Totalmente inaceptable!

First, the level of service — even for Barcelona’s standards — is much to be desired. The waitress was kind, but it took over 45 minutes for a simple salad to be served. We also ordered a short rib, which was tasty, but it took close to 50 minutes to be ready. And a 300 gr(probably with the bones) for around 15 – 16 euros doesn’t offer much value for money. There are way better options and much more value for money spots in Barcelona for these prices.

Excellent food and warm and friendly staff. We had a pair of filets and a pair of ribeyes. All of them were very tasty.

Just had an amazing dinner here! Fast, friendly service. The food is abundant and delicious. Definitely try the traditional ham and cheese Argentinian pastry. The salads were very large and very fresh. No skimpiness here. The steaks are huge, flavorful, and oh, so tender! My husband’s steak was cooked to perfection, just how he wanted it. I like mine very, very well done. When it came it was a little too rare for my taste. When I asked that they cook it a bit more, the request was graciously accepted and taken care of. The steak came back wonderful. And the staff checked several times to be sure it was to my liking. This was my favorite dinner in Barcelona. I highly recommend this restaurant — particularly to Americans who are just a little tired of tapas.

Buena carne, buenos postres y buen precio. ¿Lo mejor? Menús de mediodía para aquellos a quienes restaurante argentino es sinónimo de pesadez. Porque siempre apetece.

Very disappointing. Arrived at the restaurant for our reservation to find it was closed. The owner was nice enough to hurry over and open it, but the food was disappointing.

Superb Argentinian meat paired with a lovely bottle of red wine. I can recommend the tenderloin with the peppersauce. However, the side dished were sub-par. Regarding the service I have nothing to complain about and nothing to highlight. The decore of the resturant is a mix of Texas Longhorn and a spanish bar. Will come back again!

So we dined here on July 19th, 2015. To be honest, I’m still unsure if where we dined is the same restaurant that everyone else has reviewed. We ended up at the address that Unilocal lists, and there is an restaurant with just the name«Alfonsina» on the outside and on their menu. We walked in and I kept comparing the Unilocal pics with the surroundings and while structurally, they matched up, there were notable differences — e.g., no tile floors /instead wood floors, and brick walls, but fully bricked, instead of the part-brick/part-stucco that’s in one of the pics. But like the reviews say, there’s a teeny-tiny bar area when you first walk in, but opens up to a nice-sized restaurant at the back. So we stood around looking like confused idiots and finally asked if this was an Argentinean steakhouse and when the hostess replied«Ci», we just decided to go with it. We are 99.99% sure this restaurant changed ownership recently. They are still an Argentinean steakhouse, but the website that’s linked in Unilocal is not accurate and does not belong to the Alfonsina we ate at(which is probably why I didn’t receive an email or text confirmation when I made a reservation online…) — So finally, on to the review! The menu seems to be VERY similar to what was offered before. We had the pleasure of being waited on by(I believe) the owner, and while he spoke little English, we managed well — He was a true and complete delight! He even warned us when he felt like we were ordering too much food, which he would have been spot-on about. Unlike the old restaurant, this one does not serve pasta, but they have a grilled veggie started that’s HUGE and DELICIOUS, so I ordered this — Comes with grilled eggplant, sweet potato, zucchini, asparagus, and a couple of baby potatoes. The hubby ordered the rib eye, medium-rare. We also partook in a lovely bottle of Malbec. You will receive complimentary rolls and chimichurri sauce. The chimichurri sauce is to die for good, and combine it with the soft, dinner rolls(a very nice break from all the hard breads) — You will be in heaven. Hubby reports his ribeye was extremely good(he ate all of it, which is rare) — and stated while the the meat was more 4-star worthy, the service we received makes it a 5-star experience. We also ended up ordering the tiramisu — While it was tasty, I think it was a store-bought brand that had been de-thawed a bit too much — the bottom layer was soaked with water. So while this may not be the Argentinean steakhouse of previous reviews, you should absolutely make it a point to check it out! And if you’re worried about a vegetarian dining companion, don’t be — Their grilled veggie plate will leave them stuffed and smiling.

