Los Amigos Taqueria

Have been here many times since it opened until more recently.
When it first opened portion sizes were large (ie lots of meat on tacos) and there were various sauces, jalapenos and pickeled onions to top your taco with. Hadn’t been here for a few months and came by in January only to find portion sizes had shrunk (less meat) and all the condiments were nowhere to be found.
Not sure if this was due to having run out earlier in the day (was there later evening) or if this is how it is now. Regardless, that was disappointing and considering the price has gone up since they first opened for less food, I left unimpressed for the first time.
The food tastes good (although I find the «other» competitor on Broadway & Cambie to be tops in my books) and if you are in the mood for fresh tacos, this is a great spot in the west end. However, as the portion size was smaller and due to lack of condiments, not sure if I’ll be back for awhile. Hopefully this was just a «bad day» for the business and they’ll get back to what it was like when they first opened.

I saw this in passing on the way to another foodie meet up group on October 15, 2015 and decided to book mark this for future reference.
OMG best salsa and chips ever. I love the salsa that comes with the chips. I could drink this.
The tacos were flavorful and filling.

The place is small with limited seating.

Came in on Christmas Day night for a light dinner and got a couple Linga tacos and they were greet. The people working were fantastic, the food was great and it was very reasonably priced. Would definitely come back again when I’m in the area. Knowing what real authentic Mexican food can taste like this definitely is on par with it. Would recommend and I will be coming back.

Definitely the best bang for your buck out of all the taco joints we’ve tried in Vancouver! Sometimes it can take a little time to get your order, but never to the point worth complaining about, always fairly reasonable time.
Saw a few people complaining about the taco size, but they are standard Mexican style tacos. The variety of available options is great and it’s fun to mix and match and try new things. The owner/​manager is a really nice, relaxed guy and everyone who works there is always pleasant.
The Tuesday 6 taco for $ 10 special is by far the best (3 meat 3 veggie). Highly recommend everyone checks it out!

I love love love tacos and these are by far the most authentic tacos in Vancouver. They have an AWESOME selection of vegetarian ones as well. The actual restaurant is very small and lacks character but I usually get this as take out since I live down the street. It is also super well priced ($ 7-​$ 10) for 3 tacos, and you can mix and match to try different kinds.

Ok, I’m not sure what to say here other than YOU MUST EAT THESE TACOS!!! They are amazing. The food is fresh and delicious and truly authentic. The owner is a very friendly guy, very professional and just a great chef. Tonight he asked if I had tried the soup, and when I said I hadn’t he recommended I try it. I got it to go, with my tacos, planning on having it for lunch tomorrow, but I’m eating it right now, and my mind is blown. Flavourful, full of huge chunks of pulled chicken and just incredible. I’d recommend this place to anyone. If you love delicious, authentic, fresh and healthy tacos, this will become your go-​to place. It’s mine now! There’s a great choice of chicken, beef and veggie tacos and every single thing I’ve tried there has been phenomenal. Seriously, eat there tonight. You’ll be glad you did.

Lovely taqueria. My favorite are the steak tacos (without salsa cause I’m picky). The prices aren’t bad compared to other taquerias in Vancouver but they don’t really fill a lot for $ 5. Still, it is the same size as the rest of em’ and they taste so when I have the to treat myself I do.

After not being able to fulfill my Mexican cravings the day before, I ended up here yesterday. It’s at Phở Central’s old super tiny location. On a summer-​like day like yesterday, the first thing I obviously noticed was the open air patio-​like seating. An excellent touch I must say.
Anyway they offer 4 tacos for $ 8.99 so I decided to get that which is a great way to try out their various meat tacos. I believe I chose 2 chicken ones and 2 beef ones. We were the only people there and I found the wait, which was about a good 10 to 15 minutes, rather long.
I must say I was disappointed with the size of the tacos, but it seems to be the normal at these newer «hip» places. Out of the 4 tacos I got, I would say the «Tinga» was my favourite. The chicken was tender and tasty and the various ingredients that were in it complimented the chicken well. The ones with the beef steak, I found were a bit on the hard side and not as tender as I would expect. I had a nibble of the beef tongue and I kind of regret not getting that one!
The tacos are definitely delicious, but since I’m about the bang for my buck, I was not too thrilled. I was still hungry after eating the four tacos. I wanted to then order the soup, but it was unavailable. So I decided to get the meat quesadilla.
The quesadilla came faster than the tacos. There was definitely a good amount of cheese. It wasn’t as delicious as the taco, but would have filled me up better. The quesadilla was about average, nothing too special to type about.
All in all, this was a lunch that cost me over $ 20. Would I recommend this place to other people? Yes, if you get full easily. The tacos are delicious and the patio-​like seating is great to people watch and seeing whatever happens on good ol Davie Street. But would I come back? It would be highly unlikely. Small portions, and prices I find are too expensive for what I get, just doesn’t sit well for me. Also, it seems like there are only two people running the restaurant at the time, so at times there would be no one taking your orders at the till for a while. While the food itself would be 3.75 to 4 stars, overall factoring in service and value, I will have to rate the establishment 3 stars.

Well priced, fast service and AMAZING (and authentic) tacos.

I had the super veggie, which was very good, and the mole and the tinga. The Mole was my favourite but they were all equally amazing.

I could not fault this. Coming from a country where Mexican food can be pretty average, the freshness and variety of ingredients in this quaint little restaurant blew me away. We walked in on a whim: it looked quiet and cosy on a blustery night. We were not disappointed — we received a warm welcome and a rundown on the tacos on offer. We couldn’t decide so got four of the meat and four of the vego — this was ample for two people. Each one was a joy to eat! Must go back to try the pozole soup.

Los Amigos has very welcoming, warm and friendly service. It’s quite charming and comfortable inside. The tacos are delicious, authentic, and full of flavour. Everything is super fresh and prices are good. I don’t remember all the different kinds I got, but every one of them was amazing.

I live this place. I come here quite often– I’ve yet to be disappointed. The pozole and tortilla soups are amazing! I always mean to take a photo of my meal but end up diving in too quick– it’s that tasty.

Compared to La Casita on Robson, this is a distant 2^nd, basically a carbon copy in terms of set up but LAT is a bit smaller. It’s alright by Unilocal’s ratings.
Ordered the Mole, decent value if you’re talking about quantity, 4 tacos for $ 9 but not much shredded chicken.

Los Amigos is a charming little store run by Sal. I’ve been eating at sal y limon and la taqueria and all the other places did not compare.
At Los Amigos, we tried their taco specials. We almost had 1 of each taco offered. Everything was perfect. The meat was cooked to perfection, the sauces blended perfectly with each taco and the service was warm.
The only taco that needed improvement would be their shrimp taco. I will update this review once they improve their shrimp taco.
Will definitely go back.

Ok tacos, but nothing to write home about. The bad: tiny tacos seems to be the norm everywhere.

Fantastic tacos, my new favourite taqueria for sure! So happy to have these guys in our neighbourhood. Will go back again ASAP, yum!

I walked by yesterday and was SO excited to see a taqueria opened to the Davie Village. Today I had the time to stop for lunch and I was not disappointed. The pescado and nopales tacos were absolute standouts. The staff were really friendly, the service quick, and the prices great. I’ll be coming back very often.
