It happened more than once in the past I paid loads of money for a gym membership and then end up not going for sometimes weeks in a row. So I was in the market for a cheaper gym where I wouldn’t waste too much money that way… Fit For Free fitted the bill. Notwithstanding the peculiar name, you still have to pay for a membership, but what you pay here, is what some other gyms ask for one or two months. The low price made it even possible to pay a whole year in advance, thus avoiding the by me despised direct debit. Apart from the low price tag, the big advantage of this gym is that is is still quite new, so the equipment is quite new as well. That means everything is still working, and so far, even minor problems have been resolved quickly. Since I opted for the cheapest membership, I can only enter before 17h00, but that means I’ve usually finished my workout before the after-work crowds come. One has to pay € 0,50 for three minutes of shower time here, but since I live just a couple of hundreds of meters from the gym, I usually just shower and change at home. I still need to use a locker to store my street shoes and trainer jacker, something one needs to bring a padlock for. Pay attention though: even when locked, some lockers still can be opened very easily! They’ve promised me to look into this issue though.
