Great atmosphere, delicious food and a top notch Caesar!

Great food, terrible service!
When we arrived, we asked for a table of 2. Other groups of 2 that arrived after us were seated before us, even though the place doesn’t take reservations.
When we were seated, I asked the server why others were seated before us even though we arrived before them, and she simply brushed me off. The service was terrible throughout, the server never even offered to refill my water, and pretty much ignored us the rest of the night. I had to leave ‘zero’ tip in order to send a message. It’s a shame, because this place actually has decent food.

Amazing patio… try to snag a spot if you can. Always good & cheap drink specials. Food is good too, much better than your typical pub food.

Local has a great location, vibe, and fish tacos. I used to think they had good burgers, but recently the bun has been super dry and the shredded cheese wasn’t even melted on the burger. Still ate it, but for $ 14, you’d expect a little better. The patty is excellent and the burger was visually appealing but everything else was lackluster.
I also find it surprising that the «go to» lager was Sapporo. I have nothing against it, but being called Local, I woulda thought Parallel 49 or Red Truck would have been a more appropriate go to.
Also, the patio tables were really grimy. I hate being the guy to complain, but my elbows literally stuck to the surface. Service was OK, considering it was really busy.
I’ve always liked Local, and still do, but a little more attention to detail and this could be 5 stars.

First place we ate at while in Vancouver. The waitress was incredibly friendly and helpful. I have a dairy allergy and they were able to accommodate me with some really delicious food. The wings were wonderful, nice and crispy. A person with me had the big kahuna burger and said it was absolutely delicious and would want to go back again for it. Another person had the fish and chips and said the same, that it was absolutely delicious. We’ve gone twice already on this 10 day vacation and will probably go once more before we leave.

The veggie burger was shit it tasted like poop the perogies tasted so fake and the prices are so unnecessarily high

I love the vibe, the décor, the food, the drinks and the staff! It’s in such a great location, right across from the beach. This is my favourite place to go after a long day laying in the sun on the beach.
The margaritas come in a boot first of all. Fantastic! The guacamole is freaking mind blowing! The calamari comes with a white sauce and a really, really spicy red sauce. It’s battered in a tempura batter and seasoned. It is cooked perfectly. Almost melts in your mouth, not chewy at all. My friend also got the pulled pork poutine. All of it was so good. Not a single complaint!
You can sit outside on the deck, inside or on a covered patio, but they have all of the windows open so it is almost like sitting outside. We sat on the covered patio at the bar as there was a bit of a wait to sit out on the patio. The service is prompt, the servers are so awesome and fun! The food comes without much of a wait. Even the other patrons there are super nice and we struck up conversations with people all around the bar.
The prices are good, a little on the pricy side but nothing absurd. The food is great, the staff is great, the drinks are awesome! I love this place and I can’t wait to come back!

Hate to give anyone a bad review but if your going to have fried chicken on a menu, it shouldn’t be some gross frozen fried chicken, otherwise was I served old chicken? Same flavour as the Safeway frozen fried chicken. I’d go back for a burger but not the chicken.

Great place, great location, great ambient, great service and beautiful girls serving. Long waiting (25 mins) to get a table but when you are in, the food and drinks come very fast, even if the place is full of customers.

I’ve been here a few times and I can honestly say this is the perfect place to go if you want some comfort food. The LOCAL Burger here is absolutely delicious. The jalapeños and cheeses are what make it so amazing and it’s a must try! Their fries are great too– a little too salty but delicious nonetheless. The Fully Loaded Chicken Nachos are delish and great if you want something to share. Cocktails are good, nothing special, but good. Servers are really nice (and may I add attractive too) for the most part. This place does have it’s ‘off’ days but overall they’re pretty great.

Sorry to have to leave this review, but I hope it helps The Local get back to the level of quality service they used to have…
My wife and I went recently for a date-​night, and decided to order the chicken nachos, as they were always a safe-​bet: tasty, with plenty of toppings and chips. However, this time, the kitchen forgot to put the chicken in the dish! We only recognized the omission after we had eaten a chunk of chips off the plate. We notified the waitress, and although she offered to correct the mistake, by the time she came back with the news, we weren’t in the mood for more nachos.
We ordered something else, and the rest of the meal was okay… although the music volume and selection was very unappealing.
In the past, servers and managers would go the extra mile to make us feel important and taken care of. As a result, we’ve spent thousands of $$ at their establishment over the years. This time, however, we were told that because we ate some of the chips (and ordered guacamole), we would be charged for nachos and guacamole. Even though we voiced our displeasure, we were informed that the manager said that was the best they could do. Overall, the discount we received for the major mistake was about $ 2.
The money issue was not the most disappointing — it was being left with the feeling like we’re not important to them as customers. We were left with a bad taste in our mouths, and because of that, will probably never go back to The Local for a night out.
Hopefully this was a very limited experience for their customers, but I noticed that all servers and managers had changed. Maybe this is their new customer-​service policy?

