Beta5 Chocolates

… Had the chocolate, coconut, pineapple yogurt and salted caramel cream puffs all were delish. Love the fillings cause it was not sweet at all.

A couple of people mentioned that the crème puffs here are to die for ! So I decided to swing by and get a box for a sick friend to cheer him up. This place is like… in the middle of no where! Hidden in an industrial park, near the tow truck place where I frequent a couple of times… keke. How was the crème puffs? They were cute like those smurf’s mushroom houses we use to watch when we were kids. I asked the cashier for the most popular ones: raspberry & earl-​grey, blueberry, vietnamese coffee (me Lol.) and finally the last one looks like it has a strawberry short cake hat on it… oh well. Very berry cute.

Good chocolates and Yes good desert. I got a chocolate bar as gift and the chocolate is nice and smooth. It really melted in my mouth.
Well, my sister has picked up treats here before. Like Ice Cream Sandwiches etc. I loved their ice cream sandwich. Its different from the other places. The crème puff are hit and miss. Some flovors are ok like the brulee ones and some not so good.

I went back and ordered some of their cream puffs for a birthday! They were really great to work with. I emailed an order ahead of time and my cream puffs were put aside for me for pick up! No hassle at all!

The fruity ones were our favourites. Next time I would like to try their cakes with the cream puffs!

Very cool establishment. I just wanted to try their crème puff. It was well made. Tasted great, not too sweet, nice to eat as a snack or dessert. Can’t wait to go back. Way better than chewy juniors.

I bought two cream puff wreaths. They were alternating puffs filled with eggnog custard and spiced pecan whipped ganache.
Oh my goodness!!! They were extremely extraordinary delicious that I couldn’t find them anywhere else. Nobody else could make better cream puffs than Beta5 so far. Indeed all their cream puffs are excellent that they are irresistible. I am not exaggerating.
Each cream puff wreath cost $ 10. Each customer could only order 2. I preordered 2 a day before and picked them up the following day.
They sell a lot of handmade chocolates as well. I tried them before. They were excellent! The cream puffs and/​or chocolates are a bit more expensive but it is WORTH it!!! You are buying good quality of food at the right price.

Lovely winter collection ! I advise you to have those cream puffs at the store, or if you are going to take out please eat them as soon as possible! Otherwise they become very soggy :’(

First and foremost, I would have liked to admit that I knew Beta5 Chocolates was not a formal shop; in other words, I had not known what to look for once in the dingy, seemingly run-​down area. I finally spotted the garage-​style vendor and was disappointed to find that there was really one thing available on the menu (I arrived around 3 – 4 PM). My friend and I were lucky enough to order the very last remaining cream puffs in the cherry variety. By far the most delicious cream puff I have ever had, though it was short-​lived. Will make another trip, if I am brave enough to scour the area!

The storefront isn’t anything to rave about. No seating. Just walk up and order. It’s in a warehouse like building/​street. Good for parking at least because it’s not busy.
Cream puffs: I give this a 3.5 stars. They’re pretty big and pretty pricey at $ 5 CAD a piece. I feel like eating half of one is good enough in one sitting. There’s also too much cream for my preference. The bottom of the puff has the custard and the top part you can see out of the puff shell is the cream. Of the two flavors I tried, vietnamese coffee was better than apple pie. There were about 10 flavors, half being seasonal. These only last 1ish hrs outside of the fridge and a day in the fridge.
Chocolate: I give this a 5 star! The truffles are soo cute! They are also pretty small, but good for how much I’d enjoy. Pricey a bit yes. Box of 6 for $ 17 CAD. They have fun/​interesting flavors to choose from! The quality of the truffles is superb. Jasmine Tea was good as a piece of truffle, but not very strong in the tea taste.
I’d come back for the chocolate! Maybe try their ice cream sandwich. Looks like one flavor offered. It was Irish Cream when I went.

