Spence Diamonds

I had to changed and take off my 1 Star Review for Spence Diamond. Because I thought it was resolved. But the Customer Service by Spence Diamond located next to West Edmonton Mall, in the Strip Mall is really bad. I decided to give 2 Star Review instead. This is my first time shopping and going to Spence Diamond because of a Radio Advertisement. I bought 2 Wedding Bands from Chris on July 1, Canada’s Day. I Paid 100% of the 2 Rings on Credit Card too. I changed my mind on that day, but called the next morning when the opened ASAP. that I changed my mind. I talked to 3 Sales Represent, including Chris. He say it non-​Refundable of $ 110 Charge for Custom Ring. I was really upset, no one told me this yesterday. That it was non-​refundable. I was charged $ 110. He say It on the bottom of the receipt and I sign it. I say I thought I signed to pay for my Credit Card. So I told him I will pay for it the $ 110 the same day. Not happy and upset, no one told me about $ 110 Non-​Refundable.
I went in to pay the $ 110 on July 2, Non-​Refundable Custom Ring. But at least get the rest back. The girl by the name of «Pepper», her real name is Pheap San. Told me I had to pay (2) $ 110 because it (2) Customs Rings. =$ 220. I told 3 People looked at my file on the phone and say it only $ 110. «Pepper» say All (3) People has no idea what their talking about. She talked bad about her co-​workers too. I felt «Pepper» knew who I was before I walked Into Spence Diamond. Did not liked me before for Personal Reason outside of Spence Diamonds Jewellers. I did not know «Pheap San» or goes by the name «Pepper» Made me pay the extra $ 220. I made Chris and the Manager, Joann, talked to me. But even after confronting about «Pepper» and the other 3 Sales Represent, Chris, just walked away not saying anything. In the end, I was lied in person, on the phone. And «Pepper» made my life harder because she did not liked me before I walked into Spence Diamond. She made it sound real, even though 3 Sales Represent say I only had to pay $ 110. Pepper and made me pay $ 220, instead of $ 110. Not By all 3 Sales Represent too. Even when confront Chris in person too.
I was contacted by Joann. The head Manager of Spence Diamond. Got back $ 110 refunded. She did reach out a few times if were still interested in buying Diamonds Rings again. But unfortunately,
When I complaint about «Pepper» Personal Attack and bad talk about her co-​worker. I felt because I was personally attack and uncomfortable going because of bad experience with «Pepper». I could not go to Shop at Spence Diamond. Joann never replied back about my concert either.
I did not want to have another bad experience with «Pepper» again. Scared of her Personal attack. Shop on the days she is working too. I thought since Joann never replied back. I was scared to go back. That they only ask to buy Diamonds, but lack to reply to my Customer Complaint about Pepper. Or tell me about $ 110 Non-​Refundable. Or I had to talked to 3 Sales a Represent, lack time and conflict going there dealing with Pepper, Chris and the Manager of Spence Diamond too. Had to write a Review, deal a few times to get back my originally $ 110, which I should get back. Because no one told me about $ 110, and it is the next day morning too. They did not make the Custom Ring either.

One of the worst experiences ever, bought an engagement ring with my wife, display ring looked great, ordered ring, thought great price, 30 day money back perfect. Ring was done in 28 days picked it up and took it home, did not look like the ring in the display, it looked like it was made by a grade school child, main diamond had no shine at all, three side diamonds were half covered with gold with sloppy lines looked like a rough prototype. Took the ring back the next day and said I would like to return, Salesman right off the bat said sorry its past 30 days without even looking at the bill. I told him it was only 29 days and only 1 day from when I got the ring, he said it starts on the day you order it not get it. I told him yes 29 days so he reluctantly took the ring back and refunded my money. We went to Kingsway garden mall and bought one off the shelf of a jewellery store, higher quality diamond that put the Spence ring to shame and less money as well. Spence is not a Jewellery store they are a marketing company like Dewalt and their crappy tools, the owner thinks he is clever with his screaming on his ads, I wonder if he realizes 80% of people change the radio station when they hear his voice, will never deal with Spence again. If you want to be a serious store stop with the screaming and gimmicks and focus on being grown ups and not a circus sideshow.

Go somewhere else! The manager is rude and a liar. Two faced. Johanna I think. I ordered the ring, once I got it the main diamond was crooked, told me to use it to propose and then bring it back to get it fixed. This guy quit. Brought it back, they told me I couldn’t do it because it was a deal with my salesman. So I upgraded the diamond so it would have to get reset. Picked a new diamond with this new salesman. Waited for it to come in. I go in when it came the second salesman was no longer there either so it was a big mess. The diamond was over twice as much as quoted and acted like it was no big deal. Had to choose another one in budget so waited for that, ok. Sent it away over a month later and after I called multiple times then emailed a nasty letter to the head office in Vancouver. They got back to me right away. The manager claimed she called and left a message. Sorry but my iPhone shows this. Phone record could have too. Ian from Vancouver was the nicest guy, told me if I didn’t love it he’d refund my money (take into account this was almost a year later and against policy and not covered by warranty) Ring comes in it’s still crooked but not as much. The setting has a grind mark almost all they way through the band. Arms holding diamond where uneven. The manager told me pretty much I’m not getting my money back and she couldn’t see any imperfections with it. We argued about it. She was very rude and for being a person who deals with rings for a living and you can’t see this rings imperfections and a normal guy can!!! You need to change professions because you suck at your job. Told Ian waited over a month to get cheque. It only included the original purchase price not the upgraded amount. Waited for the other half for about another month. Last time I was there, there was a woman bringing her ring in missing three diamonds that was only 5 years old they told her there was nothing they could do. She had to pay for new diamonds). I took my refunded money went to People’s and haven’t looked back. Warranty is way better and to be 100% honest nicer ring (Vera wang) same if not better quality for the same price. They are a rip off. I wouldn’t send my enemy there. I have nothing good to say about them. I recommend to go somewhere else.

