This place sure is fun. They serve basque pintxos, which are small snacks on bread, held together by a toothpick. You can pick and mix as much as you like, and afterwards the toothpicks are added up(2 Euros per piece) and you pay for that. The ones I had were quite good, however to properly fill you up will rip quite a hole in your pocket. So this place is more of a quick snack stop rather than a proper ‘meal restaurant’. Delicious though, no question.

I’m always forgetting the name of this place! Dang! I have no idea how to pronounce the name(help!).Seriously one of the most memorable parts about my visit to Barcelona. My sister heard of this place from her friend who studied abroad in Barcelona and recommended this tapas bar to us! Dumb comment: Okay, I’ll admit I had no idea what tapas were before I came her. I thought tapas were the same thing as Filipino tapa which is dried or cured beef lol. Oh well, you learn something new everyday. I was actually whining about coming here because I was lazy to walk to the Gothic Quarter all the way from Las Ramblas but I’m sure glad I did! It’s a trendy place where you just grab as many tapas as you want from the bar and you pay later, honor system. The tapas they served were mainly small sandwiches or bruschetta-style snacks along with croissants stuffed with meat. It was about 1.80 euro per tapa I believe. You MUST go there if you’re ever in Barcelona! It’s crowded with a mix of locals and tourists so you know this place is happening!

Quick review: I had an early lunch, late lunch and dinner during my time in BCN. Amazing place for a quick bite if you’re trying to make your way through the city. The quality of their ingredients will want you to try as many pinchos as possible. Favorite item: ham croquettes. Best I had in the city. Side note: just grab a plate and select the pinchos you want and they’ll tally them up at the end.

Einfach bedienen.Abgerechnet wird nach der Menge der Stäbchen! Die Qualität war auch hier gut. Ich persönlich mag die normalen Tapas lieber.

Stopped by this pinchos bar after a great flamenco show down the street. Pinchos are small bites usually on a slice of baguette. They are pre-made and you can just go up and put what you want on your plate. It was a little less than 2 euros per stick. Tried a few things but they all left much to desire. The pinchos were all cold. There were also not many tables so people were standing by bars. Another thing I didn’t like about this place is the service. I didn’t understand the concept of the restaurant beforehand(didn’t look it up on Unilocal) so upon entering, I asked for a table for 2. The woman behind the bar looked annoyed and me and said there were so many open tables and I could just sit at one. I felt like since she saw me walk in from the entrance and I look foreign, it’s appropriate to explain the restaurant concept. After sitting down I still didn’t know what was going on until finally the waiter came over to explain what was going on. The whole restaurant was very disorderly. This place is probably fine as a very quick and cheap stop for a snack but there are better places for a nice or good meal. After an unsatisfying experience, I went next door to Lonja, which had amazing tapas!

Fun, self-serve pintxos spot near the Picasso Museum! Like most of the restaurants on the street, Euskal Etxea Taberna was packed when we got here, but my family was luckily able to snag some seating. The staff was friendly and the food options were aplenty. Grab a plate and fill it up with pintxos! Take bites of other people’s and make your way up for round two. Don’t forget to save the toothpicks! Although the food wasn’t mind-blowing, we had a good time and were ready for our adventures around the Picasso Museum. Pro tip: The servers also bring around hot, fresh(and arguably yummier) pintxos that you can snag so don’t get too full off of the ones on the counter!

The Euskal Etxea Taberna is a pinxo bar and restaurant in Barcelona. It is a great place to have pinxos in the evening. The choice was large and the pinxos were delicious. The place was crowded and the staff was quite busy. It was a great experience. Enjoy

Very limited seating if you’re able to grab a table. Mostly tall tables where you have to stand and eat(so not a great spot if you’ve been walking/on your feet all day). There are a few tall stools if you’re able to snag some. This was the only pintxos bar that we went to while in Barcelona. Pintxos are small snacks typically eaten in bars. Each side of the corner where the pintxos are displayed is the same so no worries on fighting your way to the other side if you’re only able to get to one side of the corner. Price: 2 € per stick We loved the concept of pintxos as you can see the food and just grab it yourself. The food itself was decent but there wasn’t anything there that we all tried that we absolutely loved. The house sangria was fairly watery and tasted more like juice. The only time you really see a waiter is when they take your drink order & when you pay. They bill you by counting how many sticks you have on your plate so that’s why you don’t have your plates cleared away when you have a stack full. Fun experience but wouldn’t stay for the food or drink.

