For the wed. wings /beer and great service. Nice place to relax and watch an sporting event on TV. Not kid friendly. Free parking in the back.

Okay, it’s a bit of a dive and it’s always suspiciously empty when I go. Sometimes it’s not open when it should be. However, the food is usually good and the specials are really great. The Irish Nachos sound like a good idea, but they’re not as delicious as they should be. HOWEVER, the deep fried bacon wrapped pirogies are a freaking REVELATION. Like, that’s just genius. They’ve also got a better than average Shepherd’s pie and a really great steak special(Steak, Caesar salad and great french fries) on Fridays. The steak is well seasoned and lean and it might look on the small side, but paired with the generous helpings of sides, it’s a perfect amount for me. Lots of TVs to watch whatever sporting event you are into and service is pretty good(since, again, I’m always the only one in there!).

Once, ten years ago, I went to Dentry’s and ordered a club sandwich. I wasn’t happy with it and sent it back, perhaps a little unfairly. I felt slightly bad about it. I went back recently and ordered another club. The menu said it came with aged English cheddar. It came with a Kraft single. I didn’t complain. Now we’re even. I will say that the service was excellent. It has to be. This dingy little dive is on its last legs. Somebody call Gordon Ramsey to address this kitchen nightmare.

I never write reviews but I feel I have to warn people about this place. The atmosphere is dingy which is normally okay if it’s accompanied by good food and good drinks. I’m a fan of dive bars. My friend and I went there on a weekday evening after work to order dinner and a pitcher of beer. The place was dead which would also be fine if accompanied by good food. She ordered the bacon wrapped perogies and I ordered the«mini burgers» aka: sliders. I took one bite of my sad looking slider and was almost sick to my stomach immediately. It had no fresh toppings, a plain grocery store bun, and the meat tasted of freezer burn and like it had been dug out of the bottom of a bargain bin. It was absolutely inedible. I didn’t dare try my friends perogies because I was so put off despite being starving. It was served with 3 tortilla chips on the plate that I gingerly nibbled on. The bartender/server came by and noticed I’d barely touched my food and didn’t say a word or do a service check of any kind. The bartender/server was not the worst but I felt he probably had too much to do to care about the service or the food. If I had some advice for the owners; splurge on a fresh, tasty menu and more staff and your bar would immediately become a local hot spot. It’s so close to lots of traffic and has such potential. On a positive note, the beer was cold and tasted like beer.

Great student bar. DONT come here for a fancy high quality dining experience, but if you want to get beer and nachos while you watch a hockey game, it’s perfect

Service here is good. The place is a bit quiet but has the standard beers on tap. Typical crowd here is people from the local neighbourhood or students from the nearby university looking for a place to hang out.

Came here on a quiet tuesday evening(6:30 pm) and ordered 10 bacon wrapped pierogis(the minimum). It was a great experience. Shared a pitcher of scotch ale and had 2 hours of great conversation! Tax and tip came out to $ 13 — $ 14. Great pub(an irish band comes in on tuesdays around 8pm) and i’ll definitely be back again!

Average priced and decent food. Good place for gathering with friends. Daily specials are also great especially wings Wednesdays

Overall a decent pub in the hood but when i see fruit flies in the men’s washrooms, maybe i’m overreacting. Ordered the perogies, which actually were pretty good. The hummus and pita bread, though not authentic, passed the test. Lots of seating, and tvs. Nice to have a happening patio for the eye candy.

Solid pub, much like the ones back home in England. Maybe everyone’s all fancy over here with their super posh bars, all sparkly and clean but lacking character, or the alternate sports bars with screens on every wall. Space to sit, our group ended up ordered 60 bacon-wrapped perogies, they really were good: D Lots of food choice(yes butter chicken was on there, but I see curry on the menus back home too!). Friendly service, didn’t bother us constantly… We even had live Irish music — a large group of musicians turned up and played Irish music a good solid while, was great! I’d go again for a quiet drink and chat :)

It’s supposed to be Irish pub I guess, but I don’t know what was Irish about it. We had a $ 100 tab — between the two of us. Sounds like a crazy night right? Hardly. The pale ale pitcher that was on special($ 12.50) tasted like watered down beer. So I stuck with what I knew, Strongbow. Then we had some tasty shots, the tequila was really good. I saw in a previous review that shots were 4 for $ 10? I wish I knew or was told that because we certainly would’ve gone for it. The chicken wings were OK. It wasn’t that warm. There just wasn’t anything special about this place. And while there were a lot of TVs, I was in direct view of the giant big-screen one but actually couldn’t see it because of whatever post/ledge that was in the way, which was annoying. It was a Canucks game night, but it was also Sunday night, so the bar mostly consisted of older men, and a big group of students. Service was OK considering the bartender was the only one working the entire place. Had to go up a few times to order our drinks and food.

Dentry’s is a cheap little slightly run-down«irish» pub in Point Grey. It is popular amongst UBC students and beer-pong playing frat boy types as well as retirees and UBC staff and faculty-types as well. This is mainly because the drinks aren’t outrageously priced(compared to pubs on campus), you can always get a seat, the service is quick and friendly, and there really aren’t any other pubs in the vicinity. Also, they are open later than most establishments on the block and always have the game on the many TVs placed strategically around the pub. I have ordered beer, cider, and cocktails here. In my experience, it is better to stick with beer or cider(the cocktails aren’t bad, but they aren’t really experts in the martini area here). They serve a variety of greasy pub dishes to go with your beer, which aren’t bad but nothing to write home about. Overall, this place is great if you are looking to relax and grab a pint after glass or work. Nothing fancy or stuck-up about it. It’s a nice little«local» for residents in the area.

I have to start out by saying that I’m a little biased because it’s booze that is walking distance from my residence. With that said though, it makes my 2 star rating seem a tad bleaker… I wish the menu was more in synch with the Irish theme of the pub. I wish the Irish theme was more apparent throughout the entire pub, it’s kind of strange that the bathrooms are designed in a Grecian style — at least the women’s bathroom is, I assume the men’s is post apocalyptic due to the UFC fight nights. I think there was an Irish waitress working there the last time I went in, so that’s something at least. Anyways the bottom line is that I am a repeat customer; the location is great, the price is decent, the food isn’t awesome but it gets better with every drink you down, and they also have shot specials(4 for $ 10 — Table of 2+) which is great if you’re a drunk like me. Cheers!

There isn’t much exceptional about this place. The beer list isn’t great, the service is slow, it’s pricey for what you get, and you can expect to be crammed in with 19 year old(barely) overflow from UBC.

A typical old school pub. A good place to come in for a quick drink with a friend after work or to stop by before heading out for the evening. The food is not too bad but nothing to write home about. But for a relaxed unpretentious drink it can’t be beat.

Been going hear for many years now and the place has changed only slightly. Atmosphere depends on what night you are there, from one extreme of sleepy pub with three punters to packed Irish bar with live music. Food is great and they carry Red Racer, an awesome bitter that I have never seen anywhere else. Not a bad place to watch the big games either. long may it continue!
