Tommy Gun’s Original Barbershop

Wait times are so much better than they used to be! Or, at least, I’m seeing way more stylists out at once. Best place to get a haircut in Sherwood Park.

There is always a wait and you usually end up with a different hairstylist. Went twice, wasn’t overly impressed with the haircut for the money.

I have been to this barbershop three times now, two haircuts and today a shave. Well I’ll tell you in the words of Don, this is something every man should experience at least once, no scratch that, every time. I’m sure not every stylist is as focused as others. But I had Rachelle (prob spelled wrong) and she made me feel like I was the most important client that she had all month. I’ll definitely be back. Oh and the wait thing, maybe I just hit it right, but wait time was maybe 20 min max today, but usually has only been like 5 – 8 min.

After the second attempt to get my haircut here I think it is time to start going somewhere else. Whenever I go there they have a dozen chairs but only two or three girls cutting hair. It’s a minimum hour wait. And today it was 3pm and they said they weren’t taking any new clients even though they are open till six. WTF! Don’t waste your time with this place. For the price you pay you get a substandard haircut.

I got my haircut at tommy guns recently and I was very happy with the results. A little tip for this place is after you check in, don’t leave and let them text you because it’s always faster to wait in the store. The machine for checkin said it would be 1.5 hour wait, but I grabbed a chair within 10 minutes by waiting.
The reason this is 3 stars instead of 4 or 5 is that while I was getting my hair cut I had to slouch really really low. You see, my hairdresser was about 5′ even and didn’t have a stool, so she could see the top of my head (I’m not even that tall at 5’10″).
I have never experienced anything like this before and know it won’t happen to everyone, but it really threw me off.
Overall a good experience, but doubt I would be back.

My wife decided I should do something with my hair, that in itself is hard to believe as I am pretty much bald. She actually wanted me to try the straight razor shave they do here, friends of hers had mentioned it was great so she picked me up a gift card for Christmas.
I was looking forward to it, but was I hyping it up too much and would I be let down once I arrived? I phoned to book an appointment one day and that was a serious let down to me. I was told they don’t take appointments and that made me fear this was just another chain barber shop that would give you an overpriced cut and send you packing.
I still wanted to use the gift card so I walked in one day when I knew I had a few free hours to spare. The place was done up very nicely and the waiting lounge was very comfortable. You sign into what I could only assume is an iPad on steroids and they call you when they are ready.
Five minutes after I set foot in the door I was called upon to join a lovely young lady the back… don’t read too much into it, the back is just behind the counter and there was no funny business about to take place.
What I saw was a great layout of multiple old school barber chairs, I aboslutely love theses things, they are more comfortable than most current recliners. I made myself comfortable and then she went about trimmiming my lack of hair… I wish I could figure out why it grows so well in some areas and not in others… but I digress.
Then came the shave, this is what I was excited for. She explained everything to me as we worked our way through the process, and it was a process. They don’t just slap some foam on and scrape it off with a swiss army knife, they instead prepare your skin and take it through several diferent processes, all the while making you feel like you may have died and fallen into the hands of an angel. This was probly the best I have ever felt with my pants still on. Needless to say I was not dissapointed at all in the end. My face felt as smooth as a babies bottom, not that I compared.
If you want to treat a man to a special experience I highly recomend this, or if you’re a man that wants to feel like you are the center of the universe, even if only for an hour I recomend you find Tommy Gun’s and see for yourself!
