It’s been almost a year since I’ve been back to this place and I remember it being great. Two were great and two others were a little disappointing. We came back to catch part of the Carnaval Bloco that went down this street. So it was a perfect starting point and a good view of the festivities from the second floor balcony. The pizzas are medium size and are cut into four slices(although technically you can easily cut them in 6 or 8 slices which would make them more manageable). They also allow you to do half and half, so two pizza flavors on one pizza pie. It’s enough to feed 2 people, that said, it’s a little pricey. But the quality is really good and worth the price for two of them which we enjoyed. My favorite was the most expensive one, Flamenca, with Spanish chorizo on it and costs R$ 94! I also tried the artichoke pizza which was also quite tasty and was maybe R$ 10 cheaper. We also tried the namesake pizza, Stravaganze, which we thought must be perfected but were quite disappointed. It has gorgonzola, pear, walnuts and garlic cloves, but made so hastily that they were undercooked. No one wants to bite into a raw garlic clove! The other one, the Maratea, with green onions and goat cheese was also were severely undercooked, leaving the veggies raw. They did serve us quickly so maybe the other two were popular enough to be pre-cooked and reheated and the less popular two were hastily made to come out at the same time? You can see the wood fire ovens and the chefs in the back making the pizzas so they are made right there on the spot. The best view to watch them is from upstairs. So it’s a split. I would only come back for those two pizzas, or ones that don’t have too many vegetables on them. Service was decent. They have only one unisex bathroom. The setting is quite elegant and the upstairs has a skylight ceiling that makes you feel like you’re under the trees and stars.

We truly enjoyed our meal at Stravaganze Pizzeria while in Ipanema. The pizzas are always delicious and the staff is super friendly and enjoy having children come to dine(they have pizza dough and toys for the littles to play with)! We got a superb bottle of wine, delicious meal and service that was spectacular. This will continue to be a spot we visit every time we’re in Ipanema!

Decent pizza, but I will probably not be returning. 20 euros for a pizza is simply outrageous. And it’s simply not that fantastic, especially if you’ve actually eaten real Italian pizza. The setting is ok though.

When in the mood for Pizza, this is a great option. Diverse types of flavors and all made on the spot. Ambience and décor of the restaurant is great — especially on the second floor!
