Let me preface this by saying two things: I stumbled upon this company at the Kitchener Farmer’s Market(not his store) and I am lactose-intolerant. As we walked up to the cheese stand, the fellow behind the counter noticed us three girls and immediately came over to talk to us. I asked him what his favourite cheese was and he replied, «you mean today?» Funny guy. He proceeded to pull out a Premier Cru Gruyère to let us sample it… the most amazing stuff. Then he let us try an Emmental. We chatted for a bit then I realized that Mickey McGuire was possibly a real person and not just a store name. I asked him, «are you Mickey McGuire?» «I am.» And let me tell you, he was also the coolest and kindest person I met at that market. We chatted for a few minutes and although only one of us bought a little bit of cheese, he treated us as though we were his regulars. My digestive system does not allow me to consume a lot of dairy. But dammit, I fell in love with a cheese store. This is how you build a legacy, people. WE’REYOURBIGGESTFANS, MICKEY!

The cheese selection is wonderful and the staff are very knowledgeable/helpful. Free samples of anything you want. Nothing else like it in Dundas. I posted a photograph I took from across the street at Starbucks while I was having a coffee. Lots of parking on the street.

I’m so happy Dundas has a dedicated cheese shop. Mickey’s isn’t cheap, but it sells world class cheese in such a friendly environment. The owner is forever telling jokes, and while he’s talking, he’s generally feeding you free samples. This is what retail should be. 5 stars.
