying to make it right for you. Even though it is a small place, I have always been lucky to find a table. This place always seem to be busy whether lunch or dinner. The atmosphere is comfortable but not targeting a grand restaurant experience. Just focus on the meal served…
Their daily weekday meals are always served with soup and main meal. There is always two main meals: one with and one without meat. My advice: just take anything that has lentils. Each time I’ve had a different meal with lentils, but the result remained the same… spectacular!

Had a great lunch from the fixed menu. Potato soup was delicious! Looking forward to returning for dinner sometime!

OK — I did read a few reviews on Unilocal about this place before going there. I must say this place is what have been said and more. We walked in about 7:20 in the evening, it was drizzling a bit, so outside seating was not an option. Three of us walked into the restaurant and it was completely booked. The owner quickly brought three chairs for us to seat while they started looking into where they can seat us. As they were exploring, one table opened up and the quickly sat us. Our first impression was people were very welcoming and nice.
This is a family restaurant the husband and the wife (Zina) manages this with Zina’s parents providing the book keeping service. Zina’s mother and husband were cooking in the kitchen. Zina was providing service along with her sister (I think). Her son was playing video game there as well. This is a fully family restaurant.
They have menu both in German and English. The menu provides an excellent choice in terms of variety and price is very reasonable. We ordered lentil soup to fried potatoes to chicken liver as appetizers. Two of us had lamb (different preparation) and another one had beef. All preparations were fresh, delivered quickly and just delicious. We then ordered desserts and even one of us had birthday celebrated on house (one free dessert). We ordered chocolate, orange pudding and date cookies. Each one of them were great although my favorite was the date cookie called ‘be my date’. We then had two drinks each. The total bill was 113 euro. Did I mention that they gave one free serving of rice because — potatoes were being cooked.
This is the place. It should be on your list.

Wir wurden sofort als Gäste, die das erste Mal hier waren, erkannt und mit einer kurzen Einführung in die Art der Speisen begrüßt
Und wenn wir mehr Interesse gezeigt hätten (wir waren ein wenig müde von der Arbeit am Computer), dann hätten wir sicher noch mehr erfahren.

Dieses Mal haben wir «nur» gegessen, und das ausgezeichnet.
Die Rechnung war handgeschrieben und daher kommt sie in unser Reisetagebuch.
Mit der Befürchtung, dass diese persönliche Art der Rechnungslegung bald verschwinden wird.

Das Zina’s ist ein bodenständiges, mediterranes Lokal, das von einer sympathischen Familie geführt wird. Speisen sehr gut, Ambiente gemütlich inklusive nettem Schanigarten direkt auf der Praterstraße. Wenn man sich die Website und das Logo des Lokals ansieht, würde man hier ein total hippes, fancy Lokal erwarten. Nicht, dass mir das bodenständige Ambiente nicht gefallen würde, aber das Design ist doch etwas irreführend. Die einzig wirkliche Kritik, die mir einfällt, ist, dass man zu Mittag nur aus 2 Gerichten wählen kann und nicht von der Speisekarte bestellen kann. Dies geht nämlich erst am Abend.

Einfach magisch, dieses Essen. Durch Zufall entdeckt. Superfreundlich. Viele Speisen auch vegetarisch ;-). Wir hatten vier verschiedene Essen. Eines besser als das andere. Danke an den Koch, der sich uns auch vorgestellt hat. Wir würden soooo gerne wiederkommen, sind aber auch Deutschland. Trotzdem danke für den superleckeren Abend.

This is a fantastic restaurant, near Prater. Excellent service, excellent food and reasonable prices. It was about a 5 minute walk from the rides, so a great place to get away from the noise and have a nice meal. It is also a short walk from the subway or historic area. Highly recommended.

We were greeted at the door by the owner who told us the restaurant business named after his wife. He guided us through our selections. Especially good was the Oriental beets done with yogurt and sesame tahini. Falafel was very light and delicious. Main dish was a veal goulash in yogurt sauce. Everything was great, they gave us a little complimentary mint frozen drink. First time I’ve had Syrian recipes. Highly recommended.

Der Familienbetrieb wird mit einer wunderbaren persönlichen Freundlichkeit geführt. Die Empfehlung ein Vorspeisen Teller für 2 Personen, dem wir uns zu dritt geteilt haben. Leecker!
Hauptspeise ancient Damaskus eine Kombination aus Hackfleisch mit frische Tomaten und wunderbaren Kräutern.

