Wow. I felt like royalty. Marvelous service, wonderful wine, and divine dishes. If you enjoy fine dining, you will enjoy Monvinic. Just be sure and make a reservation in advance. The first night we tried they were booked solid so we simply had some wine while studying the ipad of the pages upon pages of selections by the bottle or by the glass. And of course their wine inventory varies each day and is updated accordingly. A wonderful, memorable evening.

We got to eat at the chefs table in the back right next to the kitchen so it was a really nice experience being able to see the whole process. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the food was very good. We all ordered the classic tasting menu which was around 60 € I believe or maybe 45 €(sorry I can’t remember!) and the chefs chose what to feed us. I loved the first dish which was a shrimp carpaccio. It was my favorite dish of the night. I was a little disappointed with one of the dishes that reminded me of Chinese takeaway but my boyfriend loved it. overall it was all tasty. We decided to let the sommelier bring us a half-full glass of wine to pair with each dish which made the experience even more fun. We probably tried around 10 glasses. I would definitely come here again!

We had a phenomenal experience here. The general manager took care of us and we let her recommend all of our wines and food. It was more of an accommodation, as they were booked that night, so we ended up in the bar. I would recommend sampling many of the appetizers and a couple of entrée’s so you can experience many of their delicacies. I would also let them know what your wine preferences are and experiment, by the glass, their recommendations.

Mind blown with the wine. I asked them to recommend a Spanish wine and said something like«when in Spain.» The sommelier kindly pointed out that if I wanted to be true to the region then I should actually get a Catalonian wine. I agreed and he gave us the most fantastic Prioriat. Fell in love with the style. The food was also very good, though two weeks later I’m having a hard time remembering exactly what we had beyond the lamb. But I remember enjoying it while we were eating.

Good wine no doubt. But they served me, after a long«I have celiac» discussion, a salad with croutons which I ate or of. A good restaurant should not make that mistake; they offered no break. And the service was slow. #foodfail

As a regular at Monvinic, I have good and bad things to say about this place … Good Aspects: Monvinic’s environment Is fashioned, elegant and well designed, so it really fits the type of ambience I’m looking in a specialised Wine tasting place. Bad Aspects: Monvinic’s is currently facing some issues with their«customer service». In the beginning the waiters were very enthusiastic and friendly, providing immediate assistance as soon as you arrive, unfortunately lately these qualities are becoming a rarity and the last time I’ve visit it it took them 20 min just to bring me the Wine menu. Bottom Line: It’s a nice place to visit but they need to improve«urgently» their service.

Precio alrededor 50 €/pax

I couldn’t understand giving less than five stars for this one. Six out of five would be even better, since the quality, service and the whole experience is otherworldly, and I don’t know if my words will make it the justice it deserves. But let me try at least. The first time I tried Monvinic was a few years ago thanks to a friend that is a somelier(he knows a lot about wine!!). Since I’m quite into wine myself, I decided to give it a try. We developed a formula there: since there you will find a lot of different wines, I asked the waiter if he could possibly guide us through the experience. He agreed happily, and proceeded to bring over glasses of wines that he personally considered great choices. I was BLOWNAWAY: it was like a menu but with wine. We opened the night with some great cava, to continue with a few glasses of different types of white wine. I remember some germans, some from New Zeland, and every one was presented by the waiter with a well exposed explanation on how it is made, where, what the conditions are in those places that make the wine taste as it does. It was as if getting the enhanced experience: you could travel the world and feel different places in your mouth, all with a detailed explanation. After the white wine comes the red wine, and along with the desert you can try some«Jerez» wines(sweet wines from south Spain), or this red jewel that I tried yesterday that tasted like berries poured into my glass, I was just delighted and moved. But you can also try some«tapas», delicate little dishes with all sorts of imaginative food in intrincate compositions. It was really amazing, you can see the pictures that we took last night: all sorts of catalan products that are delivered by well selected producers. The mushrooms were delicious, the fish tartar was astonishingly good. This is a place where I go at least once a year, this place will charge more than a normal restaurant, but your mouth will be having the day of its life that day. I spent around 100 € for two people, and I consider it cheap for what we got. Honestly: you can’t miss this place if you like wine!

