A bit expensive but the place is great! Don’t come here if you’re really hungry better come for the experience and to find something different.

My wife and I recently spent a week in Barcelona and this was the best restaurant we went to. We had 12 dishes in all plus vermouth and espresso. Nearly all of the dishes we had were amazing. Most notably the white asparagus, I am a huge meat eater but this asparagus dish truly blew me away. I absolutely loved it. We also had the best steak in our lives here, the tenderloin cooked al carbon. We normally prefer strip steaks or rib eyes but this place works magic and somehow made this tenderloin the best steak we had ever had. The gamba shrimp is amazing as well. The olives of course are a must have. Desert was incredible too but I could not tell you what it was — it was long and flaky and filled with some kind of cream. Every dish was done masterfully here, we would definitely come back. Now a few things to consider depending on your tastes: The vermouth is very similar to straight Martini red/rosso but pairs well with their food. I am not a big fan of their stews — we had the lamb cheek and also the peas and mushroom. But I am not a big fan of stews to begin with. Now I wish we had gone to their big sister restaurant across the street: Tickets. Definitely next time.

I ran into this restaurant on the way of searching for my Airbnb host. The waitress was very nice to show me where I should go. Turned out its right across the street. After shower I planed to go back to the restaurant to have a late dinner like every espanol. But it was already about to close. The manager suggested me to make a reservation right there, because it’s always full! Why not? I just wrote down my name. I didn’t realize the popularity of this little restaurant until I got there on the time they opened next day. There were already people waiting outside. And many of them seem like tourists. As I sat down, I heard most of them asking for recommendation as I did As the food were presented one by one. I started realizing the reason. All dishes looked so delicate as they tasted. Small dishes with great quality. Reminds me of Japanese food. It was obvious that it was not only my opinion. People around me kept nodding their heads and saying«delicious, delicious» I enjoyed it so much that I decided to take a desert even I was quite full. Homemade cheesecake was full of flavor as well. Everything was great until I received my bill. Hahahah. I didn’t even ask for the price for each dish. But hey, I’m on holiday. I deserve it. Right?

So good. Had around 10 courses here. The vermouth is a nice touch to start off with. The jamon is great. The«olives» lived up to the hype. Two of my faves from the night were: artichoke heart draped in a sardine. Salty and smooth. And also their take on a chicharron — fried pork belly up to the skin with a spicy powder dusting. So good. What made this night even more special was that both Ferran and Albert were seated at the table next to us. Pretty amazing experience.

Truly world class. Definitely not a cheap corner tapas bar. High end interpretation in a relaxed atmosphere. Just let the chef take care of you. What a wonderful way to spend my last night in Barcelona. Now off to Paris. Yeah, hate if you must.

The Adria brothers famous for El Bulli and Tickets Bar. They have become restaurateurs with multiple restaurants in Barcelona. Tickets Bar being across the street. Bodega 1900 has a more relax and comfortable feel to it. The vermouth ode maintained the essence of the traditional foods. It’s definitely what I expected the atmosphere of a casual Spanish tapas bar to feel like. It’s lively, fast pace, loud and welcoming with a dark wood interior and the Joselito jamon iberico on displayed when you first walk in. The different ages of the jamon iberico hanging from the wall. There’s a bar area and tables all around with sidewalk seating. The staff were all really nice and the dishes were explained well unlike Unilocal reviews. Overall, Bodega is a nice plan B when you can’t get into Tickets Bar. It definitely does not compare to Tickets Bar. I wish I went to Bodega 1900 before I went to Tickets Bar. However, I went to Tickets Bar the night before and it definitely ruined my Bodega 1900 experience. The food is a lot more comforting than creative. It was a lot more simple than artistic. The flavors were not as bold as Tickets. Lastly, I still enjoyed my experience at Bodega 1900 and the food was definitely good. It’s a nice option for simpletons.