Myself and some girlfriends recently went to Spence diamonds to have a look around. We were shopping for myself and were very disappointed with our experience.
When I say we were unhappy I don’t mean to come across as though it was a horrible retched place but from the hype they sell in their ads it was a major let down.
When we walked in we were approached by a sales man who was yes, polite, but visually, a complete slob. This person is the face of the company and I felt like I was in a cheap car sales room.
Moving past the staff the entire concept of the store is definitely interesting. It was fun to look and try but a few cases in it becomes very clear that nothing they sell there is special. Every ring is a carbon copy of every other basic white girls Peoples Jewelers type stock.
The lack of rings available in a color other then white gold is next to none. They only offer options to try that are again — cookie cutter and boring.
Upon leaving I called my boyfriend and let him know not to even bother looking for something for me there. I really want to feel like the ring I get has a lot of love in it and the only thing Spence Diamonds sells are rings that pay their staffs salaries.

While the store is really clean and attractive you are much better off looking around for a better price. This place can customize a ring for you but you will pay for it. If you can afford to have a custom ring…
Service is spoty and sometimes they identify you as a browsing customer and will ignore your needs in hopes of making other sales

We looked into Spence a few times, and overall the store is really nice looking, and they let you try on prototype rings so you get the idea of what it looks like. I like that. That’s different. Nice looking store usually means high overhead costs and although Spence claims that their diamonds are cheaper, it’s really not the case, as we found another place that blows them out of the water in terms of quality, service, and price. The little diamond education they had was good but nothing a little internet googling or a brochure couldn’t have done.
Here’s what I don’t like. The sales technique that Spence employs is very pressured and scripted, I just find that it lacks ingenuity and a personal honest touch. Yes they are trying to sell diamonds, but there is a better approach. Yes, the girls are nice, approachable, and know their stuff, but it comes across as too strong and too scripted. Be real be honest, let the buyer breathe and let him choose, let them think on it. Those are my suggestions. Take it or leave it. Otherwise, they have a good selection.

Was very happy with my engagement ring which I wore for 2.5 years. Just got married and the matching wedding ring has different metal content which I am allergic to. They say they are both 19k gold so they won’t do anything for me. Obviously there is something different about the wedding band and they are refusing to admit it. Google reviews tell me that other have had the same problem. They obviously skimp on the wedding bands after you have bought the engagement ring.
Shame on them, and poor customer service. They won’t let me talk to anyone except the front desk manager, Evalina, who obviously doesn’t understand the problem and who keep recommending that we send it for tests to see if there is a difference between the engagement ring and the wedding band. I KNOW there is a difference because I am allergic to one and not the other. I just want them to pay the $ 45 for plating, or to admit there is something wrong, or to give me a refund for a ring which has been worn for one week.
I may also add that we were pressured to by the wedding ring right away «before the price of gold went up»…

Spence is a fun place to go if you want to go try on rings and get an idea of what style and size you like. I did this with my now fiancée twice, as it’s really difficult to decide what you like on your hand when looking at pictures. Unfortunately, as another reviewer stated, most of the styles here are so out of date and strange that most of the fun I had was picking out the ugly rings and laughing at them. And believe me, there are a lot to laugh at.
I decided before we went to Spence that I wanted a cushion cut diamond, but because none of their sample rings were in a cushion cut, I found the little tray with multiple cuts and carat weights on simple bands the most helpful, as I was able to see how each carat size looks in different cuts. This is one benefit to going to Spence, as most jewelers don’t carry this kind of stock regularly. Also, because a cushion cut is a special order, their regular return policy doesn’t apply if you need to return the ring for any reason.
Our second time at Spence, we got the «diamond education», which would have been helpful, but my fiancée had been researching diamonds for quite some time. We told the saleswoman this, and we would have appreciated a briefer version, but I guess that they are probably required to do this for all potential customers. We asked to see a diamond in the carat size I thought I was looking for, and they brought a loose diamond. Nice to know they have diamonds in stock, but completely unhelpful without a setting to look at it on my hand. I also felt a little bit like I was at a car dealership and being pressured for a sale. It was enough that I felt a little uncomfortable walking away without any intent to purchase.
I found the diamonds at Spence to be overpriced, and after looking around at other options for engagement rings, I’m astonished that Spence sells themselves on having great value. In comparison to other rings, a number of the settings at Spence are bulky and lacking in the elegance that a great diamond deserves. Take the diamond education and apply it elsewhere.

The open display cases are great. You can reach in and try on anything you want. However, they claim to have every engagement ring every designed. That’s total BS. I went there expecting to find dozens of rings I liked, and I found two. So many of the rings designs are outdated, gaudy or so close to the same that they may as well not even be there.
Also, for a store that claims to be fun and no pressure, I had at least three associates harassing me. Did I have any questions? Do I need more water? Did I have a style in mind? Am I still doing all right (x10)? It really didn’t feel like no pressure. Eventually, I found a style that I liked, and all I wanted was the style number written down. I didn’t need a «diamond education», and I said as much. I just wanted a number on a card that I could take home. However, I was shoved into a little office and made to look down a microscope at different grades of diamond. I didn’t learn anything that I didn’t already know, and it was a complete waste of my time.
A few final notes, none of the prices at Spence were any lower than anywhere else, unless you’re looking at handcrafted designer engagement rings from the likes of Tacori or Simon G. In fact, some of the prices were higher. By all means, take a look, but they’re really not any better than any other store, and worse than others. The selection is sub par, and the service is just as pushy as anywhere else. I wouldn’t go back.
