Sephora

My previous review i wrote was 5 stars but I’ve changed that based on my last couple of visits — I thought maybe it was just one bad employee but now I’ve been in a few more times and still hasn’t been great. My mom wanted something for under eye and she was shown a few things but nothing tried on her skin so she bought a roller and it ended up burning under her eyes, returning it would be simple if she didn’t live in gravenhurst. Every time I’ve gone in its chaos, the square one is exactly the same and they aren’t under Reno like sherway… it’s nearly impossible to get help. You have to catch someone and i mean quite literally run and follow someone to ask them for help. I needed a brow stencil and a eye brow razor and I was told to wait they would ask and then never returned and just basically ignored.
I used to love shopping here and there have been a few times were the people working have been so nice and helpful but there’s also some girls working that really don’t care.
Anyways I finally got my stencil on the second visit (out of stock first time) noone helped try it on or tell me how they work. i get home to realize there’s only 4 out of 5 stencils in the package. I called to tell them and that I could return the Friday (2 days later) and the girl didn’t sound pleased I’m assuming by the sound of the phone slamming down in my ear
Hopefully sephora experiences get a bit better because I really used to love going in

I don’t usually write reviews but feel I had to for this location. If I could it 0 starts, I would! Today, I became a ghost as soon as I walked into the store. The person who was standing in front of the store pretended to be busy when I made eye-​contact– not a smile, no hello, no acknowledgement. I started to walk around and 15minutes past, my existence was still not acknowledged. The person whom I asked for help looked away, and the cashier did not know how to say thank you. FYI, they were not busy nor understaffed. I got a much better customer service at Yorkdale and Eaton Centre location and they are pretty busy. Please spare yourself HORRIBLE customer service and do not shop here.

The worst customer service I’ve ever come across, the lack of interest was astonishing. I asked one person who works there if I could get some help and she didn’t even look at me before she took to the mic to ask for someone to help. Funny part is there were 3 employees just standing there while the person I asked to help me just walked away.
Never going back in, rather go Yorkdale Mall and drive for 20 – 30 min.

I’ve been to several Sephora locations throughout the city and in other countries. Let me just say that not all Sephora’s are the same. The beauty items offered in Paris may be different than the products offered at the Pacific Mall location in Vancouver. That being said, their customer service varies in quality as well.
When you walk into a Sephora, you’re typically greeting and usually offered a small basket to hold your impending goodies. If you find items you like you can try them on without anyone pestering you and if you find a good customer service location they will let you be and occasionally check in on you to see if you need assistance.
They offer professional makeup services and lessons as well as a pro eyebrow bar from Benefits. These appointments are best made in advance because when it’s busy they need all hands on deck.
What’s great about Sephora is that they offer samples on pretty much anything in he store! There are no limits to the amount do samples you want and you don’t have to purchase anything in order to ask for a sample. I like this location at Sherway Gardens Mall as opposed to the Yorkdale location. The customer service is much better and it isn’t as crazy!

I was here a couple of weeks ago. It was a weekday evening, and they were surprisingly busy. But it’s a good time to get some help from staff. There was a women getting make up done. I was also able to get some help with colour-​printing (where they help you choose the right foundation). The girl who was helping me also did a make up application, and sent me home with samples so I could try it out and see what I thought before buying. I like Sephora but going on the weekends can be messy. Anyone who wants real help, should go during the week.
The staff are totally helpful and not pushy at all… this is what retail should be!

Went with my girl, it’s a female makeup store… so here is a take from a guys point of view. The shop was good and they had a lot of quality brands. The service was great as there was lady in every section and they were willing to help her. The good thing was that you don’t have to buy the product at first if you are unsure that it would suit you or not. They provide product samples come back and buy it if it suits your skin.

This is my go to Sephora everytime because although the chain itself boasts great service in general I find this location to be the best of the best!
The selection here is fairly large but not too large, I found many of the Sephora’s I went to had more hair and skin care products then makeup it seemed but this one has a good balance of both and seems to keep the brands and layout consistant so I am not left wandering the isles trying to find this particular product.
Above anything else though I would have to say the staff is what keeps me coming back to this location over and over, I have always had the utmost service here. The beauty advisors seem to be very knowlegable and know how to properaly pair the right product with the right person, and have the know how to offer a variety of suggestions as they know their products so I have always recieved decent advice here.
I find they listen more to the client as oppose to telling them what they need, they ask the right questions to help you decide what is best for you and thus helping you find the right product for your needs and budget.
I am not much of a returner, especially when it comes to makeup and skincare but whenever I have had to return something here they were more then accommodating. In fact there was one time where I had bought a foundation and on the way out asked a question and was directed to this fabulous pressed, matte fixing powder… well needless to say I went to the counter to purchase it and thought I did but when I got home I could not find it for the life of me!!! I checked everywhere… car, apartment, garage… everywhere I went that day! Everywhere and it was nowhere… so as a last ditch effort I called Sephora and wound up heading back there to see if maybe I had left it on the counter. Although nobody could find this darn little powder they replaced it free of charge without problem. I coudln’t believe it!
Little things like that show that a company values each customer and really make an impact on a shoppers opinon on the brand in general. But this will definitely continue to be my GO TO Sephora as I have not found another that has topped it

Sephora is the candy store for women. Ok, not all women… throw in the occasional guy but mostly ladies. It is a giant cosmetics and beauty store to help primp, curl, doll up, cover, accentuate, and take your hard earn dollars away as you look your best. It rivals any department store for brand selection… if anything, it probably has the most brands in Canada. It has everything from pre-​teens Tokidoki and Hello Kitty to the expensive couture brands such as Dior and Guerlain.
The Canadian stores are not like the ones found in Europe. The ones in Europe are better curated, cleaner, and contains more high end brands like Chanel. The ones in Canada feels like a self serve ‘bulk barn’ of make up. Most patrons here have no clue here and you can see them slathering on the testers (or worst yet, the actual retail products) and making a mess. This one in Sherway is one of the better ones in GTA. It is cleaner, it has less traffic (so it makes it more enjoyable experience), and there’s actually inventory here most of the time. One thing I find with Sephora is that their inventory sucks. You’ll find lots of empty spots behind testers.
Prices are standard but their point system is much better than The Bay and Holts (which has none). It’s not as good as Shoppers Drug Mart /​Murale but they don’t carry all the same brands.
Help here is scattered and hard to find like all Sephora. Occasionally, you’ll find a gem who is knowledgeable, friendly, and genuine. One time I was looking for foundation here and the SA was able to recommend 2 other foundations with a great colour match. I was pleasantly surprised as no other Sephora has been able to help me in that area. Kudos to this team for having knowledgeable staff.

True, one can be left alone in here to do your shopping. I’m a guy, so I’m used to being left alone in here until I have that «Cripes, I need an adult» look on my face.
Unlike other stores, this place had everything I needed.
Sephora, please do males a favour: if you offer a points program, please offer stuff geared at men. I can’t tell you how many times I buy my stuff and as the cashier takes my card, she says «Whoa! You’ve gotta a lot of points!».

Like most Sephora I walk into, the element that is lacking is customer service. The store was nearly empty and yet I was in there a good 10 minutes until a sales girl came over to me as I meditated over a large selection of lipgloss. In a huge cosmetic store with more products than I can shake a stick at I want a knowledgable guide to help me find what I want. I’ve walked out of the Sephora at the Eaton’s Centre because of this and it is frustrating. The products are top dollar but the customer service Sephora is no better than Walmart.