Beta5 really defines what it takes to be a hidden gem. Their incredible array of desserts are definitely not something that can easily forgotten. Those who come and visit, are definitely not stumbling in by accident.
Everything from their chocolates to their cream puffs, to their amazing ice cream socials are executed with so much thought — the ingredients are so natural, and the flavours combine perfectly together no matter how weird it might sound at first glance.
I’ve been lucky enough to have attended 2 ice cream socials (milk tea & birthday sundae), taste almost all their flavours of cream puffs, ice cream sandwiches, signature chocolates as well as their chocolate bars — and I have never been disappointed by a single thing!
Judging solely based on their weekly ice cream socials — they really can’t be beat, even by many ice cream shops in Vancouver.
The staff are great, and anything you get here is obviously completely unique and unlike anything else you can find in Vancouver!

OMG why have I not found you earlier! These cream puffs were amazing. The crunchy shell and soft velvety cream inside. All the flavours are delicious.
The location is out of the way in the industrial park but well worth the trip. The people were nice and polite taking the orders. They also have free samples of chocolates to try.
There a bit pricy but it’s a nice treat once in awhile. 1 for $ 4.50, 4 for $ 18 and 9 for $ 40.
We bought four: (note: we ate two right away and three later that evening after refrigerated the outer crust was not as crispy)
1. Vietnamese coffee: so yummy. I love coffee so it hit the spot for me. Good coffee flavours.
2. Raspberry earl grey: light and tart. Can’t taste the earl grey much but you can taste the raspberry.
3. Strawberry camomile: nice strawberry flavours and a hint of camomile.
4. Variations of chocolate: OMG chocolate lovers dream. The chocolate cream on top is soft and velvety. Perfect amount of chocolate sweetness.
5: Raspberry lime: has a sour tart taste. Not too sweet. Has a full putter crunchy she’ll. My least favourite of the five but still good.

I am usually a fan of the cream puffs but had a few that were less than spectacular yesterday. The cream puffs were very hard. I tried two of them and they were both off. Maybe they just had an off day. On Saturdays during the summer, they have ice cream social day and have creative and wonderful ice cream sundaes. Even at $ 10, it’s worth it because the flavors are delicious and a piece of art. The ice cream sandwiches at $ 5 are divine. I’m going to stick to the ice cream and ice cream sandwiches.

Theres not a single bad thing I can say about this place. Cream puffs, icecream sandwiches, icecream sundae socials, chocolates, all super amazingly tasty!!! The staff here are always nice and go above and beyond with my ridiculous requests sometimes! (I’ll keep that to myself… hahahah) Can’t say enough good things about Beta 5, seriously a GEM and a must-​visit in vancouver.

This is more than food. It’s art. I mean, at least thats how I justify the pricey menu. But seriously everything they make is just next level, both optically and flavour wise. I’ve tried just about every creampuff on the menu and they’re all pretty spectacular. Summertime icecream sandwiches at Beta5 are a total treat. Delicious icecream sandwiched in a macaron shell. Om nom nom nom. The chocolates also make an impressive gift and are almost too good looking to eat. They also periodically have dessert jars with layers of delicious goodness and flavours and textures that are pretty amazing. Gobbled up a blueberry cheesecake icecream sandwich and i would say thay tops my day. Hurry and get em while they’re still here!

My wife loves this place so much I took her to it for our first wedding anniversary. It was the second stop on our big food tour.
We got the black sesame macaron ice cream with peanut whip cream and purple jelly.
Worth it cause it was so good. I recommend going to anyone. Best dessert in Vancouver.

I was only in Vancouver for a few days. Unfortunately it doesn’t fall on the days they have their specialty ice creams. Thinking if their specialty ice creams are good their ice cream sandwiches should be just as good right? WRONG…
The macaron ice cream sandwich was totally a waste. I’m not even gonna sugar coat this, I think the ice cream at the freezer isle is better then theirs. It tasted extremely dense with the lack of flavor. Almost like I’m eating chunks of flour. The macaron, man you think the ice cream is bad the macaron got worse. You can tell these weren’t freshly made. I bake my own macarons for fun and mine are extremely fresh so I can tell the difference from fresh and stale macarons. They served me some stale frozen cold macarons that squished a chunk of ice cream. Very disappointed. I guess looks can be deceiving. Maybe the other items and ice creams are better but this was just… NO. The rating I give for the ice cream is a ⁰⁄₅.
The chocolates… oh my goodness. Hands down one of the best chocolates I’ve had. It’s rich and creamy. Kicks of flavor all in one bite. Super delicious and worth a trip out to. I can’t express how delicious these chocolates are so best for you to come try yourself. My only regret is not buying more. The rating I give for the chocolates alone makes up for the loss in ice cream — ⁵⁄₅.
Location is a bit weird. This place is located on the industrial side of the city. Kind of an odd location but whatever works right?