The food was fantastic. The reason I gave 4 out of 5 was because of the service. Our waitress was great. The other waiter was very rude and dirty. He had a very bad attitude towards us for some reason. Throughout the meal I saw him sneeze into his hands, pick his nose, and run his fingers through his hair multiple times. And never once washed his hands. Gross. Besides that the filet was fantastic and the sangria was very good.

On our way from Madrid to Barcelona on the Renfe, we overheard some business men talking about their favorite Argentinian steakhouse in Barcekonaand our mouths started watering immediately! When we arrived at our hotel, we asked about booking a reservation at an Argentinian steakhouse and our concierge assured us it was probably the Patagonia near Plaza Cantalyna(I am assuming some sort of reference arrangement between the two establishments). After he booked us a reservation, we looked it up on Unilocal and weren’t impressed by the reviews or pictures so we did our own Unilocal search and found Parrilla Alfonsina and decided to go there instead — and we were not disappointed! As San Francisco, CA foodies, we were blown away by everything we had!!! Everything from the dinner roll, to the Argentinian sauce, to the rib eye, to the filet mignon, to the cheesecake dessert — all were phenomenal! The portion sizes were quite large too so we found it to be a good value for our money! Our service was great and our waitress gave us some very honest and candid feedback about what dishes she recommended. She was spot on with every recommendation! Hope to come back every time I’m in Barcelona!!!

Super amazing restaurant that we found. Don’t come here expecting a cheap meal because it won’t happen. However it is well worth the price and the food is absolutely amazing. The owner is out working the tables and is a lovely gal to chat with. She’s not opinionated but neither am I :-) This is a great place come to have steak. Good steak. Even though we were often looking for authentic Spanish food I found myself coming here entirely too much. This was the best restaurant I had on my trip to Barcelona. Oh, If you sit outside expect to pay an extra two € 50 for the pleasure.

My husband and I found this place here on Unilocal and seeing it was one of the few places that had 5 stars we just had to give it a try. Unilocal is much more reliable about how good restaurants are than Tripadvisor! I question if people’s taste buds have been burned out when I’ve been reading great reviews about terrible restaurants on Tripadvisor but nonetheless we had to try this restaurant and it went beyond our expectations. The staff was extremely helpful and attentive and the food was insanely good! The best part is this place will not break your bank like most places in Barcelona. This place is a must if you want a fantastic meal at a great price with amazing service!

Loved this place! Honestly we went here as a second choice to the Irish bar up the road which was too busy due to the football. So glad we made the 10 minute walk. We were welcomed and seated straight away near the kitchen at the back. The décor is a little tired but the atmosphere is friendly. The staff were lovely and gave us bread and chimichurri while we decided. I ordered the 280g Tenderloin(obvs) and the wife had the«boneless chicken breast). Drinks and food arrived promptly and it was all hot and super tasty. The steak was some of the best I’ve had, cooked to almost to my liking(although I usually order medium expecting medium rare so that was a win). Unfortunately the wife’s chicken can out as pretty much a half chicken, bones and all. We found no cause for complaint though as it was delicious. I thoroughly recommend you visit Parrilla Alfonsina. For less than 50 € we had bread, 2 mains and 3 drinks. Can’t complain at that!

When looking for good food, came accross Parrilla Alfonsina. Greeted with nothing but smiles, we got placed at a nice table even though the place was packed with reservations. Before anything else, the waiter came out and showed the different kinds of steak they had on the card that day, taking the time to explain a bit more about the meat served. The Tenderloin steak that I took was amazingly soft; probaply the best steak I’ve eaten in a few years. As a starter we had three kinds of Argentinian empanadas; again, really really good. One minor thing we experienced was that, while we were still enjoying our main course, the owner came to us and asked us if we would be so kind to move to a different table due to a large party awaiting seating. The timing was not very good as we were in such a good mood, which was a bit dissapointing. Overall report: excellent service, better food, great atmosphere. Will definitely visit again when in Barcelona!

