Clayworks Studio Link

I had a fantastic afternoon with some fellow archaeologists. A colleague who studies prehistoric Plains pottery gave a fantastic presentation and workshop for us, and the staff at Clayworks were gracious hosts. Our four hours at the studio flew by as we pinched and paddled our gross approximations of prehistoric pots.
I missed out on some of the specific details of their usual business, but it certainly looked as though they offer a bit of everything. I saw a group of women painting pre-​made ceramic vessels and objets d’art, some empty but inviting wheels for throwing, and shelves of beautiful, hand-​formed items waiting to be fired.
Every one of us had a blast, and if I can ever find the time, I’d love to take a class.

I adore this little place! I love being able to peek through to artists at work in the studio behind, but mostly I love the eclectic collection of pottery in the front room, especially the little single mismatched pieces priced perfectly for me!

I live in the states and travel to Edmonton for work. I stumbled upon this studio from a friend I met who works here. Its a magical place that holds classes, paint your own and has an awesome shop that has unique clay pieces. GO HERE, create, and enjoy the art.

I discovered Clayworks Studio Link through a «fieldtrip» when I was working at a childcare centre. They came over and did a workshop with us at the centre, and it went great. The kids and staff (including myself) loved it! The lady from the studio brought over all the supplies, and everyone received their own ceramic tile to paint. She had an array of stencils available for those of us who hadn’t a clue what to do. She was very patient with the kids (we had a large group) and helped them out with their tiles. Afterwards, the tiles were taken back to the studio to be fired up and glazed, and were given to the kids a couple weeks later.
I highly recommend Clayworks for your next party or if you work with kids. They host painting parties, workshops, and various pottery classes at their studio. They also offer school outreach programs and teacher workshops. For drop-​in painting, the price you pay for your piece includes everything from the paint to the glaze, so the number is already calculated for you. It’s a great way to fire up your imagination, and hey, Christmas is coming up soon — why not do something different?
