I was really excited to try this place because I do love my seafood and I heard the sommelier is really great. I went with some colleagues and it was really great because of the wine pairing and the simplicity of the dishes. The menu is small, but the menu is very fresh and they put careful thought into all the dishes. The scallops were my absolute favorite, but the little lobsters came a close second. It has a good casual vibe with Danish design so if you are a seafood lover, definitely go here. It’s the best seafood in town.

Excellent food and service… do not be put off by the limited menu. I had two different appetizers for my meal… lemon sole and a pan seared sole. The lemon sole was, without a doubt, the best fish that I have ever had. The sauce was unbelievable and I used extra bread in order to eat it, even after the fish was gone! If I had known, I would have ordered two of these and made it my meal! My husband had the sardines with potatoes and capers and the Turbot. He enjoyed both of them very much. When we figured out the exchange rate, the price of the turbot seemed exorbitant until I started looking at similar dishes at other restaurants… one restaurant had their turbot priced at close to $ 100 per serving, so the prices at Umage are not that unreasonable.

Small restaurant with limited menu. Fantastic oysters. Turbot was perfectly cooked. Husband’s scallops were lovely. We had a French Sauvigmon Blanc with our meal which was perfect with our starter and dinner. For dessert we shared a pastry filled with lemon cream. Pastry was on soggy side. Would definitely eat here again.

Restaurant Umage is next to the fresh seafood market. I actually got the recommendation from one of the seafood stores when I was looking for a place that will serve carabinero shrimp. Obviously, the seafood from Umage is super fresh. My friend and I had lunch at this spot and it was very enjoyable. In fact, as an oyster snob, I had one of the best oyster experiences at Restuarant Umage. While I generally enjoy Belon which has a more mineral flavor, I had the best Gillardeau oysters EVER at this restaurant. The sweetness was just incredible. As for the shrimp, it was good, but slightly disappointing — carabinero shrimp is super flavorful and they put tomatoes and basil which i would have preferred slightly less seasoning on my shrimp(but that could be me as I really enjoy the taste of good quality fresh seafood as is). Otherwise, we enjoyed the sea bass ceviche. The service was perfect. Highly recommand.