You do kind of get tired of the tapas and the salivation for some red meat does take over. So what’s better than steak prepared as if you’re in Buenos Aires? Loved Parillas Alfonsina. Don’t get concerned if you don’t see too many tables filled inside — seems like they just don’t eat big in Spain. But this is the place to have one of the best pieces of beef anywhere — including Capital Grille and The Palm — and at amazing prices. Food — Excellent. Service — Average Ambiance — average. For you Zagat’ers, it’s a 27−20−20. Great value. You’ll have one of the best cuts of beef(they serve filet mignon(tenderloin), ribeye and sirloin) anywhere. Oh, and a super reasonably priced wine list — not many selections, but enough Malbec or Cabernet to go perfectly.

Great food. Lots of meat. 24 hours later and I’m still full. Order the pitcher of Sangria. Awesome!!! I think I had 5 fresh baked rolls. They were unbelievable with the chimichuri sauce. Empanadas were crazy good especially the meat empanada. Great eats.

Best sangria I’ve ever had in life. Ordered a pitcher. As for food I ordered the breaded chicken. If you’re American and like chicken parmesan, this is the dish for you. It was great. My friend ordered the ribeye – medium. We split our meals so that we could try both. The steak was honestly ooookay but good for here I guess? In Texas, it wouldn’t have cut it. Our waiter was hilarious and hooked us up on the dessert with extra chocolate and Carmel on top of our lemon pie and dolce leches(something from France apparently?) which was wonderful! If I could, I would’ve ordered that dessert instead if mine. Very small and intimate. There was a long wait but we were seated within 3 minutes of arrival. If you’re ugly, bring someone pretty. –A

To all my foodies out there: Never in a million years would I ever think I would have lunch this good. € 15 and you get 2 courses. Get the flank steak. The flavor is unreal. Best cut of beef I’v had. And sauce with bread in the beginning will blow your mind to start. Cheers!

Wonderfully small Argentinian steakhouse. I ordered the steak plate with five types of beef. Lee ordered the tenderloin cooked to perfection. The owner was charming and helpful. We started with the bursts salad, three types of empanadas. Spicy beef, pumpkin and creamy corn. The owner was a great, friendly and helpful.

A super cozy Argentinean restaurant with delicious meat. The owner was chatting around the restaurant with all the guests, in Spanish, English, Italian, Portuguese. It’s a bit pricy, but worth it. The best meat I have eaten in Barcelona. Definitely going back! Tiramisu and dulce de leche ice cream were also really tasty. Make sure to order some of the amazing empanadas for starter!

We went to Barcelona, and ended up at an Argentinian restaurant! :) And boy, are we glad we did. It was our favorite meal during our trip. The entire experience was fantastic. The owner was a lovely woman who came over to chat with us as best she could in English, and recommended their prix fix option of a variety of different steaks, with a side of potatoes and a bottle of wine. Before I even get to the meal, can I take a moment to savor the bread?! She told us it would be good, but wow, was it tasty. Straight out of the oven, crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside and served with chimichurri sauce that I would have chugged if I could. Anyway, the meat didn’t take very long at all, and we had a perfectly prepared platter of medium rare filet, strip, sirloin, and ribeye. It was an overwhelming amount of meat, but we were up for the challenge! All of it was cooked to perfection, we took to soaking the potatoes in the juices. After dinner we had an alfajor cookie and tiramisu, both very good. The restaurant was getting really busy, so the owner asked us if we could move to a smaller table to accommodate waiting guests. We gladly obliged, and in return got a free pitcher of sangria! And naturally, that meant ordering another dessert. So we tried the crepes. It was the right decision. :) Cannot recommend this restaurant enough!