We stopped in while waiting for their sister restaurant, Tickets, to open. We had a few great tapas(croquettes and jamon ibérico and sardines, all of which were delicious). We enjoyed it so much that we returned the next night for a full dinner(fried mini shrimp, cheese, a 2nd kind of jamon ibérico, short rib empanadas, and the most exquisite chocolate dessert). Definitely don’t skip the dessert here! The ingredients are all of the highest quality(like Tickets), but all in a more traditional style. The staff were very friendly and happy to explain the menu.

Let me preface this by saying I really wanted to love Bodega 1900. I had heard the accolades about the Adrià brothers, read the reviews, had gone to see their demonstration while in Miami, and I absolutely couldn’t wait to see what they could do. Since we were unable to get reservations for the renowned Tickets(we later discovered they were hosting a private event that night), we figured we would try Bodega 1900 instead so that we could get their take on the traditional fare of the region. The prices are a bit higher than your average tapas place, which is often the case with such a notable chef. It doesn’t tend to bother me so long as the cuisine itself lives up to the accolades. However, instead of an unforgettable meal that I couldn’t stop raving about, I just found myself feeling a underwhelmed. Maybe it was an off night, or we ordered the wrong items, but I just don’t get the hype. Also, other than the olive«spheroids» I don’t really understand the reviews that consider this place imaginative. It is very conservative. As much as I try to avoid comparisons between one restaurant and another, I found it impossible not to compare Bodega’s gastro take on olives to the others we had during the course of our trip(Disfrutar and El Celler de Can Roca). The snow crab toast was also similar to one I had experienced at ABC Kitchen in New York, and the rest… well they were no different than any other tapas place we went, and that includes the generic market stalls. Moreover, they lost to others on almost every front. While I cannot deny that the ingredients themselves were fresh, I couldn’t help feeling let down by each item we ordered. Some items were over salted, others just plain bland, and overall I just couldn’t help but to think… that’s it? The Iberian ham croquette was competent but unremarkable. Ordering the manchego reserve cheese meant a small plate with just three wedges. No bread, no honey or nuts, none of anything to make it better in any way to the fare you would find in a local grocery store. The pan con tomate was possibly the worst version of the dish I had during our time in Spain, with the bread being slightly burnt. Although the space itself is beautifully decorated, it is also very small. The tables are practically on top of each other. From what I overhead said by the patrons around me munching on their tiny sandwiches slathered in mayo and over-fried calamari, it seemed that no one was thrilled with their meal. Moreover, I don’t normally care much about service, except when the staff is just outright rude as ours was. Not only was he unfriendly with us, but when he knocked into the table next to us and spilled their water, he didn’t even apologize to them. For being under the umbrella of such an impressive culinary pedigree I would expect better training of their staff. Again though, maybe it was just a random fluke of bad luck there. In Spain I can think of at least a dozen better options when you’re looking for tapas, and if you really want to try something from the Adrià brothers and Tickets is unavailable, I’d suggest El Niño Viejo Taqueria instead. They may not be serving local dishes but it is a more satisfying choice.

Just didn’t feel this one. It felt a bit more like overpriced U.S. «tapas» than something authentic. But hey, at least our overpriced tapas are usually interesting. This was little more than average pan con tomate, a couple thin slices of average manchego(at 7 euros!), a couple decent ham croquetas, a water, an Estrella, and a glass of wine. Oh, and a couple spherified olives that were a bit of a letdown — basically, olives in cute little spoons. There was a cheese with black truffle dish I was interested in, but they didn’t have it… and I found little else on the menu to be too compelling. I don’t have a problem with simple tapas, but close to 50 euros were paid for this. Maybe if we’d done a tasting menu, I would feel differently, but I’m skeptical. And to top it all off, the waiter wasn’t particularly friendly. There are Spanish tapas restaurants at home I’d rather go to, let alone elsewhere in Barcelona — you have countless options for this kind of food here, and it seemed to me that the Adria brothers are banking on their name — I’ve been to other places during my time here, and the others executed this style with a bit more flair, not to mention value.