In Japan they have«Tabehoudai», all you can eat places. Euskal is similar, if you do the tapas you get to eat and pay by the sticks that you take. Interesting, saves the issue with the language when ordering tapas, but quite crowded. There are better places although for a large group might be excellent as you eat standing and there is no problem finding space.

Sad to see people complaining about eating here. Do your research on pintxos! To make it clear — pick what you want and save the toothpicks. That’s what you’re charged for at the end. We came here in the late afternoon and after researching pinxto places to eat at in Barcelona. This one comes highly recommended and it’s not hard to tell well. Well located and definitely packed in the evenings. In the early afternoon, not crowded at all. We got our pick of the menu and there is a guy who will walk around with warm croquettes to eat as well. Pinxtos are a little less than 2 euros each and along with cava, it’s a nice meal. Recommend to get your pinxto craving.

Poor service. For poor explanation on how you pay for your food here. You keep track of toothpicks for payment. This was not explained and when a toothpick was thrown away by our group not knowing its importance it was replaced by A USEDTOOTHPICKFROM A DIRTYPLATEPUTONOURPLATEOFFOOD. When this was pointed out they were very rude. Also I have a food allergy and when I asked to make sure the food I chose was for me was safe they were very rushed and made me feel as if I was bothering them. Avoid at all costs as there are a million better options in Barcelona. By the way, the food was only decent.

This place was great! Quick spot to stop for traditional yet modern Tapas. It was like € 1.90 per bite, which sounds cheap but it can get expensive for a full meal, so this is really a better spot for a snack or an extended appetizer. I know its all over Unilocal by now but it still felt like a locals’ favorite. Don’t stock up completely at the bar since they will be walking around with hot Tapas at times. There was seating in the back which was empty; there were some bar stools out but we preferred to stand at the wall-mounted bar.

1.80 for a pintxo I believe. I wasn’t convinced really by anything I ate here though it was recommended by locals. My palate was a little overcome with salt here, so that’s my overall impression of it. There is also no sitting space if you’re doing pintxos. Not really a good place to go to after a long day out on the city unless you’re eating at the restaurant portion of the place. It’s a straightforward place, though even getting a standing table to lean and eat your food can be a struggle when it gets crowded… to me it’s not worth fighting for though, so the hordes can have Euskal Etxea.

This place was highly recommended by a couple friends, so my husband and I decided to give it a try. We were in the mood for tapas. Unfortunately, we got confused as to how the tapas(called pintxos) worked so we sat at a table. Tapas is only served at the counter. We felt committed so we just ordered dinners. I ordered duck and he ordered lamb. It took him 3 tries to order something due to confusing info from the waiter. Frustrated, my husband settled on the lamb. After seeing his frustration, they gave us a different waiter. Our second waiter was very attentive and helpful. I really enjoyed my duck(I had also ordered potatoes in garlic but that portion of my order got lost in the waiter switch). My husband enjoyed his lamb in spite of his earlier frustrations. Overall I give this restaurant 3 stars. If we go another time while we are here I will be sure to get the pintxos.

Pretty straightforward and simple bar, with decent, not wonderful food. Bonus points for being right next to the Picasso Museum and self service, but don’t think you’re going to get blown away by the best tapas that Barcelona has to offer. Price per tapa is a slight overpriced by we’re talking centimos here, so it’s not all that big of a deal. If you’d rather a proper sit-down experience, walk a bit further into the plaza and go to Origens, which also features authentic organic Catalan small plates and local beer(i.e. Euskal does not– boooooo!).

How many times did i eat here over a period of 5 days? 2. Why? Because it is delicious. I wish the states had the concept of pinchos, it is so tasty and you can decide on whatever you want to and as much of it as you wanted. Contrary to other reviews, my lunch with a beer was less than 15 Euros. I love pinchos and this place gets crowded but is much better when you go at American eating times so like noon-ish. Nothing particular stood out, but remember Catalan etiquette when here: get a plate before taking your tooth pick foods and order a drink at the bar if you want one. Then pay at the bar. I want more pinchos in New York.

LOVE love love this place. The waiter was fantastic, he had me try the Basque wine, which was very good so I ordered more. Then you get your plate and pick a little appie, called a «pinch-o». They make them and keep filling dishes and you eat and pay by the number of toothpicks left in your plate. We tasted so many and all were divine, except that one anchovy one… how I missed seeing that little salty fish wrapped around the olive, I will never know!!! Needless to say, this was by far my favorite meal in Barcelona. My favorite was a crab one that looked like shredded crab meat… lots of seafood — another goodie was a crab something in a little tiny croissant… there are so many so make sure you arrive hungry!
