El pasado día 30 quedamos para comer seis grandes amigos junto con mi querida mujer. Una comida de camaradas, una comida de hermanos. El sitio elegido, después de más de una semana barajando diversas opciones fue el restaurante Chéri. El mismo pertenece al grupo Cacheiro.
Previamente quedamos para hacer unas copas de cava en un bar que se encuentra a escasos metros del restaurante. Quitando su excelente ubicación no veo nada a destacar.
A las 14h nos presentamos en el restaurante. Con reserva previa. Decorado de manera brillante por Lázaro Rosa Violán. Es indudable la clase, la elegancia y la maestría con el que Lázaro y su equipo decoran los restaurantes, ahora bien, al acaparar tanto mercado empiezan haber muchos restaurantes iguales y esto resta personalidad a los mismos. Aunque llena la cartera de Lázaro. En cualquier caso, insisto, decorado de manera muy elegante y afrancesada, vamos, un auténtico bistró. Dispone de una fabulosa terraza que en verano puede ser una de las triunfadoras de Barcelona.
Sugiero a los comensales pedir unas cervezas reglamentarias para poder observar su extensa carta con detenimiento. La cebada nos aportará la paciencia y el criterio que el estómago suele arrebatar. El sugerimiento es seguido por todos.
Carta de corte clásico. Aperitivos varios, apartado de crudos, arroces, pescados y carnes. La carta no pasará a la historia por su originalidad. Es notorio que han aparcado las dañinas pretensiones culinarias y también las estridencias. Lo que en muchas ocasiones es un acierto.
Reseñaré sólo los entrantes y el plato que quien escribe estas líneas pidió. No estoy en disposición de comentar el resto, a pesar de que alguno probé, no es suficiente para hacer una crítica justa.
La comida transcurrió por los siguientes derroteros:
Croquetas de jamón ibérico. Correctas. Falto de sabor e intensidad y también de mejorable textura.
Canelón de atún. Notable. De atún rojo. El mismo atún hacia las veces de pasta y relleno en forma de tártar. Aliñado con mayonesa de soja china y acompañado por ajoblanco, aguacate, y algo que no logro recordar, pero si que su sabor se imponía sobre el resto. En cualquier caso, lo dicho, notable.
Anchoas del cantábrico. Buen filete. Algo pequeño pero muy bueno
Steak Tartar. Pobre. Mediocre Steak. Falto de sabor y de frescura. La carne mal cortada, es más creo que no estaba cortada a cuchillo.
Cono de calamar rebozado. Buenos, sin más.
Estos platos sirvieron a modo de entrante. Un servidor compartió con otro comensal lo siguiente:
Entraña de Black Angus a la brasa. Muy buena y sabrosa. Una grata sorpresa, un buen plato. Acompañado por unas patatas y unas verduras.
Arroz seco de sepia y alcachofa. La sepia y la alcofa brillaban por su ausencia. Pero el arroz estaba increíble. Perfecta cocción y de excelente sabor. Grata sorpresa.
Pan recién salido del horno. Muy bueno.
Pedimos dos postres. Tiramisú y tarta de queso.
Siete copas de pacharán Baines Etiqueta Oro
Bañado todo por tres botellas de Fincas Resalso Emilio Moro. Este vino no falla nunca. Y una botella de blanco Menganito, un rueda ligero y suave. Un clásico.
Precio siete personas: 345 euros.
Restaurante interesante. Bajo un bello envoltorio se esconde una cocina sencilla, correcta, con algunos platos mejor que otros, de corte mediterráneo y práctica. Servicio, correcto, hacen su trabajo de manera robótica, pero eficaz. Carta de vinos interesante a precios muy inflados. Los precios de la carta son mas que correctos y la misma es muy variada. Un restaurante para pasar un agradable rato, para reunir a los amigos o la familia en un buen entorno, pero no para experiencias culinarias. No te hace llorar por dentro de felicidad. Volveré? No veo motivos para no hacerlo, no me enamoró, es cierto, sin embargo en el conjunto y teniendo en cuenta el entorno y la comida salí contento y satisfecho. En verano volveré a su terraza.
Entre risas nos fuimos a tomar un digestivo a la terraza del Cocomo situado también en Enrique Granados.
Señoras y señores, por ubicación, entorno y una correcta comida, vayan al Chéri, si van sabiendo lo que ofrece, disfrutarán.

While visiting Barcelona I cannot miss my one of my favorite cafes called Cheri. I normally stay in a hotel only 30 meters from here, Hotel Astoria. It is the perfect location for my needs.
Today I started with the pan con tomate, anchovies, Jamon croquetes, potates de Cheri and English tea. The tea was for a change since I have been enjoying too many coffees.
Make a stop here when you are in the barrio and you will not be disappointed.

The food was amazing both of the times I went there. However, the second time was a bit disappointing because they took a very long time to serve all of our courses. In spite of the fact that the restaurant was very busy and it was under-​staffed all the bartenders were very nice and helpful.

