GONZO! too bad, it was one of the few non-asian, non-franchise, nice & comffy places in the morning that is open… and able to work peacefully too, off the busy track in Rmd. But that’s probably why, too secluded in a residential area, corner mini plaza.

Well, after growing up a short walk from The Well back when it was a little corner store, I have seen a lot of turnaround go through that little stripmall. When someone opened up a little pub i thought to myself ‘great, something might actually stick here if it’s decent’ mainly because most of the food you get around Richmond is terrible these days… I would go occasionally with the folks and we’d always do a bunch of appetizers because they do those really well, and I love the honey lemon wings. The burgers are okay, nothing to write home about, and the service started off really well. We went two weekends ago after an afternoon of golf and, to be quite honest, there is nothing quite as upsetting in a restaurant’s service as when you have to holler and wave your arms for the hostess ANDYOUARETHEONLYSEATEDTABLEINTHEJOINT! There were four of us at one table, and no one else. We had to yell/wave once because the two staff chicks at the bar never looked up from their conversation in over 20 minutes, and once because the one who was at the bar when we wanted our bill kept staring at the computer in front of her. The coffeeshop had closed next door due to Burnett High starting a cafeteria so the students didn’t have a coffeeshop need anymore, so the dessert options for The Well had died down to a handfull of things from costco… we ended up going to DQ for milkshakes instead. To be honest, as great as the food is, with that type of service how do they expect to stay in business with that out of the way location? The owner needs to take a serious look at the serving staff… I know it’s slow but when you have customers there is no good reason to be forcing them to holler at you for service. Quite frankly that’s rude and I could do better. So sad for so much potential wasted on bad choices of staff…

The Suburban Well Sports Bar totally bucks the trend in Richmond! What trend? Well, frankly, it’s hard to find even the remotest quality of customer service and warmth in the city of Richmond. It has been a very rare thing or me to feel welcomed and appreciated in any of the hundreds of businesses I have dealt with having worked in the city for five years. In all that time, this fact is very clear: Respectable customer relations, and arguably the customer itself is not a Richmond, BC value… The Suburban Well does though and they show it with great customer incentives($ 5/lb wings till september) and stellar service from everyone including the owner, Andrew, who was so approachable that my pal and I chatted him up in the parking lot for ten minutes our first time meeting him. They want to hear from us? Seriously?! You know we’re just the customer right? Yes they do! One thing is for sure, it must be hard to start a Sports Pub in Richmond. These folks get it and work hard to earn repeat business. The food matches their enthusiasm. GREAT wings, even great SOUPS!

A quaint little place! Came for the Friday comedy night and totally enjoyed ourselves. The staff are awesome, especially Renee. The food was different, and done to our liking and the whole place had a great time with the comedians. Totally recommend it has a nice simple date night or night out. The only complaint I can say is that the menu could be a bit more substantial but everything we had was awesome and priced well… I’d go back…

Came here thanks to Vincci’s review. Had no idea this plaza even existed until today! Nobody ever thinks of coming here. Parking is plentiful in the private lot in front. The interior is British themed, with war memorabilia and propaganda higher up on the walls, yet the lower exhibits are all sports helmets and jerseys. It was a bit of an odd theme. With that said, the interior is VERY clean(the bathrooms are pretty decent). Today(Saturday) Budweiser was on special. $ 12 for 3 bottles, $ 5 for a pint, and $ 10.60 pitchers. Not bad, especially the pitcher deal. The waitress explained that pitchers here drop 40c every time the Canucks win. They won today, so by the end of the night the pitchers were $ 10.20. You can see where this goes as the playoffs approach. You can thank me later. They had a 50⁄50 draw tonight as well, as well as some random yelling by drunken patrons. It was entertaining to watch, but thankfully nothing violent happened. Yet another place to grab cheap booze, with hopefully not too much of a crowd. Sweet.

Wow. If every pub was like this place, I’d be going to pubs more often. It’s located in an area where you’d least expect a place like this. Inside, it’s actually quite nice. Large comfy lounge chairs, high tops, or your regular tables. One thing I couldn’t help but notice, there are a lot of screens for you to watch your favourite sport. Hockey memorabilia line the walls, and just an overall cozy atmosphere. Wings are on special Tuesdays and Thursdays for $ 5 a pound. Although the food took a while to come, it was worth the wait. I got an order of the honey garlic wings and an order of the salt and pepper wings. Dare I say that these are as good as the Flying Beaver ones?! Large in size, perfectly crispy, and soo yummy! Drink special for the night was 3 bottles of Corona for $ 12. Would like to see more drink specials, perhaps for some beer on tap? Super friendly service, our server even joked with us throughout the dinner, and apologized when they switched the TV station to air Jersey Shore. Will definitely return.