Having just arrived in by train we were hungry, rather tired and in the daze that accompanies arriving in a new city. Zina’s came up on our search for nearby spots with good ratings so we headed over. They were on a short break, but the owner very kindly invited us in anyway, starting us with a recommendation for a lovely Lebanese wine. Following this he helped us select an appetizer tour which was truly amazing, including the falafel, hummus, crevette, lentils and red Andalusia. Following this he suggested, and I cannot recommend enough, the magic ravioli. The flavor combination in this dish is so delightfully surprising! Desert was the date torte and the orange delight (WoW!!). Both were in keeping with the rest of the meal, which is to say, delicious, surprising, and truly satisfying.
Our evening here made us feel so welcomed to Wien and fed us body and soul.
Such a complete experience of excellent food, astoundingly warm, genuine, truly kind service at a family restaurant.

Enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Nice find near the bus station and fair grounds. I had the small appetizers plate, and it was very good. I combined the oriental plate, he hummus, and chicken liver — delicious. My brother had the chicken kebabs and loved those as well, finished it all up.

Where do I begin? We stumbled upon this place our first night in Vienna and I am so happy we did. The food was exquisite. It was so good We ate there two more nights in a row. We would have eaten there every night we were in town but they close on Sunday. It is very much a family business. The food is authentic, the real deal. The owners were so kind and even gave me some of their delicious spices. I would go again to Vienna, mostly just to eat at this restaurant. (The owners also speak great english which was a big help) Bön Appetite!

Das Zina’s stand seit Martin K.‘s Bericht auf meiner Liste — gestern war ich dort und muß auf der Stelle meine 5 Punkte für dieses kleine feine Lokal ausposaunen.
Allgemein: Wir haben einen gemütlichen Tisch ergattert (Empfindlichen empfehle ich den zweiten Raum, da es im ersten durch die offene Küche etwas nach Speisen riecht) und waren begeistert vom netten Service (Zina selbst hat uns das Konzept der Speisekarte erklärt), dem libanesischen Bier und dem hausgemachten Dattelsaft-​Getränk.
Essen: Wir haben uns auf die Verkostung von kalten und warmen Vorspeisen beschränkt, die man zusammenstellen kann, wie man möchte. Für 1 Person kosten 3 Vorspeisen 11,90 — für 2 18,90. Kein Schnäppchen aber durch die Qualität der Speisen absolut gerechtfertigt. Wir haben zu Dritt 9 verschiedene Portionen verkostet, dazu gemischtes Brot und eine Portion home-​made chips, alles sehr gut!
Obwohl wir alle satt wurden, mußten wir noch unbedingt zwei der drei köstlich klingenden Nachspeisen versuchen: den Milchpudding mit Orangengelee (so gut!), und den Dattelkuchen (dünner Pie, überraschend neuer Geschmack mit toller Konsistenz, unbedingt probieren!!!).
Einstimmiges Urteil: unpackbar gut!

Das Zina‘s definiert sich als libanesisch– mediterranes Restaurant und befindet sich im Teil der Praterstraße, der nicht mehr weit vom Praterstern entfernt ist sprich die Lage ist nicht besonders günstig. Dieser Umstand hat wohl das mexikanische Vorgängerlokal, das sogar von einer Unilocalergruppe positiv getestet wurde, zum Aufgeben gezwungen.
Der Einrichtungsstil wirkt nicht überfrachtet, der Gast merkt, dass es eine eigene, liebevoll aufbereitete libanesisch angehauchte Stilistik besitzt. Das Lokal gibt es noch nicht so lange, deswegen wird der Gast sehr gut umsorgt und gleich mal zu Beginn seines Besuchs mit einem gratis Dattelsaft (eigen im Geschmack aber gut) begrüsst.
Auf der Getränkekarte dominieren neben alkoholfreien Getränken diverse Weinspezialitäten wobei ich den Genuss eines libanesischen Rotweins (Château Ksara Cabernet– Bekaa Valley) sehr empfehlen kann. Aus der Speisekarte kann der Gast neben diversen kalten und warmen Vorspeisenvariationen aus warmen Speisen vom Topf (Mediterranean Pot), vom Grill und vom Sandwichmacher (BBQ Steak Wrap) wählen. Meine Begleitung war ganz angetan von der Zartheit des Hühnchens des Gerichts «Chicken Stewers». Mir selbst hat das Gericht «Ancient Damaskus», eine speziell libanesische Mischung aus Lasagne und Chilli con Carne, sehr gut geschmeckt. Sonst stehen noch Gerichte namens «Moms Pie», «Magic Ravioli» und «Fishermans Catch» auf der Speisekarte.
Wer eine echt erfrischende Nachspeise möchte, testet am besten das Orange Temptation! Es handelt sich dabei um einen Milchpudding mit karamelisierten Orangenscheiben.
Zusammenfassend kann ich jeder Person empfehlen, dieses Lokal aufzusuchen, um die sehr gut schmeckenden und gewürzten libanesisch– mediterranen Gerichte zu probieren. Das Personal ist wirklich engagiert und vermittelt Freude an der Arbeit.
