While our handsome little Boston Terrier is well-​behaved for bath time, I’m a little too squeamish about clipping his nails myself. With my luck, I’d likely nick the quick, and walk into the vet’s office looking like I just stepped off a movie set as Slasher Victim #4.
This is the newest location of the quickly expanding Tailwaggrs empire, taking over the former Pizza Jo’s joint. It’s a quaint little store painted a bright pink, so it’s hard to miss. The front store has a little gated entry, to ensure that new dogs coming in don’t accidentally let other dogs out while you wait for the front door to close. The front area is tidy and uncluttered, with one wall dedicated to leashes and harnesses. The other feature Tailwagrrrs’ own crafted pet foods and treats, including Shubie Snacks and Maggie’s Mutt Munchies. A bowl of water is readily available, and a padded bench under the window is handy for pooches looking to people-​watch. There’s also a closed-​off holding room for the puppies to play with each other between services, or while they wait for their owners to pick them up. They also offer doggy day care, and have a larger kennelling facility in a building up the road, for longer-​term stays.
I was nervous about dropping him off to get a bath and nail clipping by a stranger without me around for the first time, but the staff was exceptionally friendly and reassuring. They know what they’re doing, and were very good with handling Murphy. He has separation anxiety, but I think in this case, I was more anxious than he was. We dropped him off, went and did our errands, and by the time we were done, Tailwagrrrs called to let us know he was ready to come home.
After tax, a bath, collar cleaning, and nail clipping comes to around $ 40. The whole scrub down is not something we’ll indulge in often, especially as I said that Murphy doesn’t mind bath time at home. but we’ll be coming back for regular nail clippings. He was happy, his nails were very nicely done, and the $ 17 is worth saving the cost in stain remover.
