Yellow Dog Brewing

Yellow Dog Brewing is my favorite brewery in Port Moody. Located across from Rocky Point Park, it’s a fantastic place to enjoy a pint.
Yellow Dog Brewing offers a great variety of beers, ensuring that everyone will find something they like. My absolute favorite is the Sit and Stay ISBA. I also like their Chase My Tail Pale Ale, and their Play Dead IPA. The brewers also make a lot of limited release batches, so there is always something new to try.
In terms of beer servings, you can get a tasting flight of 4 beers for $ 5. The tasting flight comes in this adorable bone shaped paddle. You can also get a glass of beer for $ 5, or a growler fill for $ 12 – 13.50 (depending on which beer you choose). There’s also a few fridges on the left side containing a bunch of cans and bottles of beer available for purchase. The bottles range in price from $ 4 (1 L) or $ 6 (1.89 L).
If you’re hosting a party, you can also rent a keg. My husband and I rented a 50 L keg of the Sit and Stay ISBA for an open house, and for $ 300 ($ 200 for the keg + $ 100 refundable deposit) we got all of the equipment we needed. There was also no rush to return the keg, which was appreciated. We only had to request the keg a few weeks in advance.
There are a few sitting areas to enjoy your beer at the brewery. There are a few tables next to the counter, a few tables by the brewery entrance, and (my favorite) a huge outdoor sitting area in the back of the brewery. The sitting area is full of huge picnic tables and faces the train tracks. You can enjoy the sitting area at all times of the year, since the brewery has umbrellas, blankets, and heat lamps available.
Overall, I really like Yellow Dog Brewery. If you are in Port Moody, you should check it out!

Cool brewery in Port Moody. We really enjoyed the beer tasting flights we tried! Loved chillin on the spacious outdoor patio, complete with live beer hop vines and umbrellas on the picnic benches. Cute dog themed everything here at yellow dog but dogs are not allowed? Hmm.
The inside area had just a few tables and is pretty small, it is a working warehouse –brewery. This place has a cool vibe and pretty solid beers! Tip: Park and walk to other brewery’s nearby, weekends find a food truck parked nearby too.

Fresh is best. And Yellow Dog contributed to this revelation. They are new to the area and I think they are one of the better smaller breweries in the LMD. They have their solid stand-​by brews that are winning awards. But they also are willing to try something different. Sours is one of their latest.
The vibe is low key. Industrial area with an attempt to capture that «have a beer at your buddies place feel «(his garage or back yard that is). They have gotten better at serving quick in their busy times. So don’t be scared off by the line up. Dogs can hang out front. But health rules don’t allow for entering the brewery.
A great after hike or workout location for the Moody area.

I love this place. From the industrial feel of the tasting room to the relaxing atmosphere of the outdoor beer garden. And of coarse the beer. They make great beer here. My only criticism is the staff or one staff member in particular. Every time I go into this place and I’m enjoying some great conversation and a beer with friends I get an attitude from a certain female member of the staff. I don’t feel like I have been singled out because others have expressed having a similar experience. That is the only thing that would prevent me from recommending going to the tasting room at Yellow Dog to a friend.

The outdoor seating space full of picnic tables and adirondack chairs is magical. Beer garden bliss if you will. There are always dogs back there doing a bit of chillin’ and illin’ too. This place is also right along the railroad tracks which adds a little je né sais quoi, AMIRITE?
The beer is very tasty, the inside has a great industrial vibe, you can get beer to go, and they have a lot of swag if you’re into that. The names are adorably dog related and the beer bats are in the shape of bones. SHUT UP IT’S SO CUTE I DIE.
But damn. The service both times has been teetering on the side of dickish. I was in a good mood so I dicked back, but sweet jesus. I am here to buy your beer, if that displeases you, maybe you shouldn’t go to work. Or out in public ever. It just makes me wonder how fixie bicycles make it all the way out to Port Moody. MYSTERIES!

Great place to go with a large back patio and excellent beer all the time. The staff is super friendly and you can bring in your own food.
Would definitely recommend.

Five stars because it’s in Port Moody. As secret of a place as it gets. Shouldn’t there be a secret handshake and signals for special off-​menu beers? Where’s the bouncer?
Great beer. Interesting selection. Very affordable. I love the atmosphere, the ambiance. Probably by #1 fav hangout in the area.

It’s very different from the Main Street/​Commercial Drive breweries in Vancouver.
It has less of a hipster feel and more of a family/​pet-​friendly vibe. I saw kids, families, and dogs!
It goes without saying their beers are good. So good that you’ll be thinking about it couple hours later.
Try their smoked porter — it won BC beer of the year in 2014.

Quite enjoyed this place, to the point that we went back two days in a row.
The service was friendly (albeit a little slow), beers, flights and fills were very reasonably priced and the place itself was very welcoming and comfortable.
$ 5 for a flight of 4 tasters and everything tried was enjoyed. They had just run out of the raspberry ale which was disappointing, but hopefully I’ll have a chance to come back and try it again.
They have a great backyard patio with picnic tables that is dog & kid friendly, a food truck parked outside on weekends, and comfy warm blankets if it gets chilly.
Yellow Dog is the perfect place to end a day of hiking or playing at Rocky Point. Worth checking out.

