Free bread, free olives, decent sized portions, what more could you ask for in Eixample? Diagonally across from one of the larger tapas joints with notoriously long waits. Helpful staff with passable English, explained the difference between similar dishes. The seafood pasta was generous with mussels and clams, but contained only one fat prawn.

As an Italian living in Barcelona, I come to «Il Massone» whenever I feel homesick and need some comfort food. The place is cozier than your grandmother’s living room and the waiters are lovely and efficient. I eat here on a weekly basis. Pizza is very good, respecting the Italian standards and prepared with high quality ingredients. A must try is «Pizza Bufalotta,» a pizza in which a sizable amount of juicy mozzarella di bufala pleases the senses. Another favorite of mine is «Spaghetti alle Vongole.» Pasta with fresh mussels, cherry tomatoes and a sprinkling of parsley to finish things up. The price is fair and the fast service deserves an healthy tip. Fellow Italians and food lovers, pay a visit to «Il Massone.»

Italian in Barcelona? Absolutely, and pretty damn good, too! Like a lot of other fellow travelers, you sometimes need a break from tapas. .. Il Massone was a perfect break. Salads were plentiful and the greens fresh – worth getting. We split the spaghetti carbonarra which had buttery pasta and a light, but tasty cream sauce that didn’t overtake the dish – superb. Next came the pizza which spent about 20 seconds in the open between the oven and our table: thin crust that was just the right amount of crispy and chewy, and the onions, peppers, salami and olives were excellent additions. Lastly, tiramisu rounded out a really tasty dinner – light and creamy – really good! Round out the meal w/excellent/friendly service from our Italian hostess/owner, and I readily offer up 5-stars! Cheers! RS

Not what I’d call a pizzeria but a charming, inexpensive restaurant with delicious food and great service. If you’re lucky, you can see the pizza being flipped in authentic style. This would be a great place to bring kids!

LOVED this restaurant! The staff is SUPER friendly and great service. The owners/staff are from Napoli. I had the spaghetti pomodoro and my husband had the tagliatelle dish. We each had a glass of wine and limoncello, after our meal. After paying the bill, our server brought us another round of limoncello on the house. By far the best service we got in Spain! Highly recommend this hidden gem.

Wonderful Italian food in a relaxed atmosphere. The chef was attentive and insisted we have the seafood pasta, which was wonderful. It was a great break from tapas

We wandered upon this unassuming Italian restaurant and were treates to a great dinner. Il Massone is a low key Italian restaurant with very reasonable prices. Food and service was very good. We had the carpaccio, insalata variata, margarita pizza, and spaghetti carbonara all of which was delicious. I also love the quaint cozy feel of this place. When we first arrived, friends of the chef arrived with a guitar. They jammed for a few min before sitting down for a meal. Love it!

Very close to a grouping of hotels, and only a couple blocks from one of Gaudi’s masterpieces, the pizza is great. Let me add, I hate thin crust pizza. I don’t know why people love it so much. It’s, in general, too crunchy, easily burns, has no flavor, and is messy with crumbs and flakes going everywhere. I’ve just never enjoyed it. Il Massone’s pizza is pretty thin. But it’s not overly messy, nor is it soggy, nor is it too crunchy. It holds up, it’s flavorful, and their selection was varied. We only had a pizza, but one of our neighbors had some starters and enjoyed them as much as their pizza. The drinks were cold, the staff was super friendly(not cloying at all, just really pleasant people), and they brought delicious oil and vinegar for the table. Their sign is small, so you have to keep an eye out for it, but it’s definitely worth a stop.
