the price was right and the location is quite convenient — just a few blocks’ walk from stops on two Metro lines. it’s close to some attractions, but not right on top of them, so you get a break from the madness. there’s also some shopping and small restaurants in the area, which we couldn’t help but compare to Long Island City. the breakfast buffet was surprisingly good(7.5 Euro a person) and the service here was helpful and friendly. their English was great, and when I couldn’t figure out a phrase or two in Spanish(or attempt to cross-reference from Italian) they were quite understanding. the hotel was modern and clean, with a red/black theme(my two favorite colors), a free Internet café/printing area for guests, and an inexpensive bar serving both delicious coffee and booze. there’s even a small private outdoor eating/drinking terrace. alright, it’s between some buildings, but it’s outside! rooms were cozy but comfortable. the bed felt amazing to crash on, especially after all the stress and aggravation from our flights and lost luggage. the free wifi was reliable. my only minor annoyance was getting a lecture on environmentalism when I asked for a second set of towels — I know, green this, efficiency that, yada yada yada — but after spending a day and a half traveling and finding out our luggage took a detour due to British Airways’ incompetence, this was really the last thing my exasperated ears needed to hear. I would definitely recommend this Ibis for stays in Barcelona. including breakfast and taxes, it came to about 110 Euro total.

A bit minimalist but perfect for our pre-cruise stay in Barcelona, we had a positive experience at this Ibis. The room was extremely reasonable and the breakfast exceeded my expectations. The staff was quite helpful as we waited for our luggage to arrive.(Our bags apparently did not take the same connecting flight that we did.) The mattress on the bed was one of the best I have ever slept on. The hotel itself is situated in the Glories neighborhood which reminded me of LIC or Williamsburg – very up-and-coming with a fair amount to offer on its own but close to major tourist attractions, ie Las Ramblas, Placa de Catalunya, Sagrada Familia, etc. Overall, I was pleased.

We stayed here March 2012. My lady and I spent 5 nights there. We found the staff very friendly and helpful as most of them spoke English. The continental breakfast was excellent, loaded with fresh fruit and other healthy options. Seeing how we were going from sun-up to sundown it was nice that they had it and had it early(6 am weekdays and 6:30 am). As for the internet I agree with some of the other reviews, it would be nice if it were free, especially since we paid for 24 hours but only used it for an hour or so in the evening when we returned to our room… the rooms were nice and clean and the bed very comfortable, fresh towels every evening when we returned. As far as the reviewers that complained about the location, maybe they should have read the description a bit closer as it states that the hotel is in an industrial area of the city. That being said I didn’t mind the location at all, aside from a slight aroma that we never did figure out where it came from, the neighborhood wasn’t that bad. Close to the mall with a huge grocery store(they don’t have a restaurant at the Hotel and let us know that up front so rather than complain about the hotels food we just grabbed snacks on the way back in the evenings) and it was 5 minutes from both the Red and Yellow Metro lines… as for the reviewer that complained about being ripped off by the cab ride to the airport, our driver was there at 3:30am the morning we left and though he spoke very little English got us there strait away and for less than we had anticipated. As far as I’m concerned I would stay there again should we ever go back… GREATJOB Ibis!!!

Staid in this IBIS for a long weekend(Fri-Sun) mid-May. It seems the hotel is brand new and everything is still shinning. Price of the rooms was not expensive for the hotel quality. IBIS hotels are a good budget hotel with things that even hotels with higher star-category don’t have, for example free WIFI(even though speed is limited to 256kb), you can also pay for faster wifi but I found that the free option was more than enough for my needs. Breakfast is a normal continental breakfast with breads, croissants, juice, pancakes, coffee etc… I believe the breakfast was 3,75 € per person(totally worth it). Only problem of the hotel is it’s a bit far from city center(Plaza Catalunia), taxi will cost you about 10 euros each way so if you are 4 people it’s worth it vs. subway/bus. Another option for the healthy and fit ones is to rent a bicycle close by and just cycle away :) Barcelona is a very friendly city with bicycles, don’t be afraid. Overall if I return to Barcelona I will probably stay here again.
