What could possibly be better than a local family-run food shop that offers anything/everything you need? The people here are so very friendly and helpful. Also, being able to get your own bottles filled with Catalan made wine from casks, and freshly made bread, along with all the other typical grocery store items, makes DeTot my favorite.

The prices mirror the location which is in the middle of one of the most touristic areas in the city (rent). So for those bitching about $$, you can take a hike to the next large supermarket which is about 15 minutes away on foot. For those living in the real world
this is not a bad market at all. Good cheese selection, many wines in the back. Dairy products, even soy sauce. They constantly bake their own fresh bread in the back. So you can grab a warm loaf at nearly any time of the day. Take that misers! Better than all the South Asian run places throughout the city which offer low quality crap food.

This is the largest market I could find that is open on a Sunday in Barcelona. Prices are higher than the Carrefour on Ramblas, but when you are in a bind on a Sunday… this is a great place to go.
Make sure to also check out the cool wine cellar while you are there.

Some products are a little expensive, but not too much. Cute little store that has the basic necessities for on the go tourists staying in the area. I like that I can get off the wall products from back in the USA (sodas like Dr. Pepper, cereals, etc). I don’t live nearby, but when I’m in the area I go in to stock up on random stuff.

De tot al Born es un supermercado muy pequeño que tiene lo básico e indispensable para poder sobrevivir.
A pesar de que los precios son más elevados que en el Condis o Mercadona, a veces compensa poder comprar aquí por las facilidades que te da.
Está abierto todos los días hasta las 11 de la noche, por lo que si a las 9 no tienes nada en la nevera siempre puedes hacer una escapada y comprar unas pizzas precalentadas.
Tiene un servicio de panadería, por lo que si tienes suerte es muy posible que te lleves una barra de pan calentita.

Barrel wine. 0,94. nuff said.
well, more can be said… my friend lives around the corner from here — and before we head out to the park or inside to just talk, we pop in here to stock up.
down in the cellar, they have bottles of wine… but upstairs, they have these big barrels on tap. what my friend does is he keeps a couple of empty wine-sized bottles with a flip lid that you get at the chinese shop — in the freezer — and when he wants some wine, he goes down, has them refill the bottle. for less than a Euro. It was decent white wine. nothing earth shattering — but pleasant for an afternoon picnic in the park.
it’s a cute little neighborhood convenience store — bigger than a 7 – 11, but smaller than a caprabo. with a decent variety.

I affectionately refer to this place as «my refrigerator.» It reminds me of the little grocery below my town house apartment in NYC. When everything is closed (meaning Condis which doesn’t open until 9AM, closes for siesta at 2−4PM and for the evening at 9PM), I have a place to get eggs and cheese or our ubiquitous frozen cheese pizzas with some fresh veggies to put on them, too.
I often grab last minute pic-nick items for the park on my way. It’s quite convenient. Probably a few cents per item more expensive than Condis, but worth it for the convenience.
If there is anything going on close by, it will have enormous lines, though. Usually tourists picking up eggs, cheese, bread, cava and a frozen pizza or two.

Hay algunos servicios de esta ciudad que me ha costado encontrar. Uno de ellos fue este minimercado. Ya llevaba un par de años viniendo a esta parte de la ciudad para comer o pasear, pero nunca me había fijado. Hasta que un día un amigo camarero de un local de comida rápida del sector, en donde había comprado algo para llevar, me recomendó que no comprara la bebida en su establecimiento ya que enfrente había un mercado en donde estaría más barato. Fue como un renacer. No podía creer que todo ese tiempo no haya aprovechado de la ventaja de contar con un lugar así. Y más teniendo en cuenta que por esta área no hay supermercados. Un gran descubrimiento.
