Camp Bow Wow HRM / Halifax Dog Boarding and Daycare

These guys and gals are fantastic!
I have a high energy dog, who also comes along with a not so great start in life. Because of this she was terrified of just about everything: people and other dogs. Slowly but surely we’re making progress with her, but the gang at Camp Bow Wow were amazing with her. They took things slowly with her, kept me informed as to what they were doing and why. At the end of her first day they loved her, and she loved them! She even made some puppy friends! They answered all my questions without making me feel like an idiot or like I’m paranoid.
I really like that they have cameras you can view online so you can check in on your furry pal.
Today was only her second day since her first visit a week ago. Even after a week and only one visit they remembered her by name.
This place is a great way to socialize your dog, under their watchful eye, and get them some exercise. My girl has come home tuckered out each time and is pretty mellow for a day or two.
If you’re hesitant about leaving your dog with strangers, don’t. These guys know their stuff and are fantastic with the dogs.

After a rocky start, Camp Bow Wow has officially won me over.
Having spent several years bringing my two pooches out to a doggy day care in Bedford despite living two minutes away from this one, we decided to make the switch in preparation for a busy summer. Should be easy, right? Just a phone call to book their stay? Wrong.
My first call was met with actual sarcastic laughter from the lady on the phone when I mentioned the dates I wanted my dogs to stay overnight. She followed that with, «it’s going to be at least two weeks before we can get you in for their entrance interview to see if we’ll accept them.»
You know, because it’s okay for a doggy day care to think they’re Harvard.
After that, I had to pass things over to my much more patient spouse for our next attempt which apparently went much better. Since their ‘audition,’ my pups have had several great stays at Camp Bow Wow ranging from daytime drop-​offs to overnight stays in their own personal cabin hooked up with their crate, blankets, and favourite toys from home.
At first I wasn’t sure about them being isolated in the small dog area but after watching a bit of the webcam, it makes a heck of a lot of sense. My mini dachshunds would get trampled by the big guys. And yes — I just said webcam. You can tune in during daytime hours to check in on your pups as they dance around with the other campers and get tons of love from the on-​site staff.
Eventually I’ll shake off the nasty first impression and just accept that this is a great place for pets. But c’mon, they made me work to be one of their customers. I’m more than happy to get them to make it up to me.