Everything we had was very tasty. The portions were definitely on the smaller side which was nice so that you can try more dishes but it was priced on the higher side compared to other restaurants in the area. Still worth a try, don’t forget to make reservations; just make sure you’re not starving when you go. Favourites were liquid olive, sea urchin, razor clams, bread with tomato and Iberian ham, smoked mackerel variety dish and beef and tomato stew.

Extraordinary! Fresh food prepared with imaginative condiments, without being overbearingly«nouveau.» Start with some of their homemade vermouth — wow, what planet were we lucky enough to land on! Delicious! Aubergine lightly fried served with salmorejo sauce to accompany, butter-like slices of aged beef, small mussels with a slightly tangy sauce, navajas prepared with just a touch of EVOO, etc. Desert included the freshest cheese-like tart ever, figs pickled in port wine served with ricotta ice cream, etc. The setting is small, welcoming, and decorated simply. Runs around € 70/person, including drinks, desert, and coffee.

We were late to get tickets to Tickets… so we «settled» for Bodega 1900. And our socks were blown off, out the door, across the street, never to be returned. The Adrià brothers(from El Bulli) have nailed it — from friendly, fast service to thoughtful dishes that play with molecular gastronomy. The drinks, the portions, the taste — it was all there and then some. We left with huge grins and full bellies. Highly recommended.

Gourmet tapas in cosy and unpretentious restaurant. The best food we got since we moved to Barcelona 1 month ago. We asked the waiter to make a «selection de la case» with priority on seafood, joined by a bottle of cava. The tapas was creative and very nice looking but most important, tasted very good. Most of the seafood was cooked very lightly or not at all. Examples: Sea Anemone in tempura batter and very small shrimps a la plancha, to be consumed with shells. Not exactly a cheap restaurant, but it’s really worth the money. Waiters are attentive, good at giving advice and friendly. A place to return to when gourmet tapas are needed.

Other than tickets bar on the opposite side, this BODEGA1900 is one of my favourite. As referred from a Tickets Bar senior staff, we visited this best kept secret tapas restaurant, too. An egg sharp delicacy with Olive Essence, La aceituna-S Gordal c/piparra as the first starter with seaweed rolls were unforgettable. The rest of their recommendations were all wonderful. The server also suggested El melon con vermut blanco, fresh Mellon with wine prepared, as the dessert to end this culinary journey. Frankly, they are one of the best. Thanks.

*ZONA: Sant Antoni. *PRECIO: 35 €-40 €.

Where should I start? This is a vermouth bar run by the Adrià brothers(from El Bulli heritage) but I can promise you that you won’t leave hungry after sampling some of their tapas. They were so good we actually got them to squeeze us in for another meal two days later. :) We got excellent service even though we spoke English(didn’t have a problem with that anywhere in Barcelona actually). Start with their house made vermouth, the potato crisps and some molecular olives and go from there. I believe we tried most of the tapas dishes and all three Cavas. Go for the Juve y Camps Millesime, but let the bottle warm up a bit on the table, they like to serve it too cold. Everything ranges from really good to perfection(hello olives ;)) but you can skip the chilled beef carpaccio(had a, for me, weird roe flavor), the chicken and foie gras cannelloni(good but not great) and the fried squid with mayo in bread(funny hot dog style but too much mayo). I will return the next time I’m in Barcelona and also try the Adrià brothers neighboring places Tickets or 41° Experience which seem even better.