Lobster rice was amazing !! I should’ve taken a picture but it was gone in 60 seconds. Service was A+

Muy bonito y todo eso, interiorismo de los ya omnipresentes Lázaro-​Rosa Violán, espacios amplios, terrazón de aúpa y barrio de gente bien. Comida irregular, aunque correcta, muy clásica, con títulos de plato muy rimbombantes y claramente afrancesada (excesivo uso de mantequillas y salsas cargantes para mi gusto). El picantón bien, escalivada bien, pero bravas con allioli industrial. Precios elevadísimos para la calidad y elaboración ofrecida. Ni con el 40% de descuento de la oferta de una conocida web de reservas online creo que valga la pena. Ah, y lo de cobrar 4,50 € por una botella de agua es ya un escándalo de proporciones bíblicas. Me parece que necesita mejorar (y mucho) para que la cocina esté a la altura de su coqueto diseño.

Excellent food and service. Didn’t order any of the entrees for lunch as I didn’t feel like eating a lot. Had the anchovy and the cod croquette to start with followed by esqueixada which was excellent. The bread was also very good. Ended with chocolate beignets which came with a delectable scoop of ice cream. Couldn’t figure out the flavor but it was very, very good. Ordered dessert with café cortado which was excellent. Service was outstanding. Patio seating hard to beat.

Three is a generous rating for this restaurant but there’s no half stars so we’ll go with this. There seems to be a bit of a disconnect between the kitchen and the front staff, because while the food is amazing the staff is subpar. We were waiting for a solid five minutes for someone to come to the welcome stand and seat us, and when a waitress did come she was quite snotty and rude to us. We ordered nine oysters and the black truffle omelette to start, the oysters were fresh and came with a simple vinaigrette and the omelette was light and fluffy. The waitress took her time helping his and just overall seemed displeased whenever she had to talk to us. Our entrees were both amazing and horrible. Two people did not like their orders of sea food paella and suckling lambs, the lamb was bony and bland. The seafood paella just tasted like seawater, really briny and disappointing. However, the three of us that really liked their orders got the whole chicken with potatoes at gratin, Angus ribs with potato purée, and veal cheeks and veggies, all highly recommended! We were disappointed by the service since we were the only people in the restaurant for our whole experience, and the way we were treated since we try to be nice guests and not obnoxious tourists. However, the meat dishes and appetizers were delectable. I would recommend drinks and the fresh oysters here since the restaurant is beautiful and cool.

Very pleasant experience for lunch on Cheri’s exquisite terrace on the charming paseo of Enrique Granados. The strawberry gazpacho was the best! And don’t forget dessert! Ours was textures of chocolate with almonds… the perfect finish. Service was impeccable.

No tengo nada de quejar de este restaurant. No doy 5 estrellas solo porque la decoración del local no me entusiasmó. El nombre, decoración te hacen pensar que es un bistro francés pero la carta es mediterranea (nos encantó la variedad ofrecida).
Todo lo pedido fue riquisimo, con un servicio eficiente y amable. Precios normales para Barcelona centro, alrededor de unos 30E por persona con 2 platos. Pedimos la escalivada, huevos estrellados, tataki de atún y la hamburguesa de solomillo. Muy rico todo! Volveré seguro!

Service A+ Food quality A Price vs value A+ Ambience & Design A+ so in short well worth a visit. To be fair the food choices are diverse and plentiful and close to A+ and it was quiet so no issues with pace of service. This is a very nice space with decent prices and a very good execution of the three dishes we tried. Top marks all around. Would return (may return).

no, no, no — unless we totally caught an off night then I would say save yourself a LOT of money and go somewhere else. YES — the room is beautiful and the outdoor seating is nice but the service, while very friendly, was extremely slow and almost impossible to get their attention (adverted eyes). Most of the food was NOT good. Two of the three «artisanal» sausage were inedible and I can eat just about anything. The steak tartar was mediocre at best (I have had at least 10 better tartars than this). The cheese plate was pedestrian and uninspired. The other dishes aren’t worth mentioning. I generally do not write poor reviews unless I think «Joe Public» should have a «heads up» especially when our bill topped out over $ 100 Euro for what amounted to 5 tapas, a couple of beers and a glass of wine. We have had meals 20X better for a third of price in Gracia/​Barcelona.

After having a very pleasant lunch as a Welcome to BCN we came back to have a late dinner after an exhausting day of sightseeing and museum hopping. Even better experience! Highly recommended! Special place, excellent service and delicious food — what is there not to like? Say hi to Idoia — co– owner, Gerard and the very friendly staff.

Stopped her for tapas while our day of touring Barcelona. What a wonderful spot. Although they did not have a menu in English the servers were happy to help translate and help us with our order. The food was outstanding as well as the service. Really nice atmosphere and outside dining. If you are looking for something off the «tourist» area this is a nice place to stop and have a rest.
