Prospect Lake Golf Course is Victoria’s fun & unique 9 hole golf course situated at the southern shore of Prospect Lake. Test all of your golf clubs on narrow fairways, over natural obstacles, and on challenging greens. Enjoy a beverage after the round on our large patio overlooking the lake and our signature hole. Beginners welcome and rentals available.

Historique

Fondé en 1964.

Andrew and Dot McGregor purchased a piece of land in 1922 overlooking the southern portion of Prospect Lake in rural Saanich, just outside of Victoria. They decided to convert their farmland in to a 9-​hole golf course in 1959 and Gregarah Golf Club first opened for business in April 1964. At that time green fees were just $ 1!

The McGregors sold the golf course to another family, Cedric and Dorene Steele, in 1974. The farm house was converted in to the existing clubhouse in 1976, and the golf course changed its name to Prospect Lake Golf Course in 1977.

Cedric and Dorene’s son Shawn starting working on the grounds crew in 1994 and, after obtaining a Golf Club Management diploma, started managing the golf course in 1999 and continues to manage the golf course today.

Manager

Shawn has been the General Manager at Prospect Lake Golf Course for the past 15 years. Shawn is passionate about assisting the non-​profit sector and often hosts charity fundraising golf events at the golf course. Shawn holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Golf Club Management diploma. Shawn is the Chair of two charity Boards, and volunteers as a facilitator and consultant to many other local non-​profit organizations.
