I always love it when I discover a «normal» restaurant with a great vegetarian selection that is more than salads and a veggie wrap. The staff is kind, food tasty, and great price! Come to visit this place when you’re in the neighbourhood!

Pretty fantastic freshly ground burger. Fries or salad, you can’t go wrong with either. Do it!

All my coworkers and myself go here frequently. Never had any complaints but have a lot to compliment about. Their food always meets expectations. The taste and presentation is delicious. I especially love their shoes string fries and dressing on the salads which always compliments all the dishes I’ve ordered and to my surprise, both come with my vegetarian wraps or Turkey sandwich. Always leave satisfied and comfortably full. The culinary students do an awesome job

Amber, Robert and everyone at HAVE Café are fantastic. It’s a really welcoming place(thanks to Robert!) and the food is some of the best in the area. They have a daily soup, sandwich AND salad special that is $ 5.95 and all day breakfast which is rare in the neighborhood. They have an extensive menu including salads, fish and chips, noodle dishes, pizza… you really can’t go wrong here.

I miss working near here. I loved this place and what it stands for. The food could be a bit hit and miss, but hey, they are training. I never had anything bad! I fully support this place. Good people doing good things. :) try it!

I had lunch here today with about 30 business people. It was a set lunch, with a salad, soup, entrée, dessert and coffee. Décor was very clean and fairly neutral. The salad was mixed greens, with candied walnuts. some canned mandarin segments and a neutral dressing. Better than many I’ve had downtown. Soup was homemade tomato. Not too pureed and had the right amount of «bits» in it. I’m a fan. Pork tenderloin with a mushroom sauce, roasted fingerling potatoes, sliced carrots and pickled red cabbage. Good sized portions, good flavours, fairly well presented. Crème Brulee. What can I say? Perfectly caramelized topping and very cool inside. A little sweet for my taste, but I am a CB snob. Their regular lunch menu has all-day breakfasts, salads, sandwiches, burgers, pasta, rice and noodle dishes; priced from $ 6 to $ 11. Looks well worth the money and you are helping an amazingly good cause. Even the parking is cheap in the area. Do yourself and society a favour… try the HAVE café for lunch.

I ate lunch here today with a pal who is opening a restaurant in this neighbourhood. I have walked past this location a million times, and never once noticed this little hole in the wall café! It is a training kitchen for residents of the DTES who want to gain skills once sober, so eating here can make a huge difference in someone’s life — a cause I can really get behind. Inside, the décor is extremely clean and cute — a world away from the atmosphere on Powell St just outside the door. We ordered from a chalkboard menu at the counter, and our cashier/server was really polite and efficient. The offerings start with sandwiches and simple breakfasts, and there are also pastas, burgers, pizzas and lots of specials with an emphasis on filling, simple fare. I chose the shrimp salad sandwich, and it arrived soon afterward. I wish I could say better things about it, but the shrimp salad was literally dripping with mayo and was a bit gross as a result. I was also pretty horrified when I bit into a large chunk of ice from the poor thawing job! The shoestring fries and the salad were great, though, and my pal’s veggie burger was good too.(She also claims the lasagna is killer) I will be back, HAVE Café — hopefully the kinks are worked out!