This place is ah-​mazing. You won’t understand if you haven’t tried their cream puffs.
A family member brought 4 of these bad boys over and I was told they cost $ 4.50 a pop before actually seeing them. My initial thoughts were, ‘this better satisfy my tastebuds.’ The cream puffs are ginormous and to sum everything up… totally worth the price. Oh yeah, they look very, very pretty (which is always a plus).
Don’t worry, I didn’t eat all 4 in one sitting but a few of us managed to slice them into smaller pieces and share so each individual can get a taste of each flavour.
Raspberry Earl Grey — a winner in my books. I would’ve like more earl grey though but the tangy/​sour taste of the raspberry is quite refreshing.
Coconut-​Passionfruit — my favourite out of the 4 I tried. Love the combined taste of coconut and passionfruit.
Vanilla — nothing very special about this one, can’t really taste the vanilla and it is a bit boring.
Vietnamese Coffee — not impressed with this one. I guess I was hoping for a strong coffee taste but this came up short.
Would’ve loved to try the chocolate praline, salted caramel, and blueberry yuzu…
In conclusion, I will definitely be returning for the ice cream sandwiches and various other decadent desserts.

Amazing, unique outer cream puff layer allows the bread to keep crispy-​ish, so that it doesn’t get too soggy.
Cream… oh my gosh the cream. So flavorful, yet not too sweet, AND you can actually differentiate all the different flavors. PLUS, all the flavors are sooo different, so it caters to everyone!
My favorite so far is the earl grey, because THE CREAM! OH MY GOODNESS THE CREAM!
Service is fast and friendly, tho the shop is just a whee bit on the small side. Even though its in the middle of nowhere… they do get quite the crowd.
I want to try more! Definitely will be coming back!
PS: buy more than 6 to get a bit of a discount. Don’t worry, you can finish the 6 no problem. Or no problem finding friends to help you finish either.
Ooooo. another plus side is. that because the bun is crispy-​ish, you can actually do quite a striaght clean cut to do halfies, allowing you to be able to share and try more flavors: D

Why didn’t anyone tell me the cream puffs were the size of tennis balls?!
For some reason when I looked at the pictures and the price, I thought «overpriced ping pong balls». But at $ 4 a piece if you do the bulk-​price of $ 16 per four, these are a great price for what you get.
I tried Banana, Blueberry Yuzu, Raspberry-​Earl Grey, and Walnut + Apricot.
I liked the Blueberry Yuzu the best but Yuzu flavour did dominate the whole thing. Banana was next with a strangely simple straightforward banana flavour.
What they all have in common is a creaminess that does not convey that fatiguing heavy feeling you can get when having something rich in cream, dairy, fat, or butter. This means the cream puffs are dangerously easy to consume one after the other. Their size, however, makes it more sensible to share, although cutting them requires a bit of patience and a lighter touch.
Cutting them also gets you a more manageable portion that is less likely to squirt cream out in an inconvenient direction. Plus you can lick at whatever cream flavour interests you to isolate.
TIP: Hang around the store long enough and they will probably bring out chocolate samples.

This place is a little hard to find but watch out for a sign on the street that tells you where to turn in for their small parking lot.
The two of us ordered four crème puffs — earl grey and raspberry, pear and ginger, smore, and Vietnamese coffee. We also got two chocolates — jasmine and earl grey.
My favorite crème puff by far was the earl grey and raspberry. The raspberry cream was REALLY good and I loved the strong earl grey cream. YUM. The others were just mediocre. I could not taste the pear or ginger very well in the pear and ginger crème puff. The coffee flavor was really strong in the Vietnamese coffee, and I did not like the smore. That was my BF’s choice and his kind of thing. The filling was not cream, it was solid chocolate cream.
I’m not a huge chocolate connoisseur because I pretty much like all chocolate, but I enjoyed the jasmine flavored chocolate.
