Mama’s Italian Cafe

I used to love this place but unfortunately since Momma and her hubbie moved back to Italy to take care of her mom the quality has gone down hill. The last two times I have been there the food tastes like there is no love in it. No flavor. Stale bread. Momma would be so upset if she new what had happened to her cute little restaurant. I don’t think I will try a 3^rd time :(

Expect to lineup right as you get in the door. There are maybe 11 seats inside the joint and maybe half a dozen outside. There is a spry older fellow who skips around when working and loves what he does when cooking or making the sandwiches or lunches. Then there’s Mama and she is a busy lady that appreciates serving great quality food and cares about what she puts out there. I ordered the soup of the day which is curry chicken cauliflower soup and the special home made lasagna which is freshly made everyday. The soup is hearty and stick to your bones good food. It comes with a slice of home made buttered brown bread. For as long as you are waiting to order, expect to wait longer for the food because it’s just the two of them working in the place. Mind you, the food is worth the wait. It is really hot today but I scored this corner seat and its right in front of the air conditioner!!! Yay! There is this feeling of home here like your favorite Auntie is feeding you and making sure you are getting enough to eat. If I was mindful of my figure, I’d stop with the soup and that would’ve been enough. NO WAY! Ok my lasagna has arrived! Oh and so with the wait. It’s accompanied with this spinach, tomatoes, olives red onions walnuts and feta cheese salad. It is sitting in this delicious olive oil dressing Beautiful. The lasagna is full of warm, flavour and so inviting. The noodles are perfect and the meat sauce seasoned so beautifully. Tasty piece of heaven and the portion is generous. I’m so happy that I waited. Btw, all prices listed on the chalkboard in the place include the taxes.
Parking is at a premium on the street. Find a spot! The old fellow said they just ran out of bread!!! You know a place has great food when you see the dishes after people eating on them are clean because nothing was left behind! Oh did I mention they are Italian and I’m talking old school Italian. They are conversing with each other in the back constantly in Italian. I love it. Graci signore y signora. I’ll be back.

Best Meatball Sandwich I have EVER had. which may not mean that much since I don’t eat them often haha.
But that’s also means I went for it because she makes the meatballs from her moms old recipe, they’re tender, juicy, flavourful, stacked on homemade bread and extremely well priced.
Expect sweet Ducati ads and other weird shit all over the walls, it to be busy at all hours and very friendly service! Best taken to go unless you find yourself on one of three outdoor tables on a sunny day.

This is another «go to» as I work in the area. Definitely not on the diet pasta! I order the cheese canaloni, it comes with salad and a slice of home made bread for $ 9.95.
It is absolutely delicious!!! I am so stuffed from this pasta (is this why it is called stuffed pasta?) that I can not eat a proper dinner that night. I always start out eating just ½ and saving the rest for the next day’s lunch, but that NEVER happens.
It does not have a great atmosphere but the owners are super friendly, the food is quality and service is good (sometimes a little slow), but worth it.

Food for the soul. Love this place! Run by the nicest people who can cook!!! Spinach & Ricotta Cannelloni is AMAZING, also the baked goods, blueberry cream cheese muffins … Drool… Anyways, very good food, not so good for my waistline!

I got the sausage special. It was to die for. The sausage was so flavorful without a hint of grease. My friends food also tasted great. Lost a star because i had to wait for so long since they are a small café.

Hole in the wall with best staff and Italian deli. Home made bread, muffins, cookies, sausages, soups etc.
Can’t ask for anything better! They’re all about the food not image. If you’re looking for a fancy café, this is not it. If you’re looking for good homemade stuff, you’re at the right spot!