In the summer this place cannot be beat. The location at Kits beach is glorious on a nice day and a lovely place to while away a summer afternoon people watching.
We went on a sunny Sunday and sat out on the patio. The service is casual and friendly and the menu puts a few twists on the classic pub fare. I went for two appetizers– the Potato and Cheese Perogies (served with bacon, onions and sour cream) and the Mexican Street Corn. The Perogies were just what I had been craving, the flavors on the street corn were right up my alley– creamy cotija cheese, a little chilly and finished off with lime juice– I’m salivating thinking abut it!
My companion had the Crispy Chicken Sandwich — it arrived and was a behemoth piece of crunchy, crispy chicken between a soft buttery Portuguese bun– a great combination.
I will definitely be back when the sunshine returns.

Great food. Really good drinks, cute waitress but service is very poor! I mean really poor! If you can be patient and don’t mind asking twice for a drink… this place will work.

My group of 5 had flown in and been in Vancouver for less than an hour when we got a recommendation to hit up the kits LOCAL («best patio in town!») so we assumed it must be good, and assumed correctly!
There’s a daily drink special (of which we all partook, #TrashyThursdays for the win) and ordered a round of delicious poutine for the table.
I had the Crispy Chicken Sandwich, which was divine. Other fan favorites at the table were the Hand Held Chicken Caesar Salad and both kinds of Tacos. All around a great variety of flavors to satisfy lots of palettes.
The service was excellent, our waitress was very attentive and super nice about all our touristy questions. Would definitely recommend!

This place is reasonable. The light fixtures were cool with the old style lightbulbs. There are TVs all over the place with different channels and not just sports. The food wasn’t anything real special but any place that serves pancakes in a bar type setting is moderately positive in my books. The pancakes I ordered were smaller sized which was great because I didn’t think I could manage a large plate of food since I was already feeling tired and we had a 3.5 hr drive ahead plus border, Seattle and Tacoma traffic. They were dry though and came with no butter. They also forgot the maple syrup which Canada is supposed to be famous for and instead had this strawberry smoothie type sauce on the side which wasn’t enough to cover but 2 of the 4 pancakes. We were suggested to come here by a waitress at the Rogue Wet Bar in downtown Vancouver because my friend really wanted the BEST fish tacos. My friend, being a fish taco connoisseur, confirmed that the fish tacos were decent but certainly not the best. The handmade guacamole with homemade tortilla chips were good though. I also noticed that this place had water bowls outside for people who bring there dogs, so that’s nice that you can leave your dog outside and not worry it will die to heat exhaustion. There is also outdoor seating so you can keep an eye on your furry pal. This restaurant is close to the beach and right across the street from the Starbucks, so after a day at the beach it’d be nice to stop here for a quick bite and then maybe jaunt off to the ‘Bucks for a follow up cup of Joe.

Good option close to the beach. Very pleasant pub full of young and beautiful people.
Good cocktail (Paloma) and also good appetizers (guacamole with chips and fish tacos).
The only thing that I wasn’t very happy I that we added our name on the wait list but the hostess doesn’t call us when it is our turn to seat and she also can’t give an idea of how long we should wait. We have to stay close to the entrance in order to not lose our turn to seat.

Best place for a beer on a hot summer day
This place’s got one of the best views of kits beach. It is perfect for a hot sunny day. The beer selection is really good, mostly local beer (suits the name well). I did not have a chance to try the food, I would definitely go back for it. They have 3 drinks on special each day of the week, which you don’t see very often in restaurants these days. This place gets a thumbs up

It was a nice beautiful day with nothing to do. So why not hit up the local and have a few drinks on the patio. Which is exactly what I did. I do love coming to the local during the summer. The drinks are cheap, service is good and the atmosphere is on point. You end up socializing with random people after a few drinks. A lot of people that come out here are pretty friendly. The view from the patio of the mountains and kits beach is on point too. On a final note I love the boot mug!!!
This place is defiantly somewhere you want to be as summer approaches.

I hadn’t been here in ages but gosh i still loved it just as much as last time.
I waited a good 10 minutes for a patio spot — but whatever 10 minutes is NOTHING, especially for that gorgeous little spot overlooking the water on a sunshiny day.
I got my table and almost instantly upon sitting down received my beer. Glorious… So I sat and read a book in the sun, drinking my chocolate porter, while waiting for my date. Rough life.
My date showed up and I ordered the ahi tuna club sandwich. I’d had it before but I knew how much I loved it, and so sometimes you need to go with the classic. I’m never disappointed with that sandwich — ahi tuna is always perfectly seared, bacon is always perfectly cooked — flavour explosion. I smashed it and could have eaten a whole other one — not because I was hungry but because it was so damn delicious.
A week earlier when we were here we had ordered the calamari and edamame beans. Both also amazing.
My only complaint was that my second beer never arrived. Guess I’ll just need to come back then.