I wanted to try a restaurant of the Adria brothers and taste the food that they’re known for. Barcelona wasn’t a great place for tourists because locals are very rude to you, even the cops are just upright rude. However, this place was a nice little touch of customer service and good food. Waiters don’t work for tips in Barcelona so we’ve been getting bad service everywhere around Barcelona. That wasn’t the case here. Our waitress was very polite, catering and worked with us on what to order. We weren’t sure what to order, so she did the chef’s choice where she just kept bringing out tapas for us to enjoy. She was very knowledgeable of everything that was served and catered to our food allergies. I wanted to try the liquified olives and I’m so glad we did, we tried two different flavors too. Not sure how they did it, but it was just delicious. Barcelona is known for their vermouth so we had to try it here, where they make their own. It wasn’t my cup of tea… err, cup of vermouth but it was still pretty good and I’m glad I tried it. Of course, there were iberico jamon on the plate for options so I was thrilled to have it at Bodega 1900 where they cure it themselves(hanging in the storefront of the restaurant). The foie gras itself tasted like it was made in their backyard, everything tasted so fresh! The best part is, my girls loved eating everything and our waitress even got their own portions, which was nice. They had fresh squeezed orange juice refilled for them and was a great part of our meal. They were just oogled over and treated like adults as far as customer service went. It was all great until we got the bill. It was the most expensive tapas I’ve ever had, over $ 200(they charged in euros). I wished the waitress asked us what type of bill we’re looking to pay, because that was pretty pricey. I paid it and even tipped a bit because the service was wonderful. However, I removed a star because of that issue with the bill. Everyone has a price range of what they’re looking to pay, they should have asked that instead of adding to our bill like that. I’m glad i tried this place out because we were told that a lot of the foods are cooked at Tickets as well, without us needing the months in advanced reservations.

Bodega 1900 was one of the restaurant highlights of my vacation in Barcelona. It was so nice I went twice! This is another creation of the Adrià brothers of Tickets and El Bulli fame. I opted for the tasting menu on my first visit and navigated the menu on my own on my next. I enjoyed the tasting but the fist half was more of a giant charcuterie board, I really enjoyed the 2nd half of the meal best. The manager, Angel, was our server the first night, he was great at recommendations and had a great personality. On one of the evenings a waiter picker up a guitar and started playing it for the tables. Some people come here because they can’t get into Tickets, their sister restaurant across the street, in my opinion this place is equally as good, albeit a different style meal and it will not disappoint. It should be on your«must-try» list for Barcelona dining. Vermouth Cocktail — I would highly recommend getting this cocktail. they generally will offer it as it appears to be their house specialty. I never had one before and it was part of the reason I came here more than once. Fried Seaweed w/Rice Cream — Decent starter. It is really something nice just to nibble on as you warm up for more delicious tapas. If you have had seaweed before, evening sushi, then you will like them in this chip form Pork rinds and pickles — They were fine, tasted as expected. While good, I might pass on these. Tomato Salad — The highlight was the freshness and sweetness of the tomatoes, they came lightly salted in oil topped with some peas. Natural and molecular gastronomy olives — They taste just like olives it is the texture and presentation that is the most impressive aspect. The faux olive pops in your mouth. Parmesan and tomato crackers –These crackers, as expected, tasted like fresh parmesan. A little pricey but tasted awesome. Giant olives stuffed anchovies — I’m not a huge anchovy guy but still thought they were good. The pitted olives they were delivered in were massive Sea urchin and oysters — Just a raw bar tray, great presentation and tasty if you like this type of food. Smoked tuna and mackerel — It was just some really tasted sashimi, great tasting fish. I’ve never had raw mackerel before and I really enjoyed it. Beef cured in salt for 3 weeks — It tasted like some great roast beef Meat pie with ribs — These great little empanadas *Smoked salmon w/truffle honey — One of the best tasting tapas I had in all of my travels in Barcelona. The complex flavor profile was outstanding. Razor clams — I discovered I am not a big raw clam guy, but the milky broth that came with these was tasty and added some flavors I’ve seen in thai food Ham & cheese croquette — Common throughout the city but extremely well prepared here *Spicy Squid Mollete — Fried calamari in brioche with garlic aioli and a kimchi chipotle sauce. This was not only another highlight from the restaurant but a highlight of my trip. *Truffle Bikini — Another must try item. This is essentially a grilled cheese with black truffle and a very nice ham. If you are a truffle fan this is especially satisfying Grilled pineapple with molasses — Simple and palette cleansing dessert. Presentation was very nice Apple tart — Traditional and perfectly executed apple tart Chocolate cake — Just some chocolate mousse style cake and a chocolate ice cream. Not as inventive as other dishes but if you are a chocolate fan it definitely hits the spot
