3.5 stars After spending quite a long time down at barceloneta beach, we had worked up quite an appetite, but didn’t want to eat at any of the typical tourist trap seafood restaurants located immediately near the beach. We saw this tapas restaurant tucked around the corner and decided to check it out. The menu offers a menu del dia option for 9.9 euros but I didn’t care for any of the options on that menu so we just ordered a few tapas. We started with the salad with walnuts, cheese and raisins. Very light, fresh, great flavor. We also got the chicken skewer served a top of asparagus. Also very tasty. The only bad part of the experience came at the end of the meal when the server took forever(and ever and ever and ever) to check in or bring us the check. I had to get up, not once but two times, to look for that and ask for the check. A bit ridiculous in American service expectations. But alas this is Spain and everything moves a bit slower here. Great place overall. Especially being so close to the beach

Great! Very tasty tappas(try the cod and the tuna with almonds), very good paella, dry wine, nice waiters in a rather touristic area.

When you’re strolling down Passeig Juan de Borbo, keep passing all these overpriced seafood restaurants. Cellar de tapas maybe a chain, but gives you bang for your buck(or Euro, actually). They have a 3 course set menu or menu del dia priced at 9.99 euros per person. It’s almost a crime to charge such a cheap price since a glass of wine and tip is already included! I had gazpacho(chilled tomato based soup), seafood paella and crema catalan(similar to a flan). Portions were just right and even at a casual eatery like this, the food is pretty good. We ordered anchovies and olives, braised octopus and patatas bravas to supplement our meal. The whole meal came to only 30 euros!
