Lovely spot for a drink and some food. When I visited it was sunny and warm. This made it feel so much better. The restaurants on the street is inviting and the food fairly basic.

I ordered a lunch platter and the food portion was very small, but it was enough for me. I liked the food and the environment, but honestly I think this place is too touristy and overpriced, just like all other restaurants in Nyhavn.

This place would absolutely be a 5 if they hadn’t got my order wrong twice while we were waiting, but it was honestly hard to be mad with the gorgeous view of the canal, the boats, the tourists, and the friendly atmosphere outside. Once I did get my food(from a waitress who actually spoke more English than Danish!) it was really tasty. I grabbed the herring platter which had curry herring, spicy herring, salt fried herring, and Christians Island herring. All of them were pretty good, and the portions were really large, and my friend ended up helping me finish my plate. They were generous with the bread and refilled our basket and brought more spread whenever we needed it. Of course we had aquavit to wash it down, and a beer. It was so relaxing(even though the place was PACKED) to just sit under an umbrella and enjoy the day and the ocean. A little pricy? Sure, but so is everything else in Copenhagen. Just be a tourist, take pics of the canal, drink and eat and be merry!

As the heat was in the high 80’ies and the sun was beating down, the tourist were vulture-like circling potential tables in the shade to be accessible. Finally we spotted movement and smoothly grabbed it as the party ahead of us were leaving. Maybe a bit aggressive, and with lack of flair; the mission still was accomplished. Here we sat down and had wine and beers, to accompany out toast skagen that tasted amazingly fresh and delicious. The shrimp, the cream, the fisheggs — super. This place is pricey, but so very worth it when it is a perfect summer day in Copenhagen. I drank the Nyhavn Lager that is only sold on this very street in the world(or so I was told) and felt like a million bucks. I don’t know what it looks like inside. At this time I don’t care ;)

This one is a five. I already told you in the tip that the cappuccino is just perfect and the apple pie ridiculously tasty. This is almost enough for 5 stars, isn’t it? On top there is outside seating at the canal with sunshine guaranteed, no shades in the way. Not enough? Take this: Funny, friendly, communicative, entertaining waiters. Actually handsome, too. ‚-) This one is a five.

Great place along the canal in Nyhavn to grab lunch. We stopped in and were able to grab a table outside to people watch and to hear the street performers. The menu is simple– there was even a special for the day which consisted of a herring variety plate. Not being a fan of herring(trust me I keep trying it but it’s just not my thing) I went for some of the pea soup and a Caesar salad. What a surprise when my salad showed up with a lovely piece of grilled chicken atop it and plenty of Parmesan cheese grated over it. The pea soup was also tasty and was served with big chunks of brown bread. Had a glass of their house red to to wash it all down and I was a happy girl! Don’t have Danish money? No problem– they pretty much will take any currency and will show you at the bottom of the bill what your total is in about 5 different currencies. But if salad isn’t your thing there is a burger, or steak option, plenty of local favorites like Skagen toast and even mussels available in two sizes. Trust me-you won’t go hungry at Nyhavn 37,

While walking around Nyhavn harbor post canal ride and taking obligatory tourist pictures, I was thinking in my head, who would eat at an overpriced place like this?! Then your stomach growls, everyone is sitting in the sun having a good time while watching the world go by. I was JEALOUS. Nyhavn 37 has the exact same overpriced menu as the other places around the canal and even offers American staples like burger and fries, but I wanted a traditional plate which includes herring, chicken pâté, some cheese and olives and lots of rye bread. The sample platter was priced at 169DKK(close to $ 30!) while I wouldn’t pay that price in SF, here in Copenhagen, I guess it’s ok. Jealousy is a bad, bad feeling.

Nice, typical place in nyhavn. But busier than the rest on a cool early fall day. We just had drinks but it was a nice ambiance. Folks eating seemed happy. Of course it is more expensive than other places but that’s what to expect if you’re eating in a tourist area.

It took about 45 minutes but Diane and I finally found two outdoor seats by the canal at Nyhavn at what appeared to be a fine restaurant. This is a harborside area with well over 20 restaurants all arrayed in a row cheek to jowl, all of which seem to be well patronized by tourists and locals alike morning through night. Green Pea Soup was very good, but warm rather than hot. This was my intended moment to at last try an authentic Danish-style open-face sandwich, and I found that the pickled cauliflower was not bad, and the roast beef of Toast Skagen with Lojrom working my way to pickle and tomato on brown bread was okay. But I met my match with the 37’s Lunch Plate’s uncreamed herring, red onions, and capers. The wiggly, fleshy herring without any cream sauce on it did not align well with my sensibilities despite my rather broad American eating tastes. So, after wincingly finishing half of it, I desisted, and decided that I would leave this delicacy to others. Besides, I had other alternatives to pursue. Very creamy shrimp tasted quite good on toasted brioche. And, Blue Mussels steamed in white wine and cream, with shallots, garlic, and thyme, and served with excellent bread, was great. Amazingly, I counted 36 mussels in the generous, quite filling serving. And, Diane enjoyed her medium-rare 37’s Burger with fried potato wedges.