Good beer selection. There’s nothing quite like a fresh beer but I can do without the attitude.
I get it, we can on a Saturday and it was probably busy all day considering its right by a big park on the water. But when my friend asked for 3 flights the counter girl said, «ugh, you bitch.» She later apologized while my friend was paying and said its her humour but, if we are not people who know you, we don’t get your type of humour and just think you’re being rude. Another older guy working there seemed like everyone coming in was the bane of his existence.
Moral of the story, beer good, people bad.

A dog-​friendly tasting room. Don’t see that everyday.
Parking is available directly in front, as well as along Murray. A short walk may be required if the place gets full.
The place is definitely cozy, with a few tables and an extra room on the side. I was told there’s also a dog friendly park behind the building somewhere.
The beers are overall quite good here. Besides the cute dog-​themed names, the beers I tried each had a distinct personality. I especially liked the cask pale ale. They don’t even charge extra for this. Bonus. Pricing is a bit more than the competition for growlers ($ 12+), but you do get what you pay for.
My one complaint (if it counts as one) is that the place is too popular. So much so that that some of us had to use the brewing equipment as a table. A few more tables would’ve been nice.
I would definitely be back at some point. Recommended.

Love the dog friendly atmosphere, especially the picnic/​drinking area in the back where many customers can sit with their dogs while having a beer. Places to relax for a bit with the pooch while sipping a beverage are hard to find so this is much appreciated.

I noticed Yellow Dog a few weeks ago driving by Rocky Point Park. They are located across the street from my favourite ice cream place, Rocky Point Ice Cream. By the way they just came out with a Yogurt Lemon cookie ice cream and it is amazing. Go try it! And no, I am not paid to say it, I just love them :)
Back to Yellow Dog. So finally after talking about it for weeks, my husband and I walked down to Yellow Dog to try it out this weekend. The experience did not disappoint.
It is situated in an industrial area of Port Moody, surrounded by car shops, train tracks, drainage companies and etc. But don’t be fooled, Yellow Dog has done an amazing job transforming their industrial space into something fun and inviting. When you first walk in, you are greeted with the wonderful aroma of beer. And the stores itself is clean and casual. Dogs are of course welcomed. They even have doggy treats for dogs (made from spent grain and etc from brewing). The staff here are also welcoming and super helpful.
A pint is $ 5 (taxes included), so is a tasting flight. We opted for the tasting flight and it came with 4 beers to try. We decided to hang out in their back patio instead of sitting in one of the many tables inside. I would have to say… I am quite surprised by how nice their patio was. Dog friendly, and set up with nice picnic tables and chairs, we could have easily stayed there for an hour.
They are also pretty nice about letting you bring in outside food and drinks (at least for now). If you are with someone who is not a beer drinker as long as you purchase something from the tap, they don’t mind if the other person brings in a pop or juice with them. And of course, there is is a water bowl for your four legged friend as well, so they can lap up some water while you sip on some brew.
My favourite was the Play Dead IPA (yes, most of their beers are dog themed. super adorable!). Light, hoppy and refreshing on a summer day. So if you like that, you’ll like the IPA from Yellow Dog. My husband’s favourite was the German Altbier, which had packs a stronger and bitter bunch. Perfect for what it is.
So if you are around Port Moody, check out Yellow Dog and bring a friend, two legged or four, all are welcomed. If you are not into beer, you can always walk across the street for some ice cream ;).

I have to say that I’m pretty excited to FINALLY have a microbrewery in my ‘hood!
This facility is right across the street from Rocky Point Park and on pretty much any commute to/​from my house, so it’s an easy place to stop for a growler fill on my way home/​out for the evening. The owners are SO nice and the few beers they’re producing so far have been getting better and better as they progress in their brewing. Also, they’ve put a lot of thought into their brand, with all the beers having fun dog-​themed names and even offering tasting flights in fun bone shaped holders.
There is a cute backyard area with some comfy chairs and picnic tables where you can enjoy a beverage on a sunny day (and even bring your own snacks, if you feel like it) and the inside area has a cool/​industrial vibe. Currently they have three beers on tap (an IPA, a Pale Ale and a Wit that’s perfect for warm summer days) and we’ve gotten to enjoy a few casks at local establishments as well. Their brewer is formerly from Parallel 49 and he certainly knows his stuff.
Highly recommended and how can you not want to support a cool new local small business?!?

Great stuff! Very well crafted brews, well worth the 15 minute wait for a growler fill on a Saturday afternoon. The value is good and the seating areas are funky. Pet and kid friendly. What’s not to like? A great addition to the area.

A small family owned brewery in Port Moody.
It’s not like your Main Street type place… It’s an open warehouse and seating for the tasting area is either in front of the serving bar or *** in their beer garden, out back!!! ***
Bonus points for the outdoor seating!!!
Good beers, very well priced. You can openly see their tanks as you walk past them to get to the back garden.
Extra bonus points: I didn’t see a single bearded hipster or hipster wannabe.
Have to admit tho, the tasting area is not as ‘interior designed’ as the Main St places.
Why only 3 stars? Had to get the gentleman a attention to serve me a the bar even though it was plainly obvious we just walked in + tasting room was not as trendy as some other breweries.