Recommended by our local guide because we are knowledgeable wine enthusiasts from California. The wine list was limited & over priced(even by typical restaurant 2x markup). Considering that this was billed as «one of the 5 best wine bars in the world,» we were not impressed. Food is pretentious(good, but over-promoted). Service was indifferent(three waiters, no service). Felt as if we were left to our own devices. Young & hip crowd came to see and be seen. Pad computers(pre-iPad intel products) were all show but no go … sexy on the outside, but mask the fact that the wine inventory is really really shallow. You will be happier if you don’t spend time or money here for the food or the wine; there are many other great values for food and wine here in Barcelona.

Man muss«Monvinic» schon gezielt ansteuern.

Sense sabor?

Great service from a passionate team who will happily take you through the extensive wine list, make suggestions of what to eat and also send you home with a list of places to visit while in Barcelona. This was my first stop when I arrived and based on their recommendations I discovered so many more great food and wine spots in Barcelona that I would have missed otherwise. Stop in for a glass of cava before a night out, a cheese platter and wine flight after a dinner, or come and spend the entire evening eating dinner here. The bar area is great for solo diners.

3.5 stars. I am torn about this place. The things that they do well, they do very, very well. I don’t think that I’ve ever had a better service experience. The food presentation was amazing; the wine was out of this world. We felt completely spoiled. But they got one thing very wrong: the food. Our dinner was expensive and bland. I’ll definitely be back, often, but I won’t ever have another full meal there until something changes. If you want wine and snacks, this place is perfect. It’s beyond perfect, it’s mind-blowingly good. Wine and snacks is what we had the first visit. We were visiting with some colleagues. Our server put together an impromptu wine tasting(white Spanish wines) and there were a few small snacks(a cheese plate perhaps)? Monvinic excels at this; the staff is very knowledgeable about the wine, as well as friendly. Our server told us that about 75 wines are available by the glass(more than 3000 in the cellar) and these bottles are constantly changing. Our server was even willing to open some new bottles up so that we could try things. After this first visit, I spent a long time trying to find the place again. I hadn’t taken note of the name, or where it was. Luckily I happened upon it wondering around Barcelona. Second visit, we took my wife’s boss out with her partner for lunch. They were visiting us from Canada. The lunch went very well, the service was up to the standard that you would expect at a fancy restaurant. The décor was modern and comfortable. The staff were still super-friendly and helpful. For example, we didn’t warn them that my wife was a vegetarian but they took it completely in stride and were able to make wonderful substitutions on the fly without any hassle whatsoever. Also, the sommelier chose a perfect wine(a 2009 Montsant, Brunus). To eat, I had a pumpkin stuffed with duck. We also shared some croquettes, a salad, and a mushroom starter. All were beautifully presented but very, very bland. The mushrooms were undercooked, the duck seemed to be unseasoned. Each starter was around 20 euros and was disappointing. Mains were 40 euros each or so and left a lot to be desired. At this price, even at half the price they should be doing much, much better. Perhaps the goal is to avoid having the food dominate the wine? Either way, don’t eat here, or only eat cheese. Come here for wine and a small snack and you will be very, very happy. Or, come here with people who don’t care about food, assuming you can afford it, they will be very impressed.

Brilliant! Beautiful! Innovative! Delicious! A wonderful wine list(both by the glass and by the bottle) to accompany the innovative and delicious cuisine. One of the best restaurants we have been to in Barcelona. A bit on the pricey side but lovely for a special occasion, or just a very nice three hour lunch.

Very special place to enjoy wine. The design is modern and sophisticated. However, it’s the glassed in reference library that is the star for me. Service is friendly and attentive. They have a digital menu so you can peruse the many selections. I think that the wine descriptions could be more thorough. However, the servers can always help. Was nice to finally have some Pinot Noirs from the New World — it had been awhile:) Món Vínic also offers tasting, classes and conferences. It’s a great way to improve your español i català. Recommended.

Celebrated a special birthday here tonight, the service was outstanding, the selected wines were perfect, the food was delicious. The chef came out to greet us after our dinner and our waiter Antonio was a delight. One of our best meals in Barcelona. Don’t miss the Royal Style Hare if it’s on the menu.

