Finch GO Bus Terminal

I’m not really sure why this is labelled, «Finch GO Bus Terminal» where it also serves as the central location for YRT (York Region Transit), Viva and Brampton.
It would be nice for the YRT to provide brochure routes especially the express buses. Prices are noted for Viva (same price) but not explicitly displayed for YRT Express buses. People with Presto cards would notice the additional charge but for newbies they are often surprised by the additional 50-​cent charge requested by the bus drivers. It’s inefficient for the newbie and the people in line because the newbie has to scramble through his/​hers wallet for change.
Staff are most active during rush hour which is greatly appreciated but after, they are non-​existent. It can very difficult for newbies to seek customer service or inquiry when there is no one around to ask.
There are multiple platforms for drivers to drop off and pick up (designated) so that is good. It’s not as crazy as Union’s Gobus platforms. There are signs that show the map and schedule of the routes. Note, it does not state the price to take the YRTs. Implementation of Presto cards on YRT buses has been successful and more convenient than using the paper tickets or change.
I hope TTC will learn to prioritize and implement the Presto among all subway stations, streetcars and buses. Only a few subway stations (e.g. Finch, Dundas and Union) accepts Presto but at limited entry locations.
One good thing to note is the cleanliness of the area. The washroom however is not spacious and I often walk across to the Xerox building to use their washrooms instead (time permitted).

Well, in terms of platform assignments and such it’s not too bad. They schedule the busiest routes closest to the indoor waiting area which is good.
However, the terminal itself is small considering the traffic it gets during peak periods. During the height of rush (between 5:15 to 5:45ish), it might take about 5 – 10 minutes just to exit the terminal due to the high traffic along Yonge or Bishop. The good thing, however, is that there’s a diamond lane on Yonge which restricts traffic to mainly buses, taxis, or cars with 3+ people.
There’s also a hot dog stand (their hot dogs are quite decent by the way), a taxi stand, Gateway Newstands, and a bunch of flying rats feeding off bread cumbs from people walking by.

Is it weird that I’m reviewing the Go Bus Terminal… just so I can review the patties they sell at the newstand?
They’re phenom. They’re unlike the standard ones, these have a thicker crust and they usually warm em up till you burn your mouth.
Asides from Jamaican stores that do the for real real stuff, it’s my fav patty in the city.
