Meh. My dish was good(Cajun chicken) but my aunt’s ribs tasted like mustard. And her veggies tasted like they were soaked in vinegar. It was weird. I tried them both. Not sure what happened there? My dessert was kind weird too. It tasted greasy… the chocolate brownie Sundae

My boyfriend and I celebrated our 5th anniversary here, first time at this restaurant and it didn’t dissapoint, service was excellent, food was superb! we started with the calamari and then my boyfriend had the primerib cooked to perfection, I had the special which was Steak Oscar, it had a delicious sauce with a big serving of it, we both picked the mashed potatoes, they were so creamy and each dish had a corn, carrot, broccoli and cauliflower, portions were huge! The meal started off with some sourdough bread as well, you will leave full and happy! Looking forward to coming back

Really more of a 3.5 star restaurant, but I’m an optimist and like to round up. Some Unilocalers and I came here after the Fit Club event because the restaurant we wanted to go to was closed for the day. We were here later(probably 730ish) and the place was pretty quiet. We ordered some drinks. Two of the four got beer, the other two split a bottle of wine. They don’t have a huge wine list, but they have a few reds and whites, a small selection of domestic and foreign beers, and some standard cocktails. We ordered food, got the peppercorn fries to share. I had a few bites and they were pretty good. The gravy was rich and peppercorns added a nice bite. There is grated cheese on the dish, but it’s not poutine because they’re not cheese curds. I really appreciate the fact Blue Rare didn’t try to falsely advertise this dish as poutine. I got the blackened chicken. It’s a cajun spiced grilled chicken breast topped with a fruit salsa. The chicken was nice, a little spice but not unbearable and pretty moist(even with the blackened part it certainly wasn’t burnt). The fruit salsa was good but there was hardly any on the chicken, it amounted to a few diced pineapple pieces on top. More salsa, even a small dish would have been nice. It comes with cooked veggies, which were the most random veggies, a cooked carrot, piece of grilled corn, one piece of steam broccoli and cauliflower. Food was all right. Service was friendly but a little slow. I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here again, but it was ok.

We popped in here on a Monday night because our original destination was closed. The place was barren… not a table in there had people at it other than ours. It wasn’t terribly late, maybe 8PM. We were told that they were out of tuna, and running low on mashed potatoes. Honestly we were looking forward to a nice glass of wine more than anything, so the wine list was pretty disappointing. We went with an Argentinian Malbec, which is a safe bet. Reliable but not anything special. For food, we nibbled on some peppercorn cheese fries, that weren’t too bad. The price for the size of the order, though, left something to be desired! $ 7 for a small handful of fries and fifty cents worth of sauce. My main was a Goat Cheese Chicken Salad, and I subbed the menu dressing for a lime shallot vinaigrette. It was fresh, and the chicken wasn’t horribly overcooked. The strawberries and blueberries were mostly fresh(I did run into a couple of blueberries that had seen better days, but not many, honestly). There were three balls of goat cheese on the top of the salad that lasted the entire salad(nothing worse than running out half way through your meal!). There were also almond slivers over the salad. All in all, this wasn’t bad. Service was on top of things(but with only one table to work with, I would be very disappointed if they weren’t!) Most of the menu was very overpriced for what it seemed you were getting. Honestly I’m not too surprised they were empty. Pair that with the wine list? There wasn’t a bottle on the list that you would pair with a $ 40 steak. Overall, underwhelming. There are better options in town.

Well this place is meh… It was super dead — even for a Monday! We had a fabulous server, but that doesn’t make up for a sub-par wine list that is paired with a very expensive food menu. Seriously, if i’m having a $ 40 fish or steak dinner, it would be nice to have a decent bottle of wine with it… and none, NONE of the wines by the bottle were more than $ 20 retail. I had the peppercorn fries; which were not bad — kind of like a steakhouse poutine. The real, whole, peppercorns made for a spicy surprise when you bit into one(or 4) of them in one bite. Then I had the less than sub-par chicken sandwich. It wasn’t bad… it just wasn’t good, at all. Not much flavour. Just, not much of anything. Oh, and the soup on the side — horrible! My best synopsis of this place is that it is like an airport restaurant. The food won’t kill you, but it’s going to be over priced, and really not taste all that great. But, it will fill you up until you get somewhere better.

I hit Blue Rare this past Friday night to meet my friends for drinks. I didn’t eat so I can’t comment on the food as of yet, but my friends raved about their steaks and I enjoyed the atmosphere and my drinks so much that I will definitely be returning in the near future to dine.

Its Sunday night in St Albert and there are a few restaurants open down town. Stop in here a 6. Place is completely deserted. Not one customer and not a soul in sight. Waited to be seated but no one showed up. Left. Other posts say it is under the same ownership as when it was Ricks grill so I am not surprised the service is still terrible. Didn’t know that when we stopped or I wouldn’t have dropped in to start with. Only time I was at Ric’s the review I wrote flamed it pretty hard but fully earned.

Food was very good and price was right. I don’t know why but the restaurant was empty on a Friday night a 7??? That probably explain why the service was excellent. Only negative point was that we ordered a couple items from the menu and the kitchen didn’t have it. but overall it was a good experience.