I was lucky enough to be invited to dine at Monvinic by a friend who is a close friend of the owner. I was very excited for the experience after hearing so many great things about it. The owners are serious wine lovers who wanted to create a modern restaurant that centered more on wine than the food. At the bar/library area, you can choose a wine and then they serve food pairings(not the other way around). The restaurant décor is beautiful; modern and artsy, with lots of nice touches and a bit of glamour. The service is kind and friendly, they genuinely seem interested in making your time in their restaurant a pleasant and enjoyable experience. The wine list is incredible and one of the best in the city. As mentioned before, Monvinic is noted for their wine selection and the sleek iPad menu only adds to the impressive presentation. In fact, after dinner we were invited into their private cellars as the somelier explained a bit about some of their top wines, and which are the most coveted, etc. The food was delicious, with exquisite presentation. I just feel that sometimes Monvinic wants to be a celebrated 5-star restaurant, but it just falls short in some of the details — some of suggested wine pairings could be improved upon(though this depends on waiter to waiter) and the wait staff could improve a pinch(this review may be becoming a bit snobby, but I feel with such an impressive wine list and an obvious care for the top cuisine they offer, these missing details were glaring) — for example, wait until all dishes are prepared before serving, serve all seated at the same time, etc. Details that you find at those 5-star restaurants. Anyways, criticisms aside, Monvinic is a great(though pricey) option for dining out with friends and family. If you’re not ready to fork over the money, you can also just sip a glass or two in their front wine library with a couple tapas. I did this a couple times with a girlfriend and it was a great way to taste some luxurious wines without feeling too guilty about the price tag. If you really want to save(or, if the restaurant/bar is full), you can head next door to their modern take on the fast-food restaurant — FastVinic. You can order sandwiches and tapas and can say how much you want to spend on wine(for example, 25 euros), and they give you a ticket voucher for that amount and you can drink and taste different wines until you use up your voucher.

Restaurants like these make me proud to be from Barcelona. I visited Monvinic last year and know it has been faring well, so things may have changed slightly since then, but I imagine that only for the better. The infamous wine list is, as the top chef at El Bulli has mentioned, not to be missed. Even if you’re not an expert, choosing wines at Monvinic is easy and, yes, even fun! They have an iPad(I know!) on which all wines are organized in a consciously user-friendly manner… you can search for wines with any sort of filter imaginable(place of origin, price, etcetera) and they have a wide range of choices, so that there’s bound to be something for every taste and budget. Definitely lives up – if not exceeds — its reputation in terms of wine selection. Another equally memorable feature of Monvinic is the set-up. They take modern to a different extreme, but in a subtle way that makes it homey and logical, so that there are none of those space-age alien new wave vibes. The bathroom is located behind fancy sliding doors and the tables are long, white, and made of some magical element that is apparently seamless(seriously, I bet you to find a single seam) and insanely durable. The dining room is spacious and simply decorated with some light«zen» wood, a lot of glass and reflective surfaces, and large windows that let in a lot of light, so it’s very refreshing and soothing. On one of the walls, the menu of post-modern minimalist dishes is video-projected in several rotating languages, and the food(which by that stage is highly promising) does not disappoint, despite consisting of relatively light portions.(Surprisingly, it’s not overpriced, either.) Also video-projected is an image report of the origins of their food products and the artisan families whence they’re sourced(we’re talking meat products, cheeses, vegetables, oils, you name it), with each of whom Monvinic has a direct relationship… a pretty neat way to support the local farmers, give them credit, and make people conscious of where their food is coming from. Definitely something I’d never seen before and which is, in itself, a reason to love Monvinic. To put the cherry on the cake, the service is top-notch and well-versed in several languages, so they can recite and deconstruct the menu for you in pretty much every major language. We went during lunch on a weekday when there were only a handful of other people, but I imagine they are always pretty attentive and the servers seemed genuinely interested in tending to our needs and tastes. Interestingly, it looked like they have a sort of professional space in the back and outside designed to accommodate meetings and business get-togethers/luncheons, etcetera, though I’m sure as they get more popular in the culinary world this function may diminish. In brief, it’s all about the experience at Monvinic… the attention to detail, the thoughtful process of bringing food to the table, and the unassuming honesty with which it’s all executed. It makes for a lovely memory.

Irresistible.
